We were high school sweethearts!👩‍❤️‍👨 My husband was a year ahead of me. He said he knew from the first time we made eye contact that I was “the one”. He was drafted upon his high school graduation into the Army, and ultimately shipped to Vietnam, was seriously wounded in an ambush, and hospitalized for 8+ months in military hospitals starting in Japan where he was transported after being airlifted by a brave helicopter pilot and stabilized in a field hospital. He praised those Army doctors and nurses with saving his life. When he finally returned home, he broke up with me. I was devastated as I had kept my promise to wait for him, and kept in close touch with his family, but his Dad, who was a WWII veteran, said not to fret as his son just needed time to acclimate to home life again. He was right as it wasn’t long before we were reunited, got engaged and a year later married on April 25, 1970. I had graduated from nursing school and he had become a police officer, and later a detective. We were married for 13 glorious years, with a beautiful son and daughter, when he suffered a catastrophic illness and became permanently disabled. I then became a full time caregiver for the next 25 yrs. He lived to see his children grow into adulthood, and passed away in our 38th year of marriage. He was a wonderfully kind husband, loving father, and a man who was always willing to help others. It’s been 15 yrs. since he passed and I still think of him every day and always will. It’s true that our most beautiful memories remain in our heart and can never be taken away.💞

Happy Anniversary! We’ve been married 36 years, we were 21. We met at a bowling alley. I was supposed to go on a double date with my best friend to her cousin’s party. Another cousin fixed her up with his best friend, she wanted to make it a double date. Everyone agreed. Then the friend backed out last minute. We decided to just to go to the movies and stopped for a drink at the bowling alley after to see if any of our friends were around. It was dollar pitcher beer night, and the place was packed. We were at the bar with our first pitcher when a gorgeous grinning blonde man came up to us and asked me “ May I have the pleasure of accompanying you on the dance floor?” I was so caught off guard by the ridiculous question my response was “huh?” And he started to repeat himself grinning even more! I told him I had heard him the first time and couldn’t believe he’d actually said it. His happy response was “well do you?” Which made me laugh and I said yes how could I turn down someone that brave. Long story, we fell head over heels that night, had a whirlwind romance and he still makes me laugh with the ridiculous things that he says. A little bonus to the story is that this was exactly 2 weeks after Valentine’s Day, and in conversation he asked me what I had done to celebrate and how many cards I had gotten. Probably trying to find out if I had a boyfriend, I told him the truth, that I didn’t get any cards but I had gotten candy from my dad and drank myself sick with my best friend. He promised me no matter where he was in the world he would always send a Valentine’s card and he has definitely kept that promise.

Born in 1947, I was a major Beatlemaniac, loving Ringo Starr most of all. A friend told me about a guy in our county who had a Beatles haircut and looked like Ringo. On March 1, 1965, that friend introduced me to the Ringo Starr lookalike, and on May 21, 1965, we were married. I was 17 and he was 19. We celebrated our 58th anniversary this year, have 4 kids, 7 grandkids, and 3 great-grandkids. Ain't love grand?? ❤

I bought a horse colt and found a place to keep it at a coworker's mother's house. My future husband lived two doors down. He loved horses and would ride the other horse in the pasture and he'd come around when I was there. I went every day to take care of my baby. His sister later told me that she knew something was up when he'd put on a clean shirt to go to the barn. At first I didn't like him coming because the barn was kind of small and I thought he'd get all grabby - and then I hated it days when he didn't show up - and then I wondered when he would make a move! It all ended up with us marrying and apparently the neighbors had watched it all, hoping for that final outcome!

