I think you hit the nail on the head early on in the video. The game from 3.0 to now removed many many layers of complexity or reasons that made the game much harder back then. Adding one or two of them back, or adding a small new level of complexity wont instantly brings us back to 3.0, but that seems to be YoshiP's outlook on it.

Cheaters, tool makers, etc are always going to find a way to do what they want, especially without an anti cheat trying to stop them. The community simply needs to stop allowing it, or as OP said, make your own static/pf and specifically state you don't want it in your party.

I think YoshiP still needs to constantly say addons are bad whenver possible. Back in the day people were under the impression that addons were a "don't ask, don't tell" type situation that was officially not okay but were still okay to use. Then some streamers started getting caught and people were surprised that you could get in trouble for it. I think them re-iterating it is good to remind old players and tell new players that SE's stance is that they're all bad and are not allowed. 3 simple answers: 1. Stop making Ultimate mechanics that all but NEED automarkers in PF. Seriously, automarkers outside of Titan Gaols were only normalised because TOP actively encouraged their use. Anyone remember the Forbidden Purgation Markers where the devs were literally too nearsighted to predict the possibility of a Purgation strat that used the full transformed arena? 2. Cactbot's biggest 'use' is for memory/recall mechanics. Any dumbass can pay attention to a tell or learn a strat to the point of it being muscle memory, but when the game deliberately delays resolving a mechanic, then layers in an entire-ass mechanic, THEN the first mechanic resolves, is it any wonder a glorified memory trigger helps? Heck, I'd probably use Cactbot just for BS like Fourfold Fires Stack/Spread, because trying to remember the initial stack/spread, plus the Fourfold positions, plus the visual tells for the puddles, was a pain in the ass. That's one of the few times a dedicated shot caller can and DOES give static raid groups an inherent advantage over PF warriors. 3. Arcadion being comfy was a godsend, and a well-deserved break for raiders after the hellscape that was DSR into Abyssos into TOP into Anabaseios. Throw the raiders a bone now and then with an easy tier or an easy final fight, or an Ultimate that doesn't make the previous one look like a joke. Trying to arms-race the third-party tools doesn't work, it's just far better for the game to make them redundant. Heck, this even goes for non-raiding tools too. Give the countdown timer a millisecond option, and EngageTimer becomes worthless. Make it less clunky to change MB listing prices, and the plogon for that loses value. Most non-cosmetic plogons are purely QoL options the game SHOULD have as standard, nothing more.

i dont think the game needs cactbot or act to to be playble or fun. however, i dont think SE should continue to stand against 3rd party software. cause the more they protest about it but not actually do anything the less serious they seem. Also the second they start taking action against the raiders using that software how long before the outrage makes them have to target casuals using Mare and the like? a large part of the enjoyment of the game for alot of people is enhaced by addons maybe its time they stop wagging their finger and find a new fight.

THATS THE whOLE REASON WHY THEY ARE ON THE FENCE. They can't just target one section of the 3rd party use because it opens a slippery slope on 'waht is allowed and what isn't.. If they target act and cactbot, those attacked will complain about mare since it is also 3rd party. Either they are fully against, or they are on the fence. Being on the fence lets people with mare and cosmetic addons to thrive while allowing a necessary evil like act and cactbot. At least this way, the game wont turn into WoW where you literally cannot raid higher difficulties without DBM.

Their stance on 3rd party is pretty clearly analogous to speeding. Damn near everyone does it and so long as you aren't being blatant about it, nobody cares, not even cops. The moment you flaunt it (or a cop needs to go fishing), then you're done. You're getting pulled over, being issued a citation, and the cops will tell you not to do it again. It's why Yoshi-P issues a blanket statement about 3rd party tools: it's his job so he has to say it the same way a cop has to tell you not to speed. He can't exactly tell you go out there and break TOS so there's his lip service to it every other interview. And yeah, it really isn't all that important to them I think. Like, I might be wrong, but the only time I hear the ban hammer drops for 3rd party tools is when someone is dumb enough to have it out there on the internet. But realistically how much more important should it be? I don't think that means they'll ever create a white/blacklist of what is and isn't allowed because tech moves too fast and it is a pandora's box of testing. Is the shiny "xyz" not allowed or has the list just not been updated? What criteria are used for allowing a tool? Can a tool be updated to meet the criteria? Who vets these programs? How well do they vet them? The list goes on and on and on... And allowing all 3rd party tools might open them up to being seen as endorsing adult content or copyright infringement which I 'm sure they don't want either. At the end of the day, "no 3rd party" is good enough and I think people are making a mountain out of a molehill.

