ep30 Bishops Garage - 1966 Mustang Windshield Install

The windshield from a 1965 mustang through 1968 are the same and following along with me on how to install one will be an adventure.
Its gloopy, messy, and most garages wont do it nowadays....but I did!
This video is a little longer than the average garage vid especially since its a complex topic, installing a windshield, sealing it, putting trim on, squeezing the gasket on...man my fingers and hands are still sore!

This is messy but fun! Hopeing for a break in the rain so I can do some chainsaw action, clear out half the tennis court for the arrival of a project....hehe muwahahahaha!

Back in the day we used to use a thin clothesline rope and rub a candle on it so it was easier to pull out and less chance of the rope cutting on the rubber. This and dishwashing soap as a lub made it an easy install especially on the old VWs T1's as that rubber was a lot thinner than the early mustang rubber. Also I would recommend installing during the warmer weather as the rubber is softer.

I would’ve guessed the top trim was a solid piece and the bottom was two half pieces.

The use of caulk in this video is entirely different from all other videos. Not to say it’s wrong but it’s sure messy. Also some strip caulk should have been put in before the rope IMO. Using tape to protect the body and paint and mark moulding clips would be helpful. I guess the test is if it leaks.

Did you also use stripe chalking in the pinch weld channel? I can see a box on the hood.

I ended up not, several vids on the web showed it with and without and sealing fine either way. I was generous on the sealer, it should be good, so far at least.
