I went to the World's Fair in Spokane in 1974 with my member friend. She took me to the Book of Mormon Pavilion, and I purchased a Book of Mormon for a dollar while there. She excitedly shared the big news with her parents and later with the missionaries. I was puzzled by what the big deal was about me getting the book. I was baptized shortly after that and read through the entire Book of Mormon at least once a year for the next thirty-some years because I thought if I read it enough, eventually I would discover that it was a book worth getting excited about. That never happened. It was a dumb book in 1974 and it is still a dumb book today. I wish I had paid heed to what Mark Twain had to say, and trusted my own impressions. Thanks for a fun video. 💜

I was a missionary in LA. I gave the book to James Brown on sunset Blvd. he said “thank you…. I’m more of a holy bible man myself but I appreciate it” he then handed it to his body guard and got into his bus.

@JeffEHall. Classy man. People ACCEPT the thing thrust into their faces or hands because they are 1) courteous NOT CURIOUS; 2) they do not want to STOP and be further delayed by DISCOURTEOUS conversation; 3) to engage - or be engaged at all - in such a scenario is a RISK. There is nothing courageous in this act. It is INTRUSIVE; INCONSIDERATE; JUST PLAIN APPALLING poor form. If someone even approaches THE PROFFFFFFFFFFIT, he is, at minimum castigated. I truly wonder what rmn would do if any person approached him with any thing in hand!!!? 🤮🤮 3

There is another actress that was raised Mormon by the name of Mireille Enos. She was on an ABC series that only lasted a season called The Catch. It was an entertaining show that was a little steamy, which kind of surprised me.

I think that most world leaders are in possession of many different religious books. This is useful to their knowledge of the culture and philosophy of the country the book represents.

200 million books of mormon and one in every marriot hotel room, and after 200 years, there are roughly 5 million active members. I think this demonstrates how ineffective the book of mormon is. Maybe this is another stat the church shouldn't publish

I'm sure Elvis' temple work has been done 500x by now. Pretty sure my Home Teacher's brother-in-law's next door neighbor's former mission companion was baptized for him. All the name dropping and touting of celebrities is very Scientology. #Ziontology

My ward had a professional photographer come to the Cultural Hall (😜) and take family portraits. We pasted our testimonies (free) along with the portrait (which we paid for) into a Book of Mormon (which we also paid for). We were encouraged to buy and send at least ten copies. We sprung for one.

@claudetterush. Just shaking my head. 🤮Back and forth. Back and forth. [There is a phenomenon in this that just occurs now: some PEOPLE derive a weird sense of SHARED celebrity just by being able to tell, and tell, and tell , ..... about their "intimate" contact with a person "of repute"; something like the gold-leaf rubs off.

Hey, Boys and Girl, I have read the Book of Mormon in English, Spanish, French, Portuguese, and half way in Italian, yet never found it very interesting nor good literature. To Me, good literature is something that I want to read so badly that I read all night until the rising sun tells me it is almost time to go to work again. And, at work, I can hardly wait to get home so that I can read once more through the night. The English version became so boring to read that I decided if I had to read the Book of Mormon frequently, I might as well perfect my Spanish, French, Italian, and Portuguese at the same time and get something valuable from the experience as well. I feel a bit competent to comment on the Book of Mormon as literature because I am a retired college professor of English and Spanish and have read a good number great books in Spanish, Portuguese, and French as well as English. A great book to read, the Book of Mormon, to me, is not!

oh yes, do an episode of the "Elder Gene Cook meets Mick Jagger on a plane" story! I live in Toronto. Back in 2003, prior to the SARStock benefit concert (the city had a SARS epidemic happening which had basically shut down the city's economy), in which the Rolling Stones were going to appear, the ward members got an email from the Stake warning members not to go to the concert due to the concerns of the Stones' Satanic influence. The letter included the entire text of Elder Cook's talk in which he talked about meeting Sir Mick on a plane, Mick's admission that he had taken the discussions while at college, and his confession that the Stones' whole purpose of their music was to get teens to have sex. Personally I think that Mick did meet Elder Cook, but knowing the British like I do, he decided to have fun with him in what is called "taking the piss". In other words, confirming Cook's confirmation bias of what he thought the Stones and rock n' roll was, and watching Cook's eyes bug out in horror. All I can say is that it's fortunate that Cook wasn't seated next to Keith Richards. :) The other thing about the letter - I was surprised that they didn't have a warning about AC/DC, who were also on the bill and also notorious in Christian circles as "agents of evil." And that they didn't warn Randy Bachman, who was still TBM at the time and playing with The Guess Who at that gig. FWIW, my TBM sister-in-law did attend the concert with my niece, who went there to see Justin Timberlake.
