Bless to all medical personnel that go through this stuff because they truly care and work hard to just hold themselves together. I'm glad she's able to cry because it's a healthy way to let it out.

After many years as the supervising RN on the night shift...we had an 18 months old baby come in with no vital signs. The child was cold and blue...had obviously been gone for a while. Still...I met the parents in the parking lot..grabbed the baby and began doing what I could as I ran to the trauma bay. We worked for over 2 hours before the Dr stopped the code. I couldn't stop! He physically had to pull me away from the baby. That's been years ago. I'm retired now and I'm crying while typing this. Did I ever get numb to what I saw? This is so true. I had to stay at the hospital for a few weeks when my Dad had cancer. Everyone knew it’s terminal and the nurses had so much empathy not just for my Dad but for my family. They would do a lot of little things to make sure we are comfortable because it’s not comfortable sitting there all day watching your loved one waste away. Those “littles” acts of kindness and compassion meant a lot to me. It’s the reason I try to volunteer for charities sometimes because u never know what kind of difference it can make to others. Nurses are awesome. They make everything possible. We as doctors write the orders (sometimes at the request of nurses) and the nurses take care of the rest. They are the shoulder the patients can cry on, they're the ones who give the medicine and the treatments, they take the patients from place to place, they keep them clean and happy, they keep track of how well the patient is doing and make sure to coordinate whatever additional care they need, they are the biggest advocates for the patients' well-being. Everyone in healthcare plays a crucial role but, in many ways, nurses are at the core of making it all work. Thank you for everything you do!

We used to get e-mails and letters ( yes, the English people still think a hand written letter is closer to your heart than an electronic one). The policy of our hospital was to circulate those letter of appreciation through internal e-mails. Over that, we had a wall in the lunch room covered with 1000s of Thank you cards. Oh, I miss those days.

Agree! On the flip side of that, us male patients are kindly asking you female nurses one thing..... could you please stop sexually abusing Male patients when we are unconscious and under anesthesia. Most commonly going up to innocent defenseless unconscious male patients under anesthesia and lifting their gowns up for NON MEDICAL REASONS but to laugh and gawk and sexually humiliate them then further sexually degrade them by gossiping about their genitals even to other women outside the hospital. Or PURPOSELY leaving unconscious male patients exposed when it isn't NECESSARY and having other female nurses who have NO BUSINESS with that patient come in and look I could go on and on and on with stories. And the female nurses who dont do this stuff but turn a blind eye to the ones that do and dont report them are JUST as complicit, they absolutely would report it if it were male hospital employees doing this to unconscious female patients but they ignore it because its being done to male patients by female nurses. So ya, can female nurses stop sexually assaulting unconscious male patients. Just remember.... due to the environment EVERY female nurse helped create either by participating in it or ignoring it, allowing female nurses to sexually assault unconscious Male patients, remember that YOUR sons, brothers, fathers, husbands, your best friends sons, nephews have been sexually abused thanks to the environment they helped create. So well done female nurses YOU ALL created an environment that allowed your OWN SONS AND FATHERS to get sexually assaulted by female nurses at hospitals. Good job should be proud of yourselves 👏👏👏

Student nurse here! I got to go to the ER for a clinical rotation a few days ago and let me tell you, those nurses are some of the best. They're very on top of things and very aware of their patients. One patient coded the day I was there and they had him resuscitated, ventilated, sedated, restrained, and took an x-ray in less than 20 minutes. They also shared a lot of rectal stories with me. (Please don't stick things up your butt guys.)

My ex was a nurse back in the 70's and 80's, when they still had to wear white uniforms and hats. At least once a month she would go to work in her uniform and come home in scrubs. I almost never saw those uniforms again and, after a couple of times, I learned not to ask what happened to them.
@hummingbird92216 жыл бұрын
I've lost several uniforms that way. My Hubby learned not to ask too!

Jasmin Zamora blood, diarrhea, vomit. Most of the times you can avoid the latter. When a patient is bleed out you tend not to care if your clothes get soiled

So I have a similar condition to the fainting women! Not fun at all! I’ve had a lot of concussions because of it. When my brother was sixteen DAYS old he had open heart surgery. He is now almost sixteen and is thriving thanks to the wonderful care staff of the hospitals! I have a true appreciation for work like this! Thank you for being badasses!

I just graduated college with a BS in biology. I want to go into medicine, but I’m not exactly sure where, and I want some hands-on experience before I commit to too much more school. I’ve been thinking seriously about nursing, and this gave me some reassurance that it’s something to look into because the things these women talked about resonate with me and I’d love to be like them! ❤️

My youngest daughter was born with a rare defect, shone's complex HLHS. She is 5. She's had the Norwood, Glenn, and Fontan. Fully paced. Still very much g tube dependent. Nissen twice. Thankfully she very bright. When the nurse teared up it hit me again. Nurses are there day in and day out monitoring everything and they all hold a special place in my heart. Many nurses and doctor's have seen my wife and I at weak moments. Thank you for doing what you do.

The smells that kill me are the homeless, or elderly that come in with the smell of urine embedded into their skin. Had one of our bird patients (frequent flier) come back in last night and we could tell he had not been taking care od himself again. Sometimes it's more sad to see than anything.

I am in the ER and hospital a lot because I have several chronic health issues and the one thing that has bothered me the most is that, because my issue doesn’t seem like it is life threatening (based on the nurses lack of knowledge on the disease), a lot of ER nurses treat me like I am a pill seeker or don’t really check up on me or just seem bored because I’m not some person who cut off a finger or something really exciting.
@CiPp356 жыл бұрын

Rather than the ER (where people with either LIFE ofr *LIMB-threatening afflictions are supposed to go)... if your hospital has an URGENT CARE section, then maybe you should go there instead? You should try seeing your doctor or a specialist with your condition more often too if whatever you have impedes your day-to-day life It sucks that some nurses act like that towards you - you're still someone seeking medical help :( But yeah. Definitely go to urgent care instead!
@brandimunguia6 жыл бұрын
The thing you all missed in my comment is that my issues are life threatening. I always end up getting admitted every time I go and having to stay at least a week to get my levels in a healthy range. Not something urgent care could do for me. I get that I am not bleeding out, but I am still a person and the ER I go to is always VERY slow, so there is no reason the nurse can’t come check on me at least once while the dr is waiting on my test results.
