Many years ago in South Australia, we had a pilot who was a paraplegic who flew a hang glider! He learned before he was a paraplegic, but it is possible to do. Hang gliding is a sport/hobby that requires a lot of determination and a huge passion for flight. If you're really, REALLY keen, then paraplegic or not - the skies the limit.

this was realy amazing, mad props. after skydiving, this quote stayed with me. "For once you have tasted flight you will walk the earth with your eyes turned skywards, for there you have been and there you will long to return."

The best music is no music just the sound of the wind rushing past, would be a lot better,the movement plus elements is music in itself.

It's been six years since I stopped hang gliding after experiencing injuries from a fall during my first flight training in a small mountain. My instructor recommended paragliding instead of hang gliding. And then he made me depressed by saying that I don't have a good motor controlling sense(wtf?) So he slightly recommended me to switch paragliding. That experience gave me a fear of heights, which led me to quit hang gliding. When I first started, I watched this video and dreamed of this sports. but now again, watching this video after a long time, I want to train again.
@robertsiegl8164 Жыл бұрын
From my point of view the "big" picture is that hang gliding is aweseome, but you have to have full determination in starting and landing. On a training hill it becomes really intense because you have to perform start and landing in a really short sequence with a good technique. Flying on a real, "regular" mountain is imho much easier because there is much more time between start and landing. TLDR: don't get discouraged, it's an awesome sport, try to find a decent HG flying school nearby

nice flight i am from the uk . i was in a field 4 weeks ago and this h glider did a landing in this field . as i was just siting down haveing a smoke . and pilot told me he had come 90 miles away and had been up to 5500 ft and been up for 8 hours . but he did say he had been a pilot for 25 years
@kindafoggy11 жыл бұрын
I think at that altitude they are flying with one hand-thrown 'chute and one ballistic 'chute (and hopefully oxygen). Maybe that's what's on the control bar? I wonder how high Matjaz was flying. 15,000 feet? Any flyboys take a guess?

how do hand gliders stay up in the air? Is it the wind? And what if the wind just stops, will you fall?

Hey, Im looking to get into hang gliding but I am just curious on a few questions. Can you fly further on hang gliders than paragliders? How old were you when you started hang gliding? And are there competitions you can do?
@MatjazKlemencic10 жыл бұрын
Hey Mark, with a hang glider you are faster, but it does not mean that you are longer because of that. Its the pilot skills that take you further. I was 15 when I started, lucky with best father in the world. Comps, yes of course, we compete in time over the course of 100 or 200 km and more. Find a nearest school and start ;)

It would require more words to describe the envy you have excited in me, than KZbin lets me use. Decently filmed, and seemingly, you have also proven skillful control of your technique, because you make what is shown seem effortless - and I have heard this sport is *always* complex to handle. My admiration on all that. I am presently researching what I will require to start my training in hang gliding. This should be a very special treat, and I could not be looking forward to it any more. =)
