Disguising "Red" Goals in Green Wrapping -
I'm still here in my hotel room in Orlando at the Money Show, but before I went downstairs on this Saturday morning, I wanted to record a podcast to address the issues raised by Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, AOC, as she is now being referred to - I guess I'm just going to call her the bartender for simplicity. Well, anyway, the bartender-turned-congresswoman has released the laughable details of her "Green New Deal". Of course, the Green New Deal really lays bare the smokescreen that I have always believed existed with respect to extreme environmentalism. I've always thought that it masked a real desire for socialism; that the real goal of some of these radical environmentalists was socialism: nationalizing the means of production, getting government control. But they couldn't come out and say that. They had to disguise their "red" goals with green wrapping.
This Bartender is Advocating Fascism -
They had to approach it as an environmental issue;"Hey, we have to save the planet!" and, yeah, who isn't in favor of that? Everybody wants clean air and clean water. So the way the Socialists really try to wedge their way into the mainstream was with this veneer of Environmentalism. But when you actually read the "Green New Deal", it blows all the smoke away. It really lays bare the Socialist agenda of environmentalists. Really, that's what the Green New Deal is all about. It's Red. It's all about turning America into a Socialist economy, or more particularly, a Fascist economy, because Fascism is really the form of Socialism that best describes what this bartender is advocating.
The Government Taking over the Means of Production -
I have said from the beginning when Ocasio-Cortez ( the bartender) describes herself as a Democratic Socialist - "I'm not a real Socialist, I am a DEMOCRATIC Socialist - putting the word "Democratic before something bad doesn't make something bad into something good. If you read this proposal, it is pure, unadulterated Socialism. It is about the government taking over the means of production. The bartender actually believes that the government, by micromanaging the economy, it will succeed in creating prosperity. This is what every Socialist who has risen to power, rather by force or by vote, has promised the public. They always promise pie-in-the sky prosperity, all these great things that the government is going to provide. In order to get people to buy into this, they have to create a false threat of global warming.

I am from Poland and I can tell you so many stories my parents and grandparents told me about the old socialist economy - where everyone was employed by the state, could never be fired (because they had a "right to work"), and were entitled to education, healthcare, food, etc. Everyone knows what the results were: incredibly low productivity (shortages of everything and therefore rationing of all goods), rampant alcoholism (especially among men), low life expectancy (healthcare was not available), and millions of people trying to run away (often hijacking planes or ships) to anywhere in the West. Now in Poland this was done despite the fact the whole economy ran on coal mining - just imagine if that didn't exist! Polish people would have had to live in mud huts without electricity. Oh and by the way Poland is STILL to this day the most polluted country in Europe because our government mining industry was so vile that it created unprecedented levels of smog and ground pollution (Poland supplied coal to most Eastern Block countries). I thank the graces every day that we can at least live in a semi-capitalist world now where maybe things are not ideal, but at least we are free enough not to have to wait in line for 6 hours in order to get our rationed supply of toilet paper.

Here in s. korea the north korean refugees speak how hard life is in the north, but the s. korean youth and west koreans constantly dismiss them as right wing propaganda and that northern refugees are just another 'american lackeys' with an 'agenda'. whenever i tell them to face reality and admit n. korea is a failure, they respond that it was the america's embargo that rendered n. korea so poor, and that with s. korean help the north can be made great again. you just can't reason with these folks.

I am near 50 and grew up in Soviet Union, so I remember very well what it was like living in socialism. When you read the bartender’s proposal, it sounded to me like you were reading from the Constitution of USSR. Literally, word for word. It is scary. Like you said several time, socialism is good when you can afford it. I agree with that. Unfortunately, it is much more difficult to do than some people who believe in socialism but never lived in it think. Especially in America, being the “producer” of the world reserve currency, it feels so easy to maintain high living standards by simply printing money. When the rest of the world works as a vacuum that sucks up any excess of printed dollars turning them into worthless debt that never matures. Sure, USSR would now be the world’s biggest superpower where everything is free, high quality and nobody has to work if only the rest of the world were dumb enough to suck up soviet roubles like they do US dollars in exchange for their own fruits of labour. The world must go on a gold standard to come to its senses again. As a former USSR resident, I believe it is better do it sooner than later.

The Green New Deal is ideology disregarding reality in the same way that Lysenko disregarded reality when he set agricultural top down policy in the USSR under Stalin. The result back then was famine. The result of the Green New Deal would also be famine. The answer is not to deny people the right to vote. The answer is to replace the legacy media with a new web based media and explain to the public how climate alarmism is a Trojan horse for global taxation, higher prices for energy, higher profits for energy companies providing an inferior product, unnecessary regulation and governmental bureaucratic tyranny. Then, we need to get people involved in the election primary process so that we have good candidates to choose from.

