Sir, I would just like to say thank you for doing theses video's. I watched and followed all your video's and it has really helped me more than you could possibly imagine. I now have the home theater of my dream's and that's all because of your help and advice on what to do and I really appreciate your insight and opinion. I hope whenever you fo sell your home that it will go to someone who can appreciate the work you have done in making your home theater so amazing. Also I really hope you will after you buy your new house that you will do what you did before and create another series on making another home theater. So I hope you will continue to do what you are so good at and that's helping those of us who don't have your knowledge. Good luck and also I promise to keep coming back and sharing your video's with as many people as I possibly can.

Hi, amazing build and I can really tell you have put a ton of thought and effort into the build and design. I completely agree with you on the front wall, the mains sound better placed just outside of the screen edges. I saw your review on the Volt 10, i have 4 volt 6 myself and I must say they sound phenomenal for all the less than stellar measurements. Are you still using the volt 10 for surround and atmos? Do you find they sound lacking in some way in use? I'm a firm believer in good measurements for good performance. For volts, their Strengths lie in their vertical off axis. A HTM as surround would be stellar horizontally, but would be weaker in the vertical pan with the atmos speakers. Appreciate your feedback!

Have you seen the ep on Inwalls? They need to be sealed into a wall to get the benifits of the baffle wall effect. As for the acoustic treatments, all reflections will be manipulated for optimal sound. I'll be using a mixture of different treatment options.

Hello. And thanks for reply. now it makes sense I thought it was a "regular" speaker and therefore could not understand the amount of isolation. But when it's a dedicated built-in speaker, I understand. your home theater seems to be of quality and your attention to detail is superb. Finally, good work and for God's sake keep making videos, they are good and meticulous. Yours sincerely A fan from Denmark🇩🇰🇩🇰🇩🇰🇩🇰🇩🇰🇩🇰🇩🇰 PS. Using Google translate, hope it will translate properly.

Are your subs stereo integrity HST-18s? If so, im curious how the inuke handled them. Were they dual 1 ohm configuration with a 2 ohm load on each channel? Ive got 2 ordered with a plan to order 2 more, and trying to decide on an amp. Thanks!

Well done, very informative, thank you. 1 question: you replaced the SC-1250 speakers with HTM-12's. I know the HTM's are very good speakers, but besides the stage width, how would you compare sound quality difference between the 2? I guess the QSC's reproduce better dialogue and are more dynamic above crossover point?
@hometheatergurus
@hometheatergurus 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks. The vocals are every bit as good as the 2150. Both are very smooth and detailed. Dynamics, imaging is all on par as well once crossed to a sub. Neither speaker was pushed in my room and had a ton of headroom so neither had a dynamics advantage. Sure in a real cinema where the htm 12 would be pushed to its limits the 2150 would have the edge. Id personally choose the htm 12 everytime as they're easier to properly place and placement is everything. In huge rooms where the 2150s can properly flank the screen to the desired 60 degrees it's a toss up. The htm 12 will result in better performance and a better overall and larger sound in regular size rooms where the 2150s wouldn't be able to be properly placed. In my room as I want able to flank the screen with the 2150s the htm12s sounded vastly larger with a much wider sound stage. But that was due to placement.

How is your signal chain to your bass shaker? The reason I’m asking is because I want my shakers to get a flat signal without room correction (eq). Do you use mini DSP to split the output from the receiver to the subs and shakers?

Fantastic series on HT design. I spent months researching this type of information and it was brilliantly consolidated here in your channel. 2 questions: what subs did you use? And if you could share plans or link to a similar design that would be great too. If you could choose your atmos and surrounds to match your LCRs, what would they be? I’m considering HT-10s for LCRs and HT-8s for surrounds. No clue about atmos. HT-8s? Thanks for your contribution to DIY HT!
@hometheatergurus
@hometheatergurus 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks! My subs in my recently sold house were ht18s in 12 cubes tuned to 17hz. We'll soon be covering sub design on the channel. As for Diy speakers, the htm series is great. I'm sure the HT is as well but haven't looked into them but the seos waveguide is a good one. For atmos... The volts are definitely out as per ep 4 (maybe 5) I think it was. Id try and mount matching bookshelves for atmos or maybe something the RSL 34e which looks promising and I'd like to get my hands on to test.

How's sound leak to the rest of the house when playing at your normal volume (ie decently loud)? Do you have any sound absorption insulation in the walls around the room?
@hometheatergurus
@hometheatergurus 4 жыл бұрын
Absorption in the walls does little as sound is transmitted through the studs. We will cover that at some point. That said I used a staggered stud wall design which isolates one side from the other and have fiberglass insulation in the wall as well. You can beat on one side and not hear it on the other due to the staggered stud design. I also did this around the master bedroom. You can be in the theater and know one will even know as long as you don't crank it over - 15. If it's audible in the house it's very loud in the theater room.

