I don’t understand how anyone could say he was a failure at Chelsea last year. That team is absolute trash in the PL and he got them to 6th. If they didn’t have Poch or Cole Palmer they would have been battling relegation.
@benoitwaffle5439Ай бұрын
No. With Poch, they spend most of the season between 12th and 9th. They won 7 of their last 10, which is a very good stretch. It is not the whole picture for a coach who was in charge the whole year.

I believe the attitude issues are stemming from soccer media hyping these kids as the next golden generation. US soccer is notorious for overhyping players, teams, leagues because they are desperate to get attention to their programs.
@logirexАй бұрын
That is true if you look at the USMNT they are valued around 25th in the world in terms of valuation of players for club football. That is also about where they perform last World Cup 🤷♂ I get it though if you tell the audience the players we have is not really good enough to compete at the highest level interest goes down.

If he is smart, few of the current players will play in the World Cup. He should go out and look for a certain type of American player...the kind of player who has a massive chip on their shoulder, hates that the soccer world looks down on US players, practices and plays every moment with something to prove, and is more than willing to put in the work that commands respect and strikes fear in the minds of other players.
@nigel_in_da_kitchen6997Ай бұрын
I agree, they need players that are hungry, these guys don't have the fire in them, that dog, you see them trying, but it's not coming out. And this is coming from someone who is neutral!.
@ZeroFamilonАй бұрын
This isn't club soccer. You can't fire your players and just buy new ones. The guys currently in the roster are the best we have. He is mostly going to be working with this same pool of guys. Maybe a few youth players have potential. But most aren't first team ready and realistically with the next World Cup 1.5 years away, they aren't going to drastically improve before then. The Federation really dropped the ball on bringing back Berhalter. Wasted 2 important years that could have been spent getting our players up and running under a better coach. I don't think Poch has enough time to really do much. Especially with no more serious tournaments until the World Cup. I am expecting a similar level of performance as the previous World Cup.

@@ZeroFamilon I guess the argument is that there are players who are technically worse but have better work rate, are more dedicated etc. If anything kicking couple guys out and bringing that type of players(probably from MLS) will light the fire under all the other "best" players. @@logirex The French pool is not comparable to the US. Many in the French pool are the children or grandchildren of immigrants, but born and raised in France. Samba and Camavinga were born elsewhere, but raised in France. Only Olise was raised outside of France. You cannot compare that to Musah and Balogun having their only connection to the US be that their parents were on vacation in the US when they were born. Johnny's Brazilian parents were working in the US until they had him. They moved back. Similar story with Marlon Fossey with his British mother. Antonee Robinson's father lived in the US for a time, long enough to naturalize, but chose to return to England where he ultimately settled down. Dest's father is the same way. Nothing is wrong with any of these decisions, but those kids didn't get raised in the US. They don't have family in the US. They have access to a passport, and nothing more. It is not the same as a team including a country's immigrant population.
