@@SharpCinema "No compliments"? is not true. Ace was brilliant, funny, had aura...We had good times. Not one critical word about Bob Kulick, Bruce Kulick, Anton Fig etc. And what he wrote about his ex-wife is nicer than how most men talk about their ex. When the lover, Amanda, wanted to buy drugs he told her not to come back! Maybe brutal, but it was clearly self-defensive. And his criticism is the other side of his SELF criticism. I used to always champion Ace and Peter…I read all of their books…and by far the most honest and believable one was Paul. And in his interviews since I have changed to where I believe Paul and respect his decisions. Seems very honest and humble. He didn’t get handed anything, he earned it all. And honestly how can anyone dislike that? He’s the man.

I read Paul's book and have mixed feelings. He criticizes almost everything and everyone in it. (I like their music, especially the unmasked era with Bruce Kulick.) Paul criticizes some people so often in the book that I find it strange. If what he described is true, it's hard to understand why he stayed in a relationship/band with certain people for many years. Money is not the answer, because he earns well even with the current lineup. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that there is no truth in what he wrote.
@tymiller25262 жыл бұрын
@@80s_kid I hear ya…I think I see it the way I see it because although he certainly criticized others a lot (especially Peter), at no point does he champion himself as flawless. @@80s_kid It came off to me as a highly slanted version of the truth where he was always right and everyone else in his life was always wrong…he attacked Ace for dressing up as a Nazi (which I’m not defending) and described how hurtful and awful it was for him to do that. However, there are pictures of Paul dressed as a Nazi too, posing with Ace and looking to be having a blast…which Paul didn’t address. Just for the record...when Peter left I sent a promo pack in to try to get the gig. After ERic Carr got the gig...he played a big black drum set kinda like mine only a little bigger. Mine was 14 drums and 18 cymbals. I love to hear you talk Paul...and now it helps center me as I have becomed disable and unable to play since 2012. A real innovator of that style. The bands earlier records we're the the most colorful, photogenic, and jammed with the coolest stuff inside, stickers, tattoos, posters, etc! Nobody packaged records that before, and the music was so tight, rocking and mixed to perfection! Listen to those early records with headphones on cranked up ! Amazing! I've been a fan my whole life. Yeah their music is not meant to be chart topping master pieces, they were just doing this for fun and get laid. Paul was just a regular guy that pursued a dream.

I'd definitely start exploring the band by listening to their studio and live material 1974 - 1977. Three years, that's about how long the real KISS lasted. It's pure magic if you listen without prejudice. Nothing but raw power, all virtually unpolished except for Destroyer, which is a cinematic musical endeavor, a superproduction so to say. Welcome aboard!

I can’t name a KISS song. And I loved this interview. So appreciate your words and philosophy, Paul. And that mantra: QTR. Fellow non-conformist, my own life has taken one serious turn after another. I was an artist, dancer, teacher, director: I built two companies and worked many jobs to make it all happen, I had dreams that broke the ceiling. A rare cancer diagnosis at 24 halted everything. Grueling treatments, a bone marrow transplant, then a severe chronic illness caused by the transplant that saved my life. It has limited research and treatments, I have chronic pain, failing lungs, myofascial muscular dystrophy and mobility loss, numerous near-death events (to sit and count them, it’s ridiculous. Heart attacks. Pulmonary Embolisms, back-to-back-to-back pneumonias & flu, horrific falls, a broken neck. On and on.), as well as ongoing family trauma and abandonment. Turns out all those cliches & platitudes are true: Life is short, unfair, not what you expect. So much harder than you ever thought. People can be incredibly cruel. And yet, against so many odds I am still here. I’ve almost died so many times. I tell you this: while you still breathe, there is still hope. There is joy to be found. So FIND IT. 10+ years of one breaker after another: I’m still picking up pieces of myself and building an entirely new everything. I am tired, and many days I have spent weeping. I don’t want to do that anymore. QTR. QUALITY TIME REMAINING. This whole Life thing is us making it up. Be kind to others and follow your joy. That is how we can be Light in a hurting world. Deeply engage with your surroundings: the people, animals, nature, everything you have near you. Hold on. Keep going.

I am so proud of myself that at the age of 7 (around the solo album/dynasty era) I recognized not only was this a legendary band, but also recognized the brilliance of Paul Stanley. His talent, his intelligence and his drive. Ace will always be #1 to me when it comes to kiss. Paul Stanley as a human being is on another level. Paul if you ever read this.