Thanks for the tour. I would love your take on advice for building the AT screen: what's recommended and why. I'll be building mine soon. It won't be as elaborate as yours...I have SVS Ultra Towers and Ultra Center for my LCR, and I'll be using 2 full Marty enclosures for my subs, all behind the AT screen. I know towers aren't necessarily the best option for AT screens, and especially a center channel (since it's recommended to have matching LCR speakers), but that's what I have for now. Plans for a video on something like that? You mentioned a future video for a baffle wall, is that what you're getting at?
@hometheatergurus
@hometheatergurus 4 жыл бұрын
You're welcome As for advice, towers are actually a better center than a horizontal center. That's why high end theaters always have 3 identical vertical speakers for lcr. I like Seymour material for the diyer. Also check out ep 1 as you mentioned all of those speakers including mains behind an acoustic screen which is a red flag. As for the video on baffle walls it'll be why baffle walls are superior and how they work and manipulate the sound.
@fueledtoperform
@fueledtoperform 4 жыл бұрын
@@hometheatergurus Thanks. So would it be better to trade the SVS Ultra Center for another Ultra Tower (to have 3 Ultra Towers for the Left Center and Right)? I'll check out the Seymour material, thanks for recommending! My room will be roughly 11.5'-12' wide (and 26' deep before the AT screen wall addition), and plan to have a 135-150" screen, so I assume most speakers will be behind it or next to it behind transparent material like your subs. I won't know until I finish the room and get exact measurements.
@hometheatergurus
@hometheatergurus 4 жыл бұрын
I'd definitely trade the center for another tower. As for screen size I'd use the video on the room mode calculator and ep 1 to help place seats. The width of the room will limit you. With that width let's say the mains are 10 feet apart center of one main to center of the other main. So that puts seats 9 feet back or so from the speaker baffles. See ep 1 for visuals. So if you want a nice big 16:9 screen in the 45 degree range that's around a 100 to 105 inch screen (actual calculations are in my screen size video). That will be ballpark for optimal Soundstage and screen size.
@adamjj85
@adamjj85 4 жыл бұрын
@@hometheatergurus @Adam Netko I'm also considering the same SVS Ultra setup. I reached out to SVS for their recommendation and they were adamant that the Ultra Center would their first choice as center over a tower for a wider dispersion even behind the AT screen. Not sure what to believe at this point.

Hey that's cool man. New subscriber here. Very informative video's. You going with an OLED set in your new house instead with towers or bookshelves? I'd like to see what you end up getting. No gym?

Thanks. The wife and I are actually back and forth. I plan on having bonus room above the new garage.. Should we go gym and rec room or theater and rec room. Just not sure. As for the living room I have diy towers with module subs so I'll probably diy some larger ones for new living room as enjoy wood working with maybe an 86" TV and full atmos system. Not sure about oled as I'm cheap and can't help it 😜. Same for master bedroom, atmos system with an 82 to 86. So I'll have basically home theater setups in the living room and master. We dont use the theater as much as we used to. But I do enjoy the design and build phase tremendously.

I have rows at 12 and 16.5 feet back. I sit in the back and from there it's no bigger than a 100 inch from 10 feet. Kids love the front and I actually don't mind scope in the front. . If I sat at 20 feet it would be small. Go check out my video on screen size where I cover viewing angles.

Thanks for the tour! Can you give me more information on your subs? I’m looking to build my own and hide them behind fabric like you did. Thanks for doing the videos, it’s helping me design theater 2.0

You're welcome. For the subs they're 12 cubes tuned for 17hz with stereo intgretiy ht 18 D4 drivers. They're tuned with a natural slight house curve. They're huge and honestly the new theater will have 4 um12s ported or sealed 18s. These boxes are I have now are just so dang big. We will be designing subs on the channel later using winisd which is a free software used to design enclosures. We'll model some drivers, decide on an enclosure that's living room friendly and we'll build it. I'll give subscribers some nice vinyl veneer options then we'll wrap them. It'll be something very nice but not too complicated. We'll also do compression test on it to see how it stacks up against some subs on data bass. Then I'll throw as much power as I can't to it and try and break it.. Fun fun. The build plans will be available to subscribers. Fwiw I've designed subs using the um12 for guys that own Marty subs and they were so impressed they commented they wouldn't have done the huge Marty subs if they had known the um12 in a much smaller box performed so well.

Thanks for the info. I’m planning out a 20x26 room. I currently own 2 HSU 15” subs, but like the vertical enclosure to fit more into the walls and easier to hide. I hope your home sale has gone smoothly. My theater 1.0 in our Houston, TX house was a PITA to sell and explain to buyers, depends on the buyer I guess

Great theater, but you REALLY need to get a 4k Blu-ray player for the best and most immersive audio content and improved picture quality.
@hometheatergurus
@hometheatergurus 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks. It's a 1080p projector. But trust me when I build the next one it will have it! I'm too cheap to upgrade such high price gear like a projector until it breaks. :) I do use the Xbox to play 4k disc with atmos. The current theater is being sold as is so all gear stays with the house. So next one I'll be buying new everything including a Sony or jvc 4k projector and a stand alone player.
@dan_hitchman007
@dan_hitchman007 4 жыл бұрын
@@hometheatergurus even if you have a 1080p projector for now, you can still use 4k discs for the lossless Dolby Atmos and DTS: X. Many studios will now only release immersive audio on 4k disc... and you're future proofing your collection. They can't take your discs away, but there are no such assurances with digital streaming or downloads.

@@hometheatergurus That's the thing I don't understand is what's important about viewing angles??? Is that a real thing? For instance - When I go to the local Movie Theater in Springfield, Illinois at the AMC Theater I always sit in the very back row. The reasoning behind that is whenever I sit like in the middle of the Theater I have a hard time seeing over the person in front of Me. If I sit in the second row my neck hurts from looking up.
