There's like a live studio version of this. You can see all the instruments. It shows the names and stuff at the beginning but that goes away. |t's pretty cool watching everybody do their thing. Thanks for the reaction. Have a good day.

Eric Burden brought such a raw presentation of the Blues into my life early on. Those first few albums helped to hardwire an affinity for the Blues into my life.

There are two stories about the meaning behind this song. A band members spilled a glass of wine into one of the mixing boards during a recording, the other is that the title is referring to someone shooting heroin, and how a drop of blood dripped from the needle. I don't know which or if any of that is fact, but that's the story I've heard for many years.

This song is the ultimate in psychedelic rock. I got to see Eric Burdon several years ago, in Santa Cruz. Anyway he told the story of his first trip to San Francisco. He landed, had the driver take him to Haight Ashbury area and the first thing he saw was George Harrison walking down the street with people following him throwng flowers at his feet. He said then he spent the next three weeks in someone's basement-he has no recollection of those three weeks. My guess- lots of chemicals. EB was so much fun in concert. So many great Animals tunes and he did this song which brought the house down.

Eric Burden (British) formerly of "The Animals", is such a great talent, with so much soul. He has to be almost 80 years old by now, if not older, and he's still with us as far I know.

My favourite Funk band of the 1970's with Eric at first then Howard Scott mainly taking over the vocal duties. This is where I became fascinated with Lee Oskar's harp (Harmonica) playing, backing up Harold Brown on brass. Besides this song, which alludes to spilling blood (wine) while taking that pearl (heroin), 'All Day Music', 'Slipping into Darkness', 'The World is a Ghetto', 'Cisco Kid', 'Low Rider' & 'Why can't we be Friends' are all worth listening to.

Always enjoy your reactions! I knew you would appreciate this song…. You would LOVE a song called “A Whiter Shade of Pale” it’s by a group called “Procol Harum”. 1967. Definitely studio version first, then later on, the same song live in Denmark in 2006! It’s…….. amazing!!!!!!! 🤠 Thank you for your reactions! We love them!

Loved Eric Burdons collaboration with War. War went on to have a lot of great hits themselves, The World is a Ghetto and Low Rider are two good ones. No Shawn, never have ever heard spill the wine the way you described. To me it's an old way of saying pour the wine.