My mother was pen pals with my husband's sister for years. They both decided to meet and his sister brought him to visit for 1 week at my parents' apartment. As my mom and his sister were conversing, I was hiding in the hallway, too shy to come out. Peeking from the door, I spotted this 17 year old boy with large gorgeous eyes. I was only 10 at the time. He didn't speak much English so my little brothers and I learned his language talking to him. He ended the visit asking if he could write to my brothers and me. We jumped at the invitation. Eventually, short letters came every few months to me and my brothers, until I decided to just write to him myself without my brothers. They were lazy about letter writing. My husband loved reading my long rambling letters. It was always a bit disappointing to get a short response that only said a few things and ended with a weather report and that he had to go to sleep. He started visiting every summer with his sister. It was annoying how my mother and his sister kept trying to set him up with nice girls. I had developed feelings for him but was too shy to say anything. None of those introductions led to anything even though a few of the girls were interested in him. I don't think any of them wanted a long distance relationship. He was never interested in any of the girls he met. Eventually, he asked my mother if she and I would visit Canada to meet his parents. My mother never clued in that I liked this guy or that he might be interested in me. We met his parents who seem to be checking me out. His mother liked me because I was shy and proper. My mother was quick to point out that I was quiet, but could turn into a lioness when provoked. Looks can be deceiving she warned. I was furious with my mother. How dare she point out my fault in front of "strangers"! My husband and I continued letter writing for many years until he wrote one day to tell me had fallen in love with me. I was only 16 at the time. My parents were concerned, so they wanted us to wait. We eventually got married when I was 21, and I moved to Canada. 42 years and three daughters later, we are still happy together. There were bumps along the way like losing a baby boy, losing jobs, etc., but we stuck together through it all. Now we travel everywhere, and enjoy seeing our daughters marry the loves of their lives. Just praying for the youngest daughter who is still searching for the "one". Your story is so inspiring. Sometimes we do start off as "mates" that can lead to a lifetime soul mate. Thank you for sharing. Loved the car story - made me chuckle!!!

When I met my husband, there weren't any romantic sparks from my end, I viewed him as a friend of a friend, but there was an inferno on his end, according to him. In the summer of 1976, I just graduated from high school. My friends and I were water babies surfed every morning before work or school. This was our routine. I met my now husband 6 months prior. Long story short, he wanted to talk to me, get to know me better, and the only way to accomplish this was to get a surf board. One morning, he paddles out into the ocean, where we happened to be waiting and watching for a big wave to ride into shore. He almost drowned (not a strong swimmer),he didn't know what he was doing or supposed to do on a surf board he almost ran into me with his board. He was yelling at me to help him because he had never surfed before. When we finally made it to shore, I went off on him and told him he could have broken my leg or hurt me physically. His reply was,"How eles am I ever gonna get to know you. At that moment, I realized this boy had a huge crush on me. And was willing to drown just to talk to me. We are still together talking. He is my best friend and my biggest supporter in life.

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY! I have 2 stories to share - the first - of my 27 year marriage. Immediately after being introduced to my late husband, he told the entire group at the bar that he was going to marry me. That was April 1, 1983, we were married June 18th of that year. Zoom forward to January 2010 - my husband has passed away after 3 years in hell dealing with Pancreatic Cancer. About a month later, my Brother and his wife were visiting to help me with all the paperwork, etc. It came up in conversation that a couple of weeks from then, they were flying from California to New Hampshire for their Godson’s Eagle Scout Court of Honor. He was the son of his best friend from the military (who was also a very long-time email buddy of mine, sending silly jokes and political cartoons back and forth for 20+ years. Anyway, on hearing that they were making the trip, I blatantly announced, well I WANT TO COME TOO! I’d love to meet him after all these years! Well, I did and of course we hit it off spectacularly. After that short visit, I went home, but returned 6 weeks later. Two more trips that Spring & Summer until August when my best friend and I drove across the country with 7 of my cats and my Border Collie, moving me to his home in New Hampshire. We were married the following June.

40 years this past week! Were set up on a blind date. I chickened out and sent a friend. Met later at our matchmakers home. I ended up in the hospital (appendectomy). It was two days before Christmas and he came to the hospital with a huge poinsettia and asked me out. My thoughts were, I have ‘t showered in two days, I am high on pain killers. Everyone has to have a sense of humour about these things. As a Canadian, we get the stereotype that we’re overly polite and say sorry all the time. I think you-know-who has rather tarnished the image of Americans around the globe. We are all in a little bit of shock and awe how a conman has succeeded so well for so long. But usually when I meet Americans there’s an open friendliness with them. I don’t like the politics, but I like Americans, typically.

After graduation, his 2 tours in Vietnam, 2 college degrees, 2 wonderful children, and becoming a VP of the 8th largest company in the world, we just celebrated our 52nd anniversary. What a hoot, loved hearing your story. Congrats on 30 years together. The sugars/Omid need to get their story straight.... either William hated the idea of being King and being trapped in the RF... OR he is power hungry, make up your minds lol. I was married for 18 years, which was about 18 years too long. Only 2 good things came out of my marriage, my daughter and son. Not wishing to be a downer I wont go into details other than to say it was an extremely abusive, toxic relationship. In hindsight I can see that I was never in love with him, I was just in love with the idea of being married. Look forward to the Judy Dench review, what a woman and actress she is.

