Britney Spears will forever be a legend for this album. 2007 was the year Britney was heavily mistreated by the media, paparazzi and her father but she was still able to release one of the best pop albums of all time. she’s a genius

And shows how meticulously the whole album was written. The perfection she has with the opener "its been a while... I shouldn't have keep you waiting...but I'm here now..." whenever she decides to tour or performance again? Who thinks like that? The album as whole has layers and layers that do this I still find and I'm amaze by it

Blackout is Britney's magnum opus. It's so good. The fact that she created a brilliant piece of art while she was going through a mental health crisis is genius. I hope she doing well and is now living the kind of life she wants. Britney deserves an apology for how she was treated back then.

The fact that this album STILL sounds current and fresh despite being 15 years old speaks on how damn good it is. Opening with the iconic "It's Britney Bitch!" line, it's clear in so many ways why this album is practically the blueprint for pop music after it was released. Every song on it is fantastic and it's extremely rare for me to say that about every song on the album. One of my favourites is the bonus track, 'Everybody'. The Sweet Dreams hook sample works so damn well especially with Britney's voice.

This is namely britney's best album, critically and artistically, which de facto set the tone of how pop music can be in late 00s and early 10s. Most of its sounds still sounds modern and fresh even to this day, with lots of artists and ordinary people still seeking inspiration in this 15 years old album.

What the media did to Britney (and other famous women of the time) is disgusting. This was actual harassment and invasions of privacy that she went through, plus the whole ordeal with her family is nuts. She was still always making genuinely good music. As a guy I has my sexuality questioned on many occasions back when liking pop meant you were gay and uncultured. Now they’re a bit more recognized but even then Britney needs more credit for just how talented and revolutionary she was. Thanks for the great video as always Naomi!

The album literally has no skips. Gimme More is such a perfect pop song and it still sounds fresh to this day. GTA V even has that song in the game and it will play at 5tr1p clubs around town, which is just fitting because the game is a satire of California. I can't really choose which track is my favorite, but Heaven on Earth is a highlight since it's so different than the rest. It has this ethereal nighttime drive kinda vibe that could fit well with the 80s revival we're having in pop currently. Pop wouldn't be what it is today with her and Danja's futuristic production.

Growing up alongside Britney (I remember when her debut dropped), Blackout is one of my personal favorites from her and only gets better over time. The fact she was able to create such a masterpiece in the middle of the whirlwind her life was at that time shows a focus, a talent, an indomitable spirit that rarely comes along. Fun facts on blackout: Alot of Rihanna songs from GGGB were meant for blackout; this includes the title track 'GGGB', Breakn Dishes, Cry, Push up on me and even the smash hits DSTM and Umbrella! Sources can be found from the producers themselves (the dream and Ne-yo) There were also songs from other artists that were offered to Britney, such as 'Flaws and All' from Beyonces 2006 album 'Bday' as well as the P*ssycat Dolls 'When I Grow up' Blackout was created to magnify the sound of not only Nelly Furtados 'Promiscuous' but also 'SOS' by Rihanna Timbaland was reportedly 'jealous' over his protege Danja getting the attention from Britney in the studio. Timbaland and his frequent collaborator, and Britneys ex, Justin Timberlake, reached out to Britney to record a collaboration called 'Battle of the Sexes'. Britney agreed to this but never flew out to record the collaboration - the demo by JT can be found on youtube Break the Ice was chosen as the 3rd single after Jive asked a fansite to vote for the 3rd single. Radar was intended as the 3rd single but Jive followed through with the poll and chose BTI instead (with Toy soldier being a close 2nd) Billboard has ranked album track 'Freakshow' at no.69 on the greatest deep cuts of all time It was rumoured that Britney was supposed to incorporate some 'magic tricks' for her Gimme More vma performance Lastly, Blackout has been heavily appreciated by Britneys peers and the new generation of Popstars that came after. Beyonce, Rihanna and Avril Lavigne all mentioned that they like Britneys new music (blackout) and even called it 'catchy'. It is obvious to see the music industries change in landscape BEFORE and AFTER blackouts release; just look at songs such as 'Just Dance' by Lady Gaga, 'Sweet Dreams' by Beyonce, 'Tiktok' by Kesha and even Hiphop songs such as 'Kiss me thru the phone' by Soulja Boy and 'backseat' by New boyz Blackout is truly influential and deserves its flowers!

blackout is my favorite piece of art of all time. britney and danja absolutely killed it. i feel so much for dear britney, i cant imagine what it was like to go through that. it’s amazing what artists can pull off when they’re at their lowest. she deserves so much more praise for this albums and of course in general for the absolute sheer talent she has in that little body of hers. she’s always been so powerful to me. but she’s also very human. i wish people would just be kinder to her 😢 i hope that she’s doing everything her heart desires at the moment.

it’s been speculated that the original concept for “Gimme More” was themed around Elvis. that’s why Britney referenced “Trouble” during her 2007 VMA performance and i believe that theme was also supposed to be incorporated into the music video, but was scrapped for whatever reason. it’s a shame because i think it could’ve been executed really well. this era was iconic but for all the wrong reasons. if everything had went well and they incorporated a theme throughout her music video and performance… i think we could’ve got some of the best material from Britney.

It’s crazy how we applaud the greatness of the album when Britney was mentally going through a lot around that time. Releasing music back then was more contractural, compared to the artist who are lazier and have more freedom to release music at their own speed today. Blackout is still great but we should be happy that her life didn’t end tragically.

It breaks my heart to see so many people making fun of a person that is clearly not ok. As a bipolar myself, I know what it feels like to do things without realizing what am I doing, or even where I am. It was clear that she had maniac episodes, she smile, than she cried right after she shaved her head, even her expressions where confused, and she could not even try to forget whet happened, cause it was all over the news the very next day. Shame on these people that get money taking advantage from a person that desperately need help.

She should've never apologized for doing the things she did. The shaving was a cry for help. That was the sign she wanted to be left alone. I would also wreak havoc on everything and everyone if the same things were done to me. She never got the break she deserved.

Not to minimize the criticism and media carping that artists face these days, but I'd always recall what Brit went through in the 2000s and think that what these "stars" are experiencing today is just child's play by comparison.

Oh yes I remember when I bought this album I was so excited. I was too young and didn’t know about all of her issues during that time. I hope that she’s happy now and lives the life that she wants to.

I love this series. I really feel so bad for everything Britney when through. I really hope she has some simblessness of happiness now. An album for consideration, sorry I know you said newer but BTS Wings album. Thank you.