While watching this, I went to check how many players already cleared the tier in ffxiv collect. It's estimated to be 4.2%. Meanwhile 7.0 MSQ clear is 24% compared to 6.0 MSQ is 75%.

Honestly most people I know have stopped playing the game regularly after a month of DT release. It's just kind of boring. Jobs play similarly, systems barely change, release cadence is the same with little innovation on things, it just feels so samey. I wish they'd just take more risk. Also people will never stop using software tools in any online game unless devs implement invasive measures to know if they are using or not. Idk why people keep arguing.

One thing I really hate, my experience with Apex Legends, my account got hacked, and the hacker played and cheated on my account. I retrieved my account back and changed the password, but my account has already been banned because of the hacker. I attempted to get my account unbanned multiple times, but EA still considers that I am a cheater, when it was the hacker who cheated on my account. So in the case for XIV, if this same situation happened, and I appealed when I did not cheat, they would permaban but despite my innocence.

I wished SAM was more satisfying to play. Be it through optional complexity/skill-expression/depth that can be applied to " All Content " vs Relying on how mechanic vomit something can be (which idc for) that is limited to " Savage/Ultimate ". I try to not let nostalgia cloud my vision with rose tinted glasses, but man sometimes I reminisce about the past Stormblood Samurai and have thought about what the job has lost in exchange for what we have today. I really miss how Samurai felt more flexible back then, a lot more free flowing, which now I believe was the original vision of the job. Besides the obvious removal of Kaiten that many people have asked to be brought back into the game, a simple action like Hissatsu Seigan, that was a small dps increase with a different Kenki cost than the rest of the kit, you just needed to properly utilize Merciful Eyes, the rotation overall being more free form, it didn't had the set in stone rotation strict rotation that aligns itself with eating 1 or 2 Sen every now and then, I know the game back then was very different (Samurai naturally running out of TP by just doing the normal GCD rotation sucked lol), but you had to be a bit more creative and flexible with the rotation to match different parts of the fights, situations that nowadays are only really found in some ultimate fights phases. Sure, people will say that numerically and functionally Iaijutsu actions having the added potency of Kaiten baked into them is the same has having Kaiten, but that simply is just not true at all, Hissastsu Kaiten, regardless of how minuscule and inconsequential it might seem in paper, added a lot of feel to the job, you felt good and satisfied when pressing that button, which ultimately is something that cannot be quantified in any form or manner, and, at least to me, made the job feel so much better and fun to play in practice than it is right now, this feel is, in my opinion, what the vast majority of jobs sorely lack in the current state of the game and the developers really need to take a look into it, rather sooner than later. I still like samurai, but damn I miss the older iteration of it.

I turned off numbers and flying text because then i would not focus on just playing. I would say try to just play the job, learn the stats and rotation yourself. you'll get much better fulfillment out of it than trying to match what someone is calling the meta. Might not be the best but will be your work and energy put into the job :)

My only complaint right now about ninja is that consoles are at a disadvantage when compared to PC players because it’s too difficult to control 9/8 during burst because they don’t have access to plugins for FPS Locking & reducing animation lock induced by ping. So competing with the top dps is pointless. That said, ninja still do fine without it

i understand all your concerns. but think about it this way. 1) You say practice before race, they might as well put the practice ingame along with the training dummy 2) yes simming is practicing the specific mechanics "without" doing the previous mechanics you already learn. might as well put checkpoints on every mechs or put a mechanics practice for every ult? 3) yes guides is basically cheating eversince overall all your opinions have a point. but for me sims is more powerful than a mere cactpot. they only reason it is ignored is because it takes a while for it to be developed (mostly after a couple of clears) but imagine if sims can be created almost as fast as triggers. we are basically not that far from WOW if we continue going this path

I literally call out people using add-ons. We had an ex-static member who tried to get other static members to download cactbot, I told him he was cheating and that we don't use add-ons that make raids easier in the static. We had more issues with him later and ended up kicking him.

People need to get away from this mindset of Cactbot being evil or whatnot. Personally leave it as it is - don't talk about it and that's the rule or risk being banned. WoW players have been doing DBM, Weakauras and all kinds of other tools which are not different from Cactbot - and not only is it the norm, but it's expected that you have these addons installed or you aren't allowed to raid. It's time to take some lessons from the WoW scene and stop acting as if DBM/WA is some otherworldly thing that doesn't exist, because it does. And so shall it be with Cactbot.
