I will list you all the steps I've followed when taking appart and inspecting my 2zz-GE engine when prepping it for the Swap into my Toyota Mr2 Spyder (Mr-s)

Looks like my old 250k kilometre engine that had been ran on dino oil, they get very varnished. No problem with running though.

Great video series! I'm just getting my JDM imported engine and 6 speed gearbox delivered this week (03 Corolla/Run X). Running basically the same setup as you except for a USDM 00-01 Celica ECU. Would love to upgrade to a Power FC later down the road.

Cool video Jesse! What kind of impact gun are you using in the video ? 200nm+ ?

Hello, its a Ryobi Impact gun (electric one). Its awesome and you can get it from Coop Brico. I haven't had a screw I couldn't loosen with it yet, including crank pulleys and other nuts. Having impact Sockets make a big difference too.

Jesse, I just received my 2zz and.....it doesn't look like a 45k mile engine. I pulled the valve cover off and it looks like there is moderate cam wear on the large intake love closest to the timing chain. Is there an acceptable/ unacceptable amount of grooving/ wear before I should be worried 😟

Difficult to say over the internet but i’d ask a motorist near you to look at it before investing too much!
