This was the trip of the summer for me... drifting over 50 miles down the upper reaches of the Snake River in Idaho. The rainbow trout and cutthroat trout were absolutely gorgeous and we encountered a few brown trout as well. This stretch of river is rugged and beautiful and seemed to get better with each passing day. I've got a few more days of footage so look for those in the next few videos. Enjoy!

Great video ! So good I watched it twice. My favorite Fly Fish Hunter quote from this video is at 3:42 when the big rainbow you caught on the Euro rod makes a run: "Oh man burned the finger on that one...Yeouch !" Ha I've done that so many times ! That was a beautiful rainbow. The one at 6:55 right after the dry shake was nice as well. That one hit the fly hard. What a great float on the South Fork. Awesome trip. Thanks for sharing.

Hahaha! Good call! Well it was scorching hot out, and bone dry, and I had my pinky finger on the line to hold the fish and he bolted and the fly line gave me a good line burn! Definitely left a mark! :-) Thanks for checking it out.....TWICE!

That first fish on the eruo rod did not want to give up! great video! The south fork is one of my favorite rivers. I've been looking into a boat so I could float on my own down the river. Glad you had fun and enjoyed your time.

Thanks Every Season Idaho! You are lucky to have it as one of your nearly fisheries! It's a super easy river so you could do it in a pontoon boat if you wanted to start with something smaller, but it's really nice to be able to fish from the boat and nothing beats a drift boat for that. Going to be retiring end of May this year. My buddy and I are planning on taking his Fly Craft boat over the SF Snake. Neither one of us has been there. Would you recommend a month and sections?

Has the state stocked the river with rainbows, at one time in the 60-70s there were very few if any rainbows in the upper snake. I was told they are the fish in the hatcheries. When I fished the river sometimes I would be the only boat on the river

Hey Christian Rodriguez. I had my own boat but I did the trip with several friends. A few times a buddy would hop in my boat for a few hours during the day but I mostly fished by myself. We all had our trucks shuttled to the end so they were waiting for us. Hope that helps!

@@monaamelia Most popular rivers have shuttle services. Call your local fly shop and ask. If not, you can stash a bike at the take out prior to your float, or put a bike in the boat and ride back. Have fun and be safe. Go on a very easy stretch if you are new to rowing.

Have you checked out 4th of July lake in Sprague Wa? Ran into a couple dudes who came from Cali to fish at that spot, and another dude said he read about it in some magazine. I didn't get the chance to go as it is only open from Thanksgiving to the end of March.