It's not. Wake up sheep, you're being governed by a bunch of million/billionaires. You don't have to agree with her or her views, but when you call her a "bartender" in an attempt to degrade her, you're implying that a bartender doesn't represent true America... it does. I would venture there are more bartenders in the US than millionaires - thus a bartender does represent America better. I would appreciate it if we could get Farmers, Welders, Computer Programmers, Project Mangers, etc... elected, these would be more representative of true America.

The mistake many people seem to make is to equal GDP to the economy. That is to say a very positive GDP means a great economy. Problem is the formula is flawed. What you really want to measure is how well-off the population is but that is not easy to determine. So they use GDP = Government spending + Consumer spending + Investments + Exports - Imports. The idea is that every that is spend is going to create wealth for the population immediately or in the future ( Investments and the Exports - Imports if that is a positive number). The problem is when the government starts spending money on things that doesn't create wealth like warplanes, bombs or just waste our money. In that case the GDP might be high but no one will see any economic benefit in real life. This is of course ideal for people like AOC. Just raise the government spending part and GDP will go up (which is true but it will not result in prosperity for the population). It is easy to see tax everyone 90% and let the government pay people to dig a big hole one day and fill it up the other day. The GDP will sky rocket but it will be absolute poverty for everyone.

Agree that there needs to be Voter restrictions! Example; here in Florida we just barely Voted in a Republican Governor by 1% margin of victory over an opponent that ran on VERY Socialist ideals, essentially a Black Male version of AOC!!! We will lose EVERYTHING America stands for if we keep allowing those that HAVE NO STAKE IN THE GAME to continue to Vote for Politicians and Policies that are a DIRECT threat to LONG HELD American Freedoms and Liberties!!! My proposal is that ONLY those paying INTO the system can have the Right to Vote and the Spouses of those working and earning too. Why? because those that are LIVING off the Government will NEVER Vote for anything or anyone that doesn't promise MORE FREE STUFF!!! Why would they care about illegal immigrants over-loading our Health-Care and Social Welfare programs? Why would they care about OUTLANDISH Taxes of 70-90% on our precious JOB CREATORS (the evil Billionaires the left loves to hate)??? Why would they care about improving Schools?? since you don't need an education to pick up a check/electronic deposit from the Government!! You see it's a problem that builds on itself, snowballing, if you will, into a GIGANTIC avalanche of increased Government control to the point of Socialism and even on to outright Communism, because that's the only choices that will remain after the inevitable Economic and Societal collapse due to a Nation OVER-Burdened with a populace with NO incentive or WILL to WORK!!! Summary, 70-90% Taxes on our Billionaires, eventually leads to 70-90% unemployment, because why try? why work? why create new jobs? if the Government is only going to step in and take nearly all of it anyway!

@Charles Taylor she's not a senator, she's a representative of New York's 14th district. She won as a Puerto Rican in a majority Puerto Rican district over some white guy candidate. I guess that's kind of an accomplishment but definitely not the same thing as winning a New York senate seat lol

The notorious AOC (aka The Bartender) studied and received a bachelors in economics at Boston University; the fact that she never used her degree and committed to bartending as her professional work speaks volumes about the horrible university preparation and her pathetic lack of diligence and preparation to be a productive citizen in society given her abundant opportunity (She grew up in affluence in Westchester, NY and NOT the Bronx poverty as she tried to insinuate on her website). She could not begin to explain numerous economic theories and proofs which would be presumed to be standard minimum of education for a BS in economics. Flava Flav has just as much preparation for Congress as The Bartender!

All of the economists should come out in force to enlighten the American people to know the realities of what's the green deal means. How much of the cost. How much the taxes will go up. How many people it would need to accomplish. And the reality of what's real. Please, because to many people are on to this. Let's wake up.

Peter get your facts straight.!!! The first railroads were heavy subsidized by government. For example, the first transcontinental railway by Union Pacific built westward from Omaha and by Central Pacific eastward from Sacramento had huge incentives passed by congress. The leaders of both companies lobbied incessantly for government aid and got in in two pieces of legislation in Pacific Railroad Acts of 1862 and 1864.

I like how Peter Schiff is realistic when it comes to the ties between ecology and economy. Americans may find that whether we like it or not, we may have to cut back on our standard of living for BOTH economic and environmental reasons. If America loses the status as World Reserve Currency and as emerging markets gain power- we can no longer consume 25% of the world's energy with only 5% of the world's people.

When i think environmentalism, i think of "conserving the environment"- meaning dont make trash, reduce meat consumption, taking shorter showers, eating locally sourced foods- the greed (red) new deal makes it sound like I would be living life lavishly with overabundance somehow as long as people are productive enough to float it. this is NONESENSE and not conservative environmental or otherwise.
