@@WilliamCurry-bh3dk I know. Paul wrote about Eric:"pleasant character". and "Eric was loveable". Chapter 36, Original book Face The Music. Some people think, it was Paul.

The Great Awaking 5150 He does paint an unflattering picture of Eric in the book which feels tacky. A bunch of what he said just didnt add up. I love Paul, but his fragile ego and nasty side becomes evident in this book. Throughout it he intensely scrutinizes everyone in his life (except for his current wife and kids) while consistently telling a version of events where he was apparently always smart, reasonable, and innocent. Paul cant stand to ever look bad whatsoever and becomes vicious over any minor or perceived slight...Probably stemming from his childhood trauma over his ear deformity and cold parents.

My drummer cousin and I met Kiss backstage in 1990 on a contest win. At this point, Eric had just had his drum solo reinstated into the setlist. If you remember, it had been cut out and Eric retaliated by growing a light beard and wearing pajama pants onstage lol...so, when we met Eric, who was so genuinely awesome, my cousin said to him: "Hey, I heard you got your solo back in the show! Don't let those 2 knuckleheads push you around!" Eric looked all around himself, as if checking to see where Gene was (Paul was not there), then looks at my cousin and says, "I won't". If Paul's account is accurate it seems as though Eric lived in fear or lacked self esteem. Hell, there's no shame in that. He's human. I believe Elvis Presley lacked self esteem if you can believe that. If he did then anybody could. I'm not claiming that was Eric Carr's situation, but if it was I definitely respect that. He's the new guy on one of the most famous successful bands ever. That's a huge responsibility. If he was distraught about not being the original drummer that seems to me to be an "odd man" out feeling and harkens back to the whole self esteem issue. I'm not in the business or anything, but I never heard anything negative about Eric Carr. From what I've read and heard he was a very nice man. It's a shame we lost him so soon.

“Eric struggled with the fact that he wasnt the FIRST drummer”...such a loaded statement. Paul tries to make Eric look crazy as someone who resents not being to magically become the original drummer...when to me its pretty obvious that Eric likely resented always being a second tier/hired gun member instead of a full fledged member despite all his contributions and how much time he put in...Gene and Paul are pretty notoriously greedy and power hungry, I can understand Eric growing to resent making significantly less money and having virtually no say in band decisions despite helping reshape the bands sound in a successful way and going out of his way to connect with fans.

Paul’s carefully modulated, monotone voice betrays how hard he’s trying to convince everyone and himself that he’s not the bad guy. It’s really lame to speak ill of the dead, especially someone you worked with for ten years. The fact that Paul threw so much shade at Eric clearly shows how insecure and petty Paul really is.

JJ 87 Paul was very calculated. He absolutely painted an unflattering picture of Eric Carr. He made him look naive, dumb, irrational, and moody plus he never copped to how he mistreated Eric. Gene and Paul paid him peanuts compared to their share, never gave him a say in decisions, replaced him as soon as he got sick. They treated Eric as a liability when he wasnt able to be at their beck and call bc he was having health problems. Gotta make more money. They kept the band as their main priority despite Eric’s medical issues. Left him behind. Paul paints this picture where Eric and his family abruptly became hostile towards Paul/Gene for no reason. Throughout the book Paul is always the victim. Any relationship that became strained was 100% never his fault. It was always the other person being irrational, jealous, greedy, or just deciding to hate Paul for no reason.

We hired you". *Paul to others:* _-"Eric is delusional and wants to become an original member of the band. That's impossible because he wasn't there when we founded the band! What a schmuck!"_

Stan, I couldn't agree more. The guys in Iron Maiden behave like a band. Steve Harris is the boss, but they are all band members. They even kept Jannick when Adrian returned. That's camaraderie! KISS is a corporation owned by Gene and Paul. The drummer and lead guitarist are employees.

