Overall, it's a cool little space. I know you have the stylish sconce lighting, but since it's a reading nook, how a bout either a tall lamp next to or behind the chair or a wall lamp next to the chair? Just a thought.
@kcanded4 жыл бұрын
That's what I was thinking. The boob light will be blocked by the bookshelves. I would go for a floor lamp behind the chair for better light.

I would have put an L-table over the chair so that they could also use that space to work (as she requested). The small table was cute, but didn’t really serve the purpose she needed. Other than that, very nice!

I guess budget has major effect. If she had small budget those t shape tables and a leg rest ottoman would rank up overall price
@Kath-Erina4 жыл бұрын
@@gondolin12 nope, Ikea has a really inexpensive table that you can pull/slide over the side of the chair and set up a laptop and work on it. It's stylish and could have easyly replaced the side table he used but with more functionality. www.ikea.com/de/de/p/vittsjoe-laptopgestell-schwarzbraun-glas-00250249/

I love it!! I wish there was an over the couch desk so they could put their laptop on top of something when working and when they aren't they can slide it beside the chair. love the shelves!

Even a retro lap table would work, ditch the side table.
@RocketChild4 жыл бұрын
It's a beautiful space. However, I think maybe you should've put a desk as opposed to a coffee table. Because the client did say she wants to work in that space.
@thinkingbout4 жыл бұрын
Yeah I think so too, there are even PC-Desks at Ikea in the size of an sidetable, that maybe would have worked here, so that it is still useable as a sidetable when you don't have to work in the room😊
@shaishannahbennett80554 жыл бұрын
@@thinkingbout Yep, exactly what i thought. Ikea have laptop tables that probably cost the same or less than that coffee side table. I love how the space looks, but missing the main function the client asked for...

Enjoy watching these videos. Alexandra is so cute. Color coded book organization makes me shake my head. Organize by topic, author, etc. But color? Cute for toddlers, but adults? Of course, they don't have that many books, so this may work for them. It's certainly a huge improvement and a real morale booster!

As always, your makeovers are amazing. I think I watched most all of your videos before I tackled my own shabby chic bedroom makeover. I am a huge fan of pink as well. Today I saw a bathroom makeover by a young man who copied your black paint with the magic eraser technique. He said that he was inspired by a room you did and he used your name as well. I was so excited because I thought "hey, that is my decorator ". Way to go girl; you are inspiring many.

I would suggest a Murphy bed type desk on the wall where the colour blocking is and rearranging the colour clocking and artwork to suit.
@IExpectedBSJustNotThisMuchBS4 жыл бұрын
Great... there needs to be a reading light near the chair. Wall sconce? Even a small shelf to hold a lovely wood warm light solar light (leave behind the curtain during the day to charge) would be great and require no rewiring. An end table whose base slides under the chair to be used as a lap table too would have been nice double duty.

I would have put a wall to wall bookshelves on the other wall instead for more books lol (it's my personal life goal to have a bookshelves with a ladder one day lol) and the possibility of having a desk when needed

Great use of space. Made the area a functioning part of the home. Was thinking you could have added a light window tent on the sliding glass doors. It would reduce the UV light and the amount of heat coming into the space. Easy to purchase at a local home improvement store.

So cute and bright Alexandra! For the color block, it probably didn’t sit with you bc the curve and the vertical line are suppose to meet at a tangent for a smooth transition. Otherwise it creates a vertex. But it looked much better once you put the artwork over it!
