Bob is a National Treasure. He's a trained solicitor who became a comedian with comedy partner Vic Reeves and they did brilliantly surreal comedy. His stories are stuff of legend. He now does a fishing programme with Paul Whitehouse, another funnyman. He's just published his autobiography which is well worth a read.

It's impossible to describe what Bob is. Bob is just Bob. I can see that the term 'national treasure' has been used here, and it's about the best way he can be described. Part 1 👍 Nothing I can say will improve on some of the descriptions already in place. Bob is an inventive, surreal and hilarious raconteur, but as you can see he deals in flights of fancy, rather than going after a target like some other comics. Don't try and worry too much about how much is true, or try to rationalise Bob, just enjoy the performance, the effects he has on the others, the florid language he uses, the preposterous assertions and let it wash over you like a warm bath....with an egg in it.👍 On that panel when you mentioned it, Bob's a comic, so is Lee Mack, Rob Brydon, David Mitchell and Lucy Porter, and you could see him absolutely destroying them.

Holy shit, Fuji 9 is a real thing. I can see the appeal if all you need is a replacement filling. Bob Mortimer was one half of a long time comedy duo - Vic Reeves and Bob Mortimer. They had a number of their own TV shows. They did a combination of surreal slapstick and mucking about like schoolboys but being grown men. Vic Reeves was the lead, as taller, and Bob was the wingman. But the surreal storytelling is part of what Vic & Bob did.

Bob is an absolute British legend. He made his name on shows like 'Shooting Stars' with comedy partner Vic Reeves. He has a hugely interesting life story - so many curious events and incidences, as his wild stories on WILTY show. He's always had a 'funny pub story' approach full of intricacies within his retellings, combined with heaps of surrealism (some of Bob and Vic's sketches, like 'Mr Shakamoto', 'Tiny Hands', 'Leaving On A Jet plane parody' and Masterchef' show just how darkly surreal they went sometimes). Just such an effortlessly funny man. His 'train guy' Instagram videos, where he impersonates a modern day London 'yuppie' are brilliantly hilarious. Hard to believe but he says he has always been quite socially anxious, especially in his youth, but comedy was an outlet. He also nearly died and had heart bypass surgery. A really interesting and dramatic life!

DIY dentistry. I completely relate to that story. I used to have veneers on my front teeth which fell out every 4-5 months and cost about £250 for the dentist to put back in. I researched it and got some professional dental cement, acid etch and other equipment. I used to cement them back in over the course of 5 years. Saved a fortune, and they only lasted a bit less time than when the dentist used to do it, say 4 months instead of 5.

Part 1! there's so many more brilliant stories. He's a former solicitor turned comedian who has worked primarily with Vic Reeves. They made a number of sketch shows (Vic Reeves Big Night Out, The Smell of Reeves and Mortimer ) as well a comedy quiz panel show(shooting Stars). They also did some other stuff together but they're the main ones I remember. He's also done a more recent fishing show with another comedian called Paul Whitehouse which is lovely tv and funny in a milder way. It highlights their friendship as they age. It really is good tv but maybe not something for a reaction channel, although i guess the best bits compilation might be). Fianlly, as others have said, he acted as Jarvis cocker's solicitor straight after Cocker got arrested for interrupting and mooning at Michael Jackson during Jackson's Breit Awards performance back in 96. He's an all round legend.

Also, this show has a mix of types of people. The two team captains are comedians, the host is a comedian, but the guests can be anything. Like, the one where Bob's talking about the egg in the bath, you have a footballer on one team. In other stuff, one of the women used to be a famous magician's assisstant (and wife). You get musicians, actors, TV presenters, etc.

He was a lawyer who went to a comedy night above a pub and met his comedy partner, Vic Reeves - they formed Reeves and Mortimer, eventually going on to create a show called Shooting Stars. They are like nothing you have ever seen - I challenge anyone to describe them. They out-Kaufman Andy Kaufman, and leave Steve Martin and Robin Williams in their wake.

Vic and Bob's first TV collaboration was over 30 years ago in "Vic Reeves Big Night Out". It was a truly original comedy format, combining traditional Music Hall parody with the Theatre of the Grotesque. Bearing in mind how long ago it was produced, this was quite a remarkable achievement. More remarkable still, Vic Reeves is a World authority on pirates, and never wears blue jockey caps. Not all the panellists are comedians. For example, the lady on Bob's team in the yellow dress is Debby McGee, famous as the magician's assistant to the late Paul Daniels.

Oh jeez it's been a while since I watched any Bob Mortimer clips. I've been crying laughing at this! Hilarious! The man is effortlessly funny, always has been. He's a strange kind of comedian, along with his comedy partner Vic Reeves. They are very strange but often hilarious in how they play off each other. Definitely look out for clips from Shooting Stars, it was their very bizarre quiz show from the 90s.

Bob, did indeed train, qualify and work as a solicitor (lawyer) before turning to comedy, but he's perhaps one of the most extraordinary characters the UK has ever seen and hilarious, to boot!

PART ONE!!! Along with the suggestions of Shooting Stars, Big Night Out, Randall and Hopkirk (Deceased) etc etc you might also get a kick out of the couple of singles that Vic and Bob released. Vic Reeves and Bob Mortimer have been comedy icons here in the U.K. since the early/mid 90’s and have often been touted as the modern day Morecambe and Wise (who are widely regarded as being among the titans of British comedy and you should definitely check them out as almost every comedian that has come since has stated them as an influence) with their childlike humour that Vic and Bob just took on a more surreal path.

Bob Mortimer came into the British public consciousness when he performed with his comedy partner Vic Reeves. They produced an ‘off the wall’ series called ‘The smell of Reeves & Mortimer’. It was a surreal mixture of sketches & comedy stand-up routines & became incredibly popular with the student population back in the 1990’s. He has since gone on to become a bit of a national treasure.💕

It was not the first. There was series of "Big Night Out" prior to that in 1990. We went to see them on stage in Nottingham and we were only in our mid thirties and I think we were some of the oldest in there.
