Maybe I'm looking too far into it but I think it might be because lesbian is often treated as a dirty word that should never be said. Even in lesbian positive media, they don't say the word 'lesbian.' steven universe for example was trail-blazing in the world of lgbtq representation not only in cartoons but just in general, and never once did they say "lesbian," "gay," or any lgbtq words despite the fact that they had multiple lesbian couples on screen, and even a lesbian wedding. Kurtis is obviously an lgbtq supporter, but we've been taught to believe that doesn't always include the word "lesbian" or any lgbtq word. To see him say that so freely, without the subtle implication that lesbian is a dirty word, is breaking a boundary. We don't get to hear people say lesbian very often. It feels good to see someone we respect acknowledge us even in such an insignificant way. Like I said I'm probably looking too far into this 🤣

I left my abusive boyfriend today, he was fighting with me over me texting my best friend and making it into a huge thing so I finally worked up the courage to call the cops on him. They came and told him to leave for the day, told me to call if he came back tonight. Next week, when my federal return comes in, I'm taking our daughter and finally leaving for good. It hurts, but I'm so glad I finally worked up the courage to get help with my situation and I'm so glad that I can raise my daughter with no abuse or anything of the sort. 💕
