Love your vest and your adventsweater! I am knitting on Laneway by Veera Valimaki with my own handcoloured adventcalendar! My daughter and me found 24 balls from stash and coloured them, spliced them in half, put them in bags and numbered them randomly. So now every day is superfun to wake up to a new colour to put in the tunic! Isn’t it great to make your own fun😄 Enjoy the rest of the colours and the beautiful end result. Happy holidays🎄🧑🎄

I always love your podcasts Selma! Your knits as usual are inspiring. Had to chuckle when you confessed to enjoying some YA books, because I do too and I’m 67! Good reads cross age limits I say and sometimes reading stories aimed at a younger audience keeps my mind young and reminds me of what young people struggle with.

And I think they go to the heart of the story and don’t waste time on too many details so you really get into them from the first page. A good story is a good story!!

That shawl pin is gorgeous and is PERFECT for the cardigan. I would like to find something similar because I'm wanting to make the cardigan too once I get the mohair ordered. I'm getting my advent yarn wound up and ready to cast on for the Caramel Cardigan. You and Kate have inspired me. I hope mine turn out half as good as yours. I like how colorwork looks but it intimidates me still. I would probably start with a hat.

Selma, I really enjoy your presentations. I would like to make a suggestion which is not a criticism. I appreciate that you share various websites with us, whether it is a craft or yarn source or a particular designer. I wish you would list them all at the end of your show underneath your screen so as to have more time to write them down or refer back to them when necessary. Thank you for showing us all of your beautiful work!

Just wanted to let you know that I was so taken with your chicken mug that you often drink from. I couldn't get it out of my mind. So with a bit of internet investigation, I got in touch with the potter and she was very gracious and I was able to order my very own chicken mug although I was very tempted to order the sheep mug but resisted. So thanks for that bit of encouragement to buy something I absolutely didn't need!

I’m excited for the Colourplay KAL; I’ve a mosaic shawl pattern, the Confundo by Barbara Benson, which has been waiting for me to cast it on. I’ve beautifully bright Studio Donegal yarns for it, too! It will be my 1st go at any type of colour work, it’s great to learn something new. I like the sound of the second book you mentioned, I will note the name and look for it library. I enjoyed Homegoing, but at the moment am not up for anything too heavy, so I will wait to read her 2nd. But I may have a look at the third author you mentioned. Thanks for the recommendations!

I knitted a baby sweater using this technique a few years ago, not realizing that it was mosaic 😁. You have inspired me to try my hand at a shawl as well. We could do with more mohair in the world! Great looking house sweater. I always cringed when knitters were using Malabrigo Worsted for their February Ladies Sweaters. I used to call it a self pilling yarn. Beautifully dyed but not a long wearing choice.

@@littlebigknits I’m glad you like it! After I finished it I told my husband that I was really sad that it was over. I wanted to know what happened to the characters in the next part of their lives. I liked “the house we grew up in” but not as much as invisible girl. The characters are a little perplexing and complex. It’s interesting to think about their motivations for the different things they do. I think it’s definitely worth reading if you haven’t.

Just love when I see a new podcast by you Selma.... always look forward to your intro music and videos. :) I too am a vest lover but I’ve yet to make one until I saw yours 😍 Did you follow the pattern instructions except for the size of needle and yarn? Or were there more mods you can share, please? Also, I just noticed that your wall colour is almost identical to mine, which we just painted in the summer. I guess we have similar tastes which is probably why I love your show so much. Thank you for sharing your lovely life with us.

Salma, I watched season 4 of The Crown and I had the exact feelings as you. I was in my early 20's when Dianna married and I vividly remember the royal wedding. Hi Selma: A lovely podcast, as usual! I attempted knit a double brim hat with 2 strands of fingering weight baby alpaca yarn three times and had to rip it out because when I attached it together, the brim started to sway and stitches started to not line up. So I had to rip out. After three tries, I gave up and knitted a regular fold up brim hat. Do you any idea why the two did not line up after the first six or seven stitches. Is it because it was too thick? I couldn’t understand it. The pattern did not call for knit the hat to be knitted in 2 strands, but I like the warmth and didn’t have or ever work with mohair for the second strand. Thanks for sharing! Have an awesome, healthy, and joyous Christmas and New Year’s! ❤️❤️

Seriously? It is simple to add 2 stitches to make your project divisible by 4 or 8 and it wouldn't make much, if any, difference in fit. Perhaps you are joking.
