Your discussion about languages and dialects was riveting! I grew up in the U.S., where we assume that Norwegian and Swedish (and maybe Danish) are mutually intelligible, but this discussion shows that, just as in every other aspect of human life, it gets complicated. And when it gets complicated, human emotions get involved. I was very moved by Arne's comment that he feels so stupid when he has to juggle dialects in various regions. Stupid??? How brilliant is it that you can adjust your speech to regional differences? I'm so impressed by your language skills, both of you!

I absolutely loved this podcast! I learned so much about languages and the creative process! I would watch any video and every video you guys make. I would watch any hobbies you guys do. I would love to see the dress Carlos referred to. And altering clothes is something I have always wanted to learn. Keep it up and post anything you feel like and I would bet that everyone would watch. If you every want to talk about dress making and making a muslin, that would be fabulous. That is why I knit so I can make things that fit me not some ideal person

The reason I love watching your channel is because you do so many different things. I like to do almost all of those things myself. It's like finding a friend to play with by thrift shopping and crafting so many different things in so many ways. Seeing the progress on your home and gardens, or seeing the treasures you bring back from your travels, or up cycling doilies for quilts, or making doll house furniture or doll clothes. All this is very fun to see what you come up with. I watched you make scrapbooks out of different beautiful paper. We took the tour of the different rooms in your home, including a doll house tour. We watched you put sequence on the birds you knitted, this isn't actually knitting either. We, your audience, are watching 'Arne and Carlos' and all that you do. I don't understand how the algorithm determines that isn't what your channel is about. It's the MAIN thing your channel IS about - all the stuff you do. Your channel works well as it is, so I hope you can keep the algorithm happy. Plus the amazing trips you've taken with us, to share Norwegian history and other information about Norway - I absolutely love it! Please don't stop. This is my heritage, my nationality, and you've taught me so much I would never have know any other way. Thank you!

I love to see whatever you're doing! Like many of us, you have many interests and you discover new ones as life happens. I enjoy seeing how your interests and skills evolve as it's happening. That's real life! Please share whatever you want to. Carlos, have you considered sharing some of your heritage's traditional crafts, etc? I love seeing the things that make up your adopted home's history but Swedish and Spanish might be interesting too.

Thank you ❤ I was knitting a scrap blanket utilising all sock yarn leftovers when I started watching this episode, then for the last 20 minutes my dog came to me demanding hugs, and I finished this episode hugging my furr-baby, he is very warm and cozy Cavapoochon

Thanks for the interesting language discussion. We are “word students” in our house; we love languages. My husband is studying old Norse and we watch a lot of Nordic noir TV. What surprises me is that I’ll be happily listening to Icelandish and reading the subtitles when a Danish ship lands and the spoken language is effortless English, their common language. It surprises me because I’d have thought they’d be able to speak to each other on one or the other Nordic language. And the Danish close to the German border! I can hear the difference. It is so interesting to think of the influences. And “kids”! I’m fluent in French and when I hear things like “le football” (which isn’t football, it’s soccer) and “le French fry” I am really struck at how infiltration works. Carlos, you are an amazing and gifted polyglot. I should have mentioned that to you years ago. You have a gift for language. I would avoid using words like “schlep,” though. It’s too - hmmm- consciously fluent. You two are wonderful, thank you.

I’m mesmerized about your discussion on your different dialects. When I visited some friends in Germany years ago, they tried to explain to me their father’s dialect was more “low German.” He would need to change his dialect when speaking to his children. Also, they lived in Ostfriesland, & I met a friend of theirs who could speak the “Frisian” dialect. To Americans it can be mind blowing.
