This guy is so brilliant about clearly explaining the physiology of all the food / hormone interactions - versus my primary care MD & Endocrinologist who just say "you will lose weight if you just move more and eat less". They have never said, "Do not snack, and here is why..."

How then does a thin insulin resistant person continue on a HFLC or carnivore diet and keep from losing weight, which we cannot afford to do. It has been suggested to me to eat more frequently to consume enough food to keep the weight I have. How is snacking different from more frequent eating if the choices are within the guidelines? All this wonderful advice seems meant only to resonate with overweight or obese people with compromised metabolic health. I am thin and fit and my head is spinning as to how to go about this! Thanks so much, you really are a fantastic source of great information.

I have the same problem. I track my calories to make sure I eat enough not to lose weight. Usually, I can't eat enough in 2 meals because I fill up quickly. To fix this I eat 3 smaller meals in an 8-hour window. Been holding my weight steadily over several months with a slight increase in the past 2 weeks.

Laura, unfortunately, there does not seem to be much professional interest in treating insulin resistance from this perspective. There certainly is not much content out there and it’s a shame because a lot of us could use some help. I’m desperate to bring down the A1c and reign in the insulin resistance, but it’s no picnic if you’ll pardon the food pun. Take strength in your discipline and determination to better your health! Agree completely about the ads---it's jarring, disruptive of the content flow, and often at a different volume level than the video. I'm finding myself avoiding channels now that have started this practice, which is unfortunate because I've long enjoyed Dr. Cywes' videos, and don't want to have to leave it behind. I'm a KZbin Premium subscriber specifically because I got tired of random ads interrupting a video mid-sentence, and now the content providers are doing the very same thing.

Hey Doc, 36 y/o 155 lbs athletic Carnivore for 9 months. I only eat breakfast and dinner. But for some reason 3 hours before dinner sometimes I will get a really loopy grumpy feeling. Almost like a low blood sugar. I've been having a glass of milk with heavy whipping cream and it makes me feel better. No matter how much I stuff myself full in the morning towards the end of the 8-hour window I start to get feeling like a low blood sugar. Next time I will test my blood sugar to see what it is but I'm curious what causes this.

I've been considering adding a few "fat snacks" during the day to help reduce high LDL. I've seen your videos on that, but I see no reason not to try to keep it < 200 if I can do that with diet. I'm doing keto with < 50g total 20g net most days and am down to 15%BF, so not trying to lose. I went to 3 meals a day and, considering fatty snacks, added new Chylomicrons to provide energy without the need to store and then release them. I've not measured yet to see if this helps, but if the lipid-energy model is correct, then it should. Any comments on that reason for snacking?

What if I am feeling shaky and hungry 2 to 3 hours after eating. I’ve tried lower carb and had to add a bit more back to help the hunger. I eat 160grams of carbs per day (mainly dairy, veg, fruit , a little rice or pasta or potatoes with dinner and 2 weetabix with lunch) 80g fat and 90 to 120grams protein per day. My a1c is 5.4 but don’t know my insulin levels as my Gp doesn’t do this so I’m going to try and find out privately. I want to bring down my a1c to 5. I can’t afford a cgm so just pricking my finger as my fasting was 6 but I’ve managed to get it down to 5.6 to 4.7 just by balancing my meals with fats and proteins and 10 min walk after each meals. I was eating 40 to 50 grams sats every day but trying to reduce to 30grams as my stools have white fat globules. I am in pain all over joints , muscles etc . My neck is under tension all the time.
