Hello, Jeep owners. It's Brad here at etrailer. And today, we are taking a look at the WeatherTech HP front floor mats on a 2020 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. Now, part of the allure of owning a Jeep is the fact that you can really take it off-roading and have fun. And I know a lot of Jeep owners having mud on the outside sometimes is bragging rights that you've really taken it off-road and put it to the test of that trail-ratedness. Now, while you may like mud on the outside, no one really likes mud on the inside of the vehicle, especially on the floor mat because that can mean your shoes are gonna get gross, and also you can slip if they are wet.
So why get your inside dirty if you can protect it And also, it's one of those things that if you protect your carpets from day one, you can have those carpets looking pristine when you pull those off as the day they left the factory for the length of the vehicle. Now, your Jeep may just be your daily driver that you drive daily. But even with that, bringing in what you tracked in on your shoes and putting it on the floor mat means that it's gonna stay pretty dirty. And the factory all-weather mats are actually pretty decent. And the fact that they kinda have a lip here, that kinda keeps some of that kinda gunk and buildup from getting on your carpet.
But as we can kind of see along here, some of that just kinda lives there, and that's gonna get ingrained in the carpet. And really, to get that out, you may have to be scrubbing it. Now, another thing too is over time, as your feet kinda rest here, you're gonna kinda wear this out to be thin. And sometimes, even where they snap into place, those can get loose, and then you have a floor mat that kinda gets a little bit wonky, and that can be annoying while driving. So if you want to just protect your carpet or replace your old mat, the WeatherTech's gonna be a really good choice.
So we can see here what the factory one looks like. Just go ahead and pop this out. And we can see here, there's also this hole for pulling it out, and that's done a fine job of letting that dirt kinda sit in the carpet here. So I'm actually gonna vacuum this out, and we'll get our WeatherTechs in here. So I have this all vacuum-cleaned.
I got most of the stuff up here, and I'm gonna put the WeatherTech in. And it is rather tight of a fit when you first put it in. And the reason being is they actually 3D-scanned the floorboards of the vehicle, so you get a perfect fit. Part of that perfect fit is it's gonna be tight maybe the first time, but it's gonna settle in really nice to make sure that it stays in place, and it's gonna contour. 'Cause a lot of things, as far as like floor mats, you can kinda get universal ones that'll do an okay job. But a lot of times, your feet will catch 'em and they kinda fold over. That's not the case here. In fact, the HP is pretty robust-feeling. It's pretty thick, and so it holds form really well. So really, just getting this to flop over is almost impossible as it wants to go back into shape. So you can see here, it fits that floor mat. It follows along the plastic here. You can even tuck this under, and this is a really, really nice fit. And it's also covering a nice little splash guard here to where your feet might actually kinda rest against to still protect the carpet on the side. Now, there's a lot of things that I really like about this WeatherTech. And the HP series in general is really nice in the fact that you have a lot of great features that you don't have with the factory all-weathers, and that's small things but things that make a big difference. So these plugs here, on the other ones, you actually had an open hole, and that's just one more spot where water can actually kinda get under there and get to the carpet. Not these. These are a solid cap here, so you're still gonna get that snapped in, but it's not gonna be leaking in there. In taking a look at some of the design patterns that they have in here, they're well thought out. You can see this little basin here is gonna hold any excess water that might be from, you know, maybe some snowy shoes or if it's raining outside, that's all gonna collect down in this area. And your feet are still gonna be in this little ridged area that has grip but is still gonna channel that water in here. So here, we have that all-weather Jeep floor mat on top of the WeatherTech. And this is gonna give you a nice idea of how much coverage you have. Not only up top, you're gonna see there's about half an inch, but this whole gas pedal area is actually protected here. Whereas before, if your foot kinda