Happiest of Anniversaries! After my dad passed, I made sure I’d make a nice dinner for my mum on their Anniversary. Holy Cow, 63 years. I just watched the video on HBO about the Last Recording, Now and Then. It was really touching. River just mentioned that over the weekend, and he was so moved, so I added it to my Playlist. I met my person, on a boat around NYC. I was playing a trio gig, and he bought me a drink, cheeky. I wasn’t at all interred in dating at the time, but when I told him the only reason played this gig, was for getting money for a pair of Gucci shoes. He tapped his eye, pointed to his shoes, and it was the same shoes, in brown. We had a whirlwind romance, but after I got a job in an orchestra overseas, it was nearly impossible. He wasn’t the one that got away, he’s one in the “if only…” column. Being together for 3+ years, in gay NYC, that’s like 20 years, in non gayland. Maybe, we can have a weeks peace, without Henry and Rachel? Can that be my wish for the world?! And what was with that bizarre video of Henry, at a zoom comedy roast? He looks so puffy and sad. Cheers!!

I came home for the summer before my senior year in college. I was waitressing & told the cook. I needed to find someone with a boat so I could go water skiing. He said there was a guy who came into the restaurant every night on break from his delivery job. He was an avid weekend boater. I changed my schedule to work nights. After conspiring with the other waitresses, I waited on him and within a week had a date to go boating. I communicated with my college friends all summer how I had figured out how to have a great summer, ease how much I missed them and give my less than attentive college boyfriend some of his own medicine!! I returned to college in September committed to graduate on time in order to get married the following summer. My best friends said -no, you aren't going to get married!? I would reply - I am. He has a boat, and a new slalom ski!!! We did get married a year later. That was 49 years ago.

My husband and I were married very happily for the first 30 and struggled the last 6 of 36 years the first time. I just heard a loud “SNAP” one day and it was over! We divorced but remained friends on my side; even still attended church together, with my mom, who I was caring for in her first years of Alzheimer’s. After 3 years, we began to see each other again and soon remarried; he knew we were going to live with and care for my mom. We were together for 8 years, but the last 2 were difficult because he was drinking and lying about it and dui at the end. We divorced again. This time he knew I couldn’t put up with those 3 things and he actually got help! We are now about to remarry!! This time for our golden years and really looking forward to spending them together!!!

Happy Anniversary!!! ❤ My husband and I have been married for 32 years! I met my future husband after bumping into my cousin who I never liked that said the words “You know what they say about kissing cousins!” I was mortified!!! I told him I was going to meet a friend in the billiard hall a few doors down. I didn’t know anyone there, but I was going to try to find someone to help me. So here I am in a billiard hall at all these huge bikers with tattoos and everything, trying to find someone who looked safe that could help me. I looked over at the pinball machine and saw a guy with long hair, cowboy boots, and a leather jacket. So I spilled my guts and asked if he could help me. He said okaaayy. So we met my cousin again and decided we’d all go to a movie after hours since my husband was an assistant manager at a theater in a nearby town. Long story short, my cousin got bored and left and that’s how we met! We saw each other for about a year or so. He’d come over to my apartment and spend the night occasionally. One time I heard my mom’s car pull up. I was 19. I had him hide in the closet when my mom came in. She saw these big cowboy boots and asked if they were mine. I did have cowboy boots, just not that size! So I said he was outside hiding in the bushes, even though he was actually on the other side of the closet door. So she finally left and we lost track of each other for a few years. I was a model for an art department when suddenly, I saw him again, but I must’ve been looking at him funny because he got scared and left. But I was just trying to remember who he was. A few more years passed and I was signing up for classes at the same community college. I laughed and he recognized my laugh and came to say hi. Well, I didn’t have much of a filter at that time and looked at him for a few seconds, remembered who he was and excitedly shouted, “You hid in my closet!” We dated for four years as I was divorced due to an abusive marriage a couple of years previously. We have a his, mine, and ours. Two sons and our daughter. He’s been a perfect companion for me and I’m so grateful to have met him. ♥️

