This also explains why *The Cleveland Show* failed: Seth MacFarlane’s seething contempt for religion and for the South. Meanwhile, *Family Guy* reduced the show to yelling, Dyn-O-Mite, and “Black names are funny” in the episode where Peter watches an episode. In kissing Norman Lear’s ass, maybe Seth should have aimed for the part his production company pulled *the Facts of Life* out of. Perhaps then, Meg Griffin would be a much better-written character.

The only way Netflix can redeem themselves from this for me is if they do the following: 1. Remove this show asap 2. Contact Aaron Mcgruder and the original cast of The Boondocks (John Witherspoon’s son to replace him) to reprise their respective roles 3. Get Jordan Peele and Donald Glover to produce and oversee it 4. Get studio Mappa or hell even Toei to animate this project 5. Either make this project the last season or an animated film that ties the previous story together and touch on all the current controversial issues and the issues they’ve missed during the years they were on hiatus 6. Maybe we as fans can spread the word and start a petition before it’s too late

Thanks so much for the interview credit, Ms. Carlena sent this to me. Thanks so much for pushing this nonsense for her and the family. Shame on the celebs who thought it was a good idea to support this garbage.

I would have watched this if it were called anything other than Good Times

My eyes popped wide open when they just played that clip. I cannot believe they did that. I was born in the 90s, so Good Times isn't of my time, but I have respect for it and enjoy it for what it stood for. This is just garbage.

I'm not surprised to see JB Smooth attached to this but I'm kind of shocked at Cree & Yvette Nicole Brown. Maybe there's something I'm not seeing but it looks like trash to me.

I'm with you. I'm shocked that Marsai would attach herself to this. Her career is young what is she thinking?! This is a classic show.

There are some things that can't be captured twice and with a different cast. This is one of them. Some of these producers stay on trying to burn down my childhood 😂 It's a hard NO...

This show is like a slap in the face to any black person who has ever lived......It's like a production company looked at all possible black stereotypes & said lets use them all.

I’m going to say this, whether people like me whether they cancel me whoever and higher power when you have made a great,phenomenal,classic body of work that will be left for centuries, the other side that never supported, you never believed in you never thought that you could accomplish it And just wanted to keep their 👣foots👣on your neck they have to find a way to shame you they have to find a way of humiliating. They have to find a way of disrespecting you, but you hold your head up high and let them think that they’re doing something when they’re really not .

I read an article about this show not too long ago and when I saw the trailer, let's just say I was surprised I made it all the way through that absolute abomination of a reboot trailer. This, ladies and gentlemen, was an act of creative rape, especially just by what was discussed in this video. No other way to describe it for me other than that. The OG show had WAYYYY more class this crap...an infant drug dealer??? Really? Hell the eff no! That crossed the line. I am disappointed in Norman Lear right now, for real. He knew better...
@convictionnotice13 ай бұрын
I'm actually not surprised by Lear. He was an idea thief and he knew nothing about black life. Anything good that we saw in the black shows he produced were things that the black actors had to fight for.
@convictionnotice13 ай бұрын
I knew it. I said after I saw that trailer that Esther Rolle would be turning in her grave, and there's no way John Amos would approve of this. I was at first intrigued to hear of a Good Times reboot (since Good Times is one of my favorite shows). Then, I saw some of the prominent black artists attached to it (including voice acting legend Cree Summer) and I was willing to give it a shot. Then, the trailer dropped. Part of me wonders if there's some redeeming quality of the show, given the people involved who I would think "know better" than to embarrass us. Gonna have to pass on this. Side note: don't know who let Seth MacFarlane come to the cookout, but I see his handprint all over the trailer.
@Taniere3 ай бұрын
I agree with you. I'm thinking the trailer may not be doing the show justice, because Cree and Marsai wouldn't dare. Or would they? I know these celebs will do anything for money.