The late Dave Holland wasn't a band member. He was a hired hand. When Priest was sued after that suicide in 1988 (I think) in Nevada, Dave wasn't in court. I couldn't figure out why. Then I read he was never an actual member of the band and thus, was not named in the suit against Priest. Even though it wasn't Dave on Stained Class, the parents of the boy sued the band as of 1988. Dave wasn't officially in it, so he wasn't in court. But I still get your point. Priest was far better to work for than Paul and Gene. What a pair of schmucks.

Even if this stuff is true, then I don't get why Paul feels obligated (Outside of money) to share this with the world. If he cared or respected Eric in any way, he could have spared Eric's friends, family and fans any negative, but trivial aspects of Eric. In the short period of time that Ace worked with Eric, he shows more love and respect for him than Paul ever did. I think there is some personal & professional jealousy issues involved. Eric is one of the most beloved and respected Kiss members even though he's not an original.. Bruce said that Eric was a little pushy when it came to songwriting and wanted to contribute more, but in the end, was basically informed, he's just a hired gun.. Sadly, all Eric wanted to do, was offer more input into a band that he helped resurrect in the 80's. In the 25 years since Eric died, he's still beloved and considered not only one of the most important members of Kiss, but now is getting the recognition for his drum playing. Kiss fans know he was more than just a hired gun.. In the last 25 years, Kiss has become more well known for being a nostalgic act with more emphasis put on quantity or quality. More style over substance. Which isn't too far from where they've always been, but at least in the past we got shades of creativity and more music driven albums like Creatures, Lick It up & Revenge.. I think Paul is somewhat jealous that two decades after his death, Eric is held in more high regard than Kiss is as a whole.

Ungrateful is just in the video title. Paul never once said, or even implied that he was ungrateful. It must have been hard for you to have to be in the middle between Eric, Paul, and Gene, during that difficult time... Oh! You weren't there? Well then how the fuck do you know what really happened. Unless you have some kind of proof, that isn't here say, then kindly shut the fuck up. You didn't have to watch too many Eric Carr videos to realize that he was a very small fish, in a gigantic pond... Sort of like a guppy in the Pacific, and you could tell that he felt pretty small time. Eric Carr was far too sweet of a person, for the situation he was thrust into, and simply lacked the confidence to ever feel secure. Insecure people are desperate, and do desperate things... Like constantly obsess. His obsessing would have inevitably been passed onto his friends and family, who were always around, because he was sick. Anyone in his situation would grow increasingly bitter, desperate, and looking for a place to lay blame. No disrespect to Eric. He was in a nightmare, and reacted how many, many people do, when they realize that life is moving ahead, while you must come to grips with the fact that you're being left behind, and soon checking out. The fact is, that sort of situation is hard enough for an average regular person. For someone living out a dream, like Eric Carr... It must be that just a little bit harder to accept. The intense feelings of loss he had to have been experiencing could have certainly caused him to wrongfully blame Paul and Gene for everything. And in such situations, the family members of the person left behind, while life moves on, can be as, if not more bitter than the person who is dying. KISS was Eric Carr's world. He lost everything including his life, at a very young age. With so much future stolen from him, it's no wonder things ended badly for pretty much everyone. I've heard for years about how Paul"bad mouths" Eric Carr in his book, and that he "doesn't ever respect the dead", and other such bullshit. Anyone with a fucking brain, regardless of functionality, should be able to recognize the love, and helplessness in Paul's words, when he wrote about Eric. There wasn't an unkind word in there, only confusion over Eric's sometimes erratic, unpredictable mannerisms. People need to grow up, and realize that Ace and Peter, and even Eric Carr, had serious issues, which made them hard to deal with at times. ... Or at least people need to learn how to fucking read. In my opinion, the dots definitely line up. I am quite confident that Paul is telling the truth on this one.

It's sad that Paul and Gene have, in a roundabout way, been slowly killing my affection for KISS every time they reach in to the past and open their mouths. If I watch or listen to an interview with Ace or Pete, it's like listening to two normal guys talk about rock and roll; I don't feel like I'm being spun, or that the narrative is being doctored or glossed to create a good impression. Not so with the other two original members.

