Personally, I watch your channel for the soothing and laconic Bob Ross commentary which makes the furniture restoration something akin to a wood-based Zen garden. It makes me feel that there are small, quiet corners still available where people can perform functions which are both useful and enjoyable, where things other than profit motive or hedonistic excess can exist.

Barry, please ignore any detractors from your channel. You've got a terrific balance of education/demonstration, humor, camera work, and soothing narration. I've not seen any negative comments, but they are inevitable in the social media world; you will always recognize the difference between sincere suggestions and BS from bullies. This little table is a great match for its "sister" table. The slight difference in color is irrelevant, as you noted in that the two tables will rarely sit next to each other. You do such a nice job in recognizing the people who support your channel. Many content creators oddly never even address their audience. You're doing an outstanding job on this channel; new projects and new ideas are one thing, but please don't change the substance of your style. I truly appreciate your work.

I like the balance you've struck between explaining what you are doing, general chatting, and the quiet moments where you let your work speak for you. If you try to tweak things to make one person happy, then another person may not like it, so you just have to make content that YOU are proud of. From the comments, it seems like the overwhelming majority of us are enjoying the ride and trust your judgement in regards to content creation and the upload schedule. This is our happy place and we're just lucky that you let us share in what you're doing. Keep being you, Barry, and we'll keep coming back.

There’s always a balance I find in your videos in regards to you talking or not. Your humbleness is reflected by how you show the postcards you receive and the creative way of saying thanks when using a product. I think what you’re doing is great and you’ve developed the following you have because of how you do things. The fact that you listen to what people are saying is great, but in the end you do what works/feels right for you. Great job again on this piece, and I enjoy the history you’re able to find on these pieces ☺️

Barry, you've really made me think about the lives these pieces of furniture lived before you acquired them. Did the owners look at them just for their usefulness? Did they think about the aesthetics as they incorporated them into their homes? Was there any sentiment involved as they recalled family events held around them? It's mostly unknown but could reveal so much.

You give the furniture a soul through the brief historical explanation of the origin of the pieces of furniture and your type of restoration. Keep your style and don't let unconstructive criticism unsettle you. The rapid views of new videos and increasing subscribers show that your style is appreciated. It touches me every time how you appreciate your subscribers by showing them the postcards and writing their names on the gifts. I find it just as amazing that with all the many comments you reply to almost every one of us or at least give us a like. @@MadCityModernI actually went right to eBay to see what kind of prices were on there. There was one for an opening bid of $300 (no bids yet), but local pickup only. Just out of curiosity, I looked to see where the seller was…..Omaha! I live in south central Nebraska, so it would be doable. Then I checked to see when the auction was ending, and it was in 3 minutes. I just didn’t want to jump on it without a chance to think about it first. So I let it go. I’m kind of regretting it, but didn’t want to make a $300 impulse purchase. It did not sell, so perhaps they’ll resist it.

I ❤️ your channel. I'm happy you try to use alternatives to chemicals when workable. As to the use of strippers, removing them and disposal. There's a woodworking series made decades ago called The Furniture Guys. Ed Feldman and Joe Larario. They used sawdust and wood chips in a mix to take the spent striper off the piece being stripped. Take hands full of sawdust/chips and apply to the goo covered piece. Use it like a scrub. Gloved hands. It takes the stripper off the piece, absorbs the toxic goo, and leaves the piece ready sanding or repair, etc. The Furniture Guys videos are out there for anyone else interested. Keep up the excellent work! 💕💕
