In WW2 many shore lines in Puerto Rico were armed with cannons and anti air guns to protect Puerto Rico from a Nazi invasion, it's been said that during that time German u boats were spotted in the north of the island in the Atlantic Ocean .

Lo que viste en playa cañones es lo que queda de los 4 monturas tipo Panama de los obúses (cañones) de 155 milimetros (no eran antiaereos como dijo el don) y el lugar se llamaba Batería Aguada (1941-1946). Estos cañones (obúses es mas correcto) protegían la costa Oeste de los submarinos alemanes durante la Segunda Guerra Mundial. Howitzer

The most common caliber is a heavy gun is 155.mm U.S Army still uses them. In second place Is the 6. Inch gun and those are probably naval howitzers. So the 155.mm is longer range targets. 6.inch will put some nice holes in anything the Japanese had. Believe it or not there are private owners of 5. Inch guns in America. Sorry, thats really the Base ( bottom) tracks of a cannon, the cannon is no longer there , the cannon at is time could turn 380° degrees around on tracks, this bottom bases are all over the main island of PR And smaller islands like Vieques,culebra,Desecheo, palomino,ext at the time the shore line was farthest out, but coastal erotion have submerge some of this bases, that coastal area is dangerous cause coastal reefs have holes that you could fall in!!! , it happened before, culebra and vieques is my choice for the beaches , enjoy , stay safe