We were high school sweethearts. We broke up….Two years later I had a VIVID dream of him. In the dream I saw him and wanted to greet him, but he was having none of it. The very next day I ran into his best friend at a burger stand. I told him about the dream I had and how SAD it made me! He said, “Do me a favor. Just CALL him. -He doesn’t hate you.” ☎️ I called him and we have been together ever since…We just celebrated our 42nd wedding anniversary! What a wonderful journey….Four sons and eight grandkids later! Sadly, his best friend only lived long enough to be our best man and baptize our twin boys. I will always be so very grateful to him!❤

Happy Anniversary Shauna, enjoy your dinner date. I met my wonderful husband when i was sixteen on St James beach in beautiful Cape Town. I lived in johannesburg and he got transferred up to johannesburg and we started dating on my seventeenth birthday. We married just after my 21st and three wonderful girls later we had the best marriage. He called me his child bride, which was really funny after 40 years and more. He was the most healthy person, never ill, but he contracted the dreaded covid and passed away 5 months before our 50th wedding anniversary. Never a day goes by that i dont hold a conversation with him in my head. I chatted to him right through the rugby world cup final which, in retrospect is a little odd but it felt right at the time. I miss him terribly. He was the best of the best and i wish for everyone to have such a special person in their lives.

My husband and I were set up by his cousin's four year old daughter. The fun story is my grandparents. They were at a dance in the late 1920s, in the days before good elastic for undergarments. My grandmother would have a great pal of Phrynne Fisher, that sort of character. She was out dancing having a great time, when the button on her drawers (panties) popped off and they fell to the floor. She just kicked them to the side and continued dancing. At the end of that song, a man stood up on the stage holding up her drawers and asked if anyone was missing them. My never embarrassed grandmother waved her arm up, their mine, she ran up to the stage and she was handed them from the man who would become my grandfather.

We met when he hired me for my first job at a pizza restaurant at which he was the assistant manager. I was seeing someone else at the time and that guy worked there. My future husband also was seeing someone for a long time. Well, my boyfriend broke up and he ended up leaving the restaurant but I stayed on. It was one Valentine’s Day a year or so later, and (I don’t remember this, but apparently) my future husband told me he and his girlfriend broke up. I allegedly said “Oh okay.” (I must have been rather busy. Fast forward to late March and we went to the State Fair with some coworkers. We rode the drop ride, which I was terrified of at the time. I got off and my legs were absolute jelly! But he was very sweet and offered his arm to help me walk. We had a really great time, and then went back to his house to watch TV, which is how we connected in the first place. We were sitting together and he kissed me very sweetly and the rest is history. We got married at Disney World in Florida! It was an absolute fairy tale come true. 🥰

Well it’s a little crazy, but I met my husband on a double date. The guy I was with invited him and his “ first wife” out with us for dinner. He was so charming and funny. We just seemed to hit it off laughing and joking around ( our dates were included)!! Later I heard he and his then wife had divorced and it really bothered me because I thought he was so nice, I truly hated it for him… Within the next couple weeks we ended up at a mutual friends house and again hit it off !! 6 months later we were married, and have 3 beautiful now grown children. Unfortunately he passed away 3 years ago from Covid. January 2024 will be our 35 anniversary…I miss him everyday .😢. But I’m surrounded by my kids and have 2 beautiful granddaughters that keep me busy ❤ I am very blessed!! Happy Anniversary,,enjoy every minute of it, you deserve it 30 years is remarkable ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

Happy Anniversary Shauna, and to many more, have a lovely celebratory dinner. Another entertaining video with lots of interesting bits !! My story is like a dramatic comedy, typical of conservative Asian parents - I lived in Hong Kong at the time and Mum refused to accept our relationship. I 'd gone home to Singapore for a short visit hoping to convince her that he was a good guy. Well, that night when she thought I was asleep, she locked my passport and bag in the trunk of the car..Luckily I saw her do it, and at 5am, got a wrench, then forced the trunk open to get the items back. Not wanting to risk another fight, I didn't dare go into the house but quickly changed out of my PJs IN THE GARDEN ....... walked out to the main road and hailed a cab to the airport. Took the earliest flight out back to Hong Kong feeling exhausted and miserable, my head spinning about what to do next. To my husband's credit, 2 days later he flew to Singapore, spoke to both my parents telling them he was going to marry me. We've been married 33 years, but It took more than twenty years (even after having 2 girls, them growing up) before my mum could have a normal conversation with my husband or about my marriage. I hear you speaking so warmly of your mum, with great affection and gentle humour. There is a relationship to be cherished, you are so lucky. Marriages can begin better, made smoother if the parents or in-laws are supportive, welcoming and open. Aida.
