Mind Blown. I am a breast cancer survivor and my Dr told me to stay away from soy, which is difficult , because I have recently gone vegan to try to naturally bring my high cholesterol down. I can understand staying away from the processed stuff, but Tofu and edamame? That never made sense to me.... Tofu here I come! :)

Mindblown..... 2 minutes of Utubey vid. Is your research?! Did you eat lots of Tofu , since this & what where the results? This Vid. IS, irresponsible .After menopause, flax & soy usually keyword. "Usually" , don't increase Estrogen levels. But. to claim they block Estrogen as a blanket statement is ridiculous. Comparing a Different CULTURE to The West...silly.

Just eat more whole / REAL foods, not processed soy junk. Being vegan is tough you really need to know your nutrition and eat a large amount and a varied amount to get MOST of your nutrients, you'll still likely need a b12 supplement.

It's not the soy itself... it's the massive amounts of glyphosate dumped on most soy.

Exactly, I feel like when people refer to evidence, they only refer to the science they want to see. 1) we know for a fact phytoestrogens , specifically isoflavones, given to adolescent male mammals will definitely affect the size and function of their genitals ( smaller) Experiments show this. 2) we definitely know that soily products affects human biochemistry and physiology. Postmenopausal women are encouraged to take it, and IVF patients are told not to eat it. So it definitely has a significant impact. 3) drinking large amount of soy milk has an adverse effect on some males when taken in large quantities. The idea that human males, somehow, are the only exception to the effects of phytoplankton estrogens in soy is ridiculous

What about when estrogen levels naturally go down after menopause? Could eating things that block estrogen actually be negative to the body at a time in life when a woman is not producing as much estrogen?

About time, some real science. It was good how Dr Goldner mentions china.everyone seems to ignore the longest ever human study. Alot ofsoy eaten, and no health risk.

I feel like when people refer to evidence, they only refer to the science they want to see. It isn’t help we are worried about. It’s biochemical impacts. For example, a person can take estrogen or testosterone, and remain healthy. 1) we know for a fact phytoestrogens , specifically isoflavones, given to adolescent male mammals will definitely affect the size and function of their genitals ( make them measurably smaller) Experiments show this. 2) we definitely know that soy products affects human biochemistry and physiology. Postmenopausal women are encouraged to take it, and IVF patients are told not to eat it. So it definitely has a significant impact. 3) drinking large amount of soy milk has an adverse effect on some males when taken in large quantities. The idea that human males (especially infants formula), somehow, are the only exception to the effects of phytoestrogens in soy is ridiculous

I was introduced to your goodbye autoimmune book last year and have been making positive changes to my eating. I am 38 years old and have PCOS. I'm having a hysterectomy and my concern is early menopause and managing the effects as natural as possible. What would you recommend?

I am thinking of introducing tofu everyday. My period is very heavy. I think it is due to an estrogen imbalance. If I eat lots of tofu perhaps I can reduce the amount of estrogen during my cycle and produce better results. I had it happen before the past few months and I noted an increase in soy intake.

@@mariyamshafique9374 Yes. I am still having less painful periods. i am also having more pain free cycles. (the other thing that is important is lowering processed food and fat intake). Tofu is tasty and I have only had positive results.

Doesn't phyto estrogen get interpreted in the body the same way as regular estrogen? There's studies done showing that women going through menopause can lessen their symptoms with SOY supplement, is that because it reduces or increases their estrogen? Which way would make more sense? *looks it up* OK so menopause actually is a reduction of estrogen and progesterone so if soy FURTHER reduces estrogen binding, then it would make Menopause worse, not better? Seems like it DOES work as an Estrogen!

No... Keep in mind that certain powerful industries (the dairy and meat industries) have it in their best interest to spread misinformation about soy and have regularly funded studies to ensure that certain results are reached, to harm the rep of soy and encourage their own products. Please don't let yourself be fooled. Evidence-based science is unanimous on this issue. please see kzbin.info/www/bejne/jIqrmodtrK95oZI
