Very cool but still missing some key factors. 1) Most "pirate Ninjas" no longer use the hand cuffs with the long chain in the middle they use hinge designs greatly reducing the space you have between your hands. Restricting the operation room you have. 2) "pirate ninjas" are taught to place the key holes facing away from your palms ( meaning the key hole is facing up when you hands are facing down or vice versa) essentially negating all of these "tricks". However still a good video for old school handcuffs and having a choice in keyhole placement.

Scam School Well, the problem here, is that if they do it right (as they are properly schooled to do, and should be doing always), the key holdes should not be facing your hands, but your elbows. And also, they should be using handcuffs without chain, but with joints (double or triple), which basically means you have to use some device to pick up the look with at least two joints, and still an amazing accuracy :-P That's what we learned in the army, and we had only a one-week course in handcuffs :-P We were mostly drilled enough that only one who used it put the cuffs on with key holes against hands.... I pressume copy are better instructed.... :-P

You know the cuffs are double locked because they will not lock snugger. You can feel the spring lever if the cuffs are not double locked. Plus, the cops or whoever has to insert the key pin to double lock them. If they are double locked, they are quite rigid and will not have any give. That is part of the reason for double locks. It takes more dexterity to pick the double lock when the cuffs are on. Even more when they are behind your back and the keyhole is on the wrong side (toward hand or toward elbow. I have tried different material to overcome the stiffness of the double lock on my Smith and Wesson cuffs. Peerless Cuffs are just as tough. Now, try picking hinged cuffs while they are on your wrists, in front or behind. btw, Possessing cuffs keys or picks can be a crime in many jurisdictions.

I saw how difficult it was to use the paper clip pick to unlock the double lock. Sure, you can do it with the cuffs in your hands but a paper clip will bend unless you can use extra 'English' as you twist. I've tried many different wires and the difference between in your hand vs on your wrist is substantial. Lets see you make the pick with the cuffs on your wrist.

I use a Bobby pin too, but I don't break it in half, I fold it and use the side with the grooves to undo the double lock then use the flat side to shim. Presto.

One more step. Any cop...cough...person trained in how to put cuffs on will not only put them behind your back but the keyway will be facing upwards (and double locked) so you can't get to it. On top of that I don't know any...person that still carries chain link cuffs anymore. They are all hinged so there is no contorting to get up to it.

forgive my ignorance, but are these more modern handcuffs or something (as far as the internal locking mechanism)? I used to mess around with my dad's handcuffs and to unlock the double lock I didn't have to go all the way to the top of the opening. I used a modified paperclip, and it was basically twist one way to unlock the double lock and twist the other way to unlock the single lock. I dont have x-ray vision so I dont know what my dad's handcuffs look like on the inside, but as far as the exterior goes they are identical. btw - when the "pirate ninjas" (lol) handcuff you, it will be behind your back (like you said) and palms facing outward. Do you think you have the dexterity to pick cuffs under those conditions?

Clearly for you, you have a show that you can ask people if they want to be on. Though you can break zip ties for the wondering there's plenty of vids on youtube showing how so search it yourselves. I taught myself how to break out of legit cuffs and double locked or not its actually kind of a joke once you figure it out. Then again I picked my first front door when I was 7 cause my friends parents left and locked him out to go outside and play. I was so surprised when I got it open cause I wasn't expecting it to happen but that rush when you break that first lock you haven't broken it's something only us lock picker enthusiasts can get. It's like a big surge of accomplishment and dopamine. Like a feeling of "yeah your luck sucks ass." Just something about getting into something that is made to keep people out has always intrigued me. Just don't ever try to escape cuffs in police custody. In most states that's an escape charge and a mandatory 10 year prison sentence. But to give you a hint get a fork. Break off one of the the mid sized tips. Now if you have a flash light good but I prefer to blind pick so I can mentally get an imagine of what the inside of the lock feels/looks like. But your looking for (if double locked a square like box and I shit you not all you have to do is is press it slightly to the right or left depending on which side of the cuff and it takes almost zero pressure. Then you got the main lock. It will look like a flat vertical piece of metal. Almost similar to the ratchets on the cuffs but not quite like I said its much smaller and more vertical. Your not going to get it your first try and if you do well congrats but practice practice practice and when I finally got it I was mesmerized how easy and stupid the design was to be honest. It goes without saying if you do this... for gods sake keep a real key nearby. Then you can start practicing behind your back. I was almost back to square one. Took me 15 minutes to get out first time but after a week I could be out in 15 seconds or less.

Cops in my city have screw in double locks on their cuffs. Not the simple press in you demonstrated on. I don't think they allow for such easy manipulation of the mechanism when the double lock is torqued in. I would love to see an escape of cuffs like these. I think it would be impossible without a strong custom made tool or the key.

these are cheap handcuffs. it is not that easy to make a key from papeclip or hair pin and you probably need both hands to do it. That bar in quality handcuffs is composed of several layers of metal all of which need to be lifted to open the lock. The double locking prevents use of shims. The double lock seen here is different in quality handcuffs you would just use the key or pick in the same direction to first unclick the double lock then to pick the lock. the best way to get out of handcuffs is to move your arms in figure 8 until the chain binds. you have to find that sweet spot then apply pressure to break the handcuffs. In this method the high end cuff will break easily where as as the cheap ones will be a bit harder as the metal tends to bend. When i say cheap were are talking $20 handcuffs and high end run about $80. High end have removable locks colour coded for various gov agencies so that the keys are slightly different. There is another type which does not use a chain these too can be brute forced open but i'm not familiar with that technique. As mentioned you don't want to break out for fun as it will add more charges against you. Only if it is an emergency and you are in danger would i attempt to break out and for this reason i think it is good to know how. Remember handcuff manufactures are also watching these videos and are constantly working on counter measures.