I really hate to say it but, Gene and Paul even though they say they're not religious they completely feel exactly how the Torah reads, that all Gentiles are not human beings but rather animals and only they are human. They have treated all band members as tools and trash, us we d them and thrown them away and made themselves a shining diamond. Its the only reason I can think of for their behavior.

WARNING! This audio has been edited to make Paul seem bad. I have read the book and some of the material from the book has been cut out from this audiofile. An example of this occurs at 04:48 when Paul start to talk about the visit on the restaurant in Paris. Paul DID NOT call Eric a schmuck according to the book. Eric used to say that about himself when he messed up. Again, according to the book, Eric spilled wine on himself, looked up to the ceiling and said "What a schmuck" to himself. Everybody, look it up yourself if you don't believe me and stop commenting about Paul being an asshole until you get your facts straight.

In Kiss Xposed Paul says that after Eric Carr died, he was asking around about drummers and that a name that kept coming up was "Eric Singer" making it sound as if he didn't know him but had a reputation for being a great drummer so they brought him in to audition etc.... But here Paul says that Eric Singer was playing for him in his solo band while Eric Carr was still alive. Conflicting stories... maybe Eric Carr was right about them going to replace him with Eric Singer. Hmmmmm. Interesting....

I used to worship Kiss, ... my first album was "Alive", when I was 10 or 11 yrs. old. To find out just how dysfunctional and self-centered almost EVERYONE who has been associated with Kiss is disheartening. Paul, and especially Gene, appear to be self-absorbed to the extreme. Peter and Ace were/are drug addicts and alcoholics. And I haven't heard a good tune from them since "Love Gun". JMO

I thought the same as you. Such bullshit from Paul. He wrote this book when Singer/Thayer was in the band pretending to be Peter/Ace. Ridiculous statement from Paul. Eric and Vinnie got their own make-up, that was more legit than this.

read THE ERIC CARR STORY By Greg Prato. it will all make sense. Paul and Eric did not get along. Paul groomed Eric Singer to take Erics place and Carr knew it. it got to the point where Eric was keeping his eye out for bands in need of a drummer. it wasn't good between Eric and Paul towards the end. there's no doubt that some pretty shady shit went down between the business side of Paul Gene and the record company vs Eric Carr. but hey don't take my word for it. buy the book! just note that according to Erics best friend Gary Corbett, said Carrie Stevens is not telling the truth. some shit went down man. there's so much more to the story. sure made me doubt my attachment to the band because I was pissed by the events leading up to the fox's death.

Gary Corbett never said I wasn't telling the truth! Gary and I are very close to this day. Gary was on the road with Kiss, and saw different thing than I did...and had a own anger issues with Gene and Paul. We both agree some shady shit happened....Gary simply spoke in an angrier tone about it than I did. I try to find peace with the past. It's not healthy to stay in a place of anger. It's hard not to be angry...it's been a lot of work to get to this place. I choose to move on, but the world should know that Paul lied about Eric being on drugs...he wasn't. And he was not a drunk either. Eric was NOT a schmuck. And e neer made out with Ace. The called Paul, "Phyllis" on the road. He shouldn't talk...God bless.

Carrie Stevens right on. No disrespect intended at all. You're right. Corbett did not say you were being dishonest in the book. He said so in an interview I saw on KZbin. I forget which vid. I should have mentioned I wasn't talking about the book. If you n Gary are close then it's all good, again I didn't mean to come off as an ignorant shit disturber. The book did leave a very sour taste in my mouth. Of course Eric is not with us anymore and that's heartbreaking. He was my favourite member when I was a little kid and still to this day. Reading your response is refreshing and freeing. Nice to see you took the higher road and moved on with integrity. 🕊🌷Wow long reply here eh lol. GOD BLESS PAULIE CARAVELLO.

What is so wrong with wanting an ordinary girl instead of a model or penthouse pet ? Why did that make Eric seem troubled or why would that been seem as some sort of character flaw .
