Our friends did everything we could, but she hid this deadly plan from us until it was too late. I never understood why people can't just be accepting. Someone's identity does not affect you, and people who think it's okay to put others through this emotional and sometimes physical torture because they do not fit the society mold just saddens me. I'm a qualified Rogerian psychotherapist. You'd think that all therapists would have the kind of calm and selfless demeanour that Joie has, but unfortunately that's not so. I was so struck by her warm, empathic, patient and peaceful presence. Counsellors like her make a huge difference in the lives of young people. Amy Louise as someone who has gone through counseling and therapy. Her methodology would not work for me. Partially because my anxiety is caused by feeling out of control. cale lively of course I can't comment on what works for you as you know yourself far better than I ever would, but I do feel a base of warmth and empathy is essential for a successful therapeutic relationship. Perhaps Joie's individual responses would not have worked for you, especially before you had grown a deep trust between you as therapist and client, but she may have sensed that issue if you had been the one in her session rather than Eugene. Therapy is a delicate balance of both counsellor and client building a relationship of trust to find out what approach will best help the client. Hopefully, if they are patient, nonjudgemental and attuned to your needs, they would pick up that you don't find those sorts of responses helpful without you even having to mention it.

I remember when I talked online with the Trevor Project when I was 15. I was extremely depressed and suicidal and felt like my family didn't even care about me, even after blatantly confessing my feelings of depression. My mother had always been against my sexuality, as was her fiance. So one night i got on the website and talked with a counselor. After maybe an hour, we came to the decision to file a neglect report through child services, and a few days later, a representative came to our house. Obviously, I never told my mom that she came because of me, but after a couple meetings and a lot of arguing and fighting, I ended up in a pediatric psychiatry ward at a local hospital. After 10 days, I got out with a prescription for anti-depressants. A few days later, just before my 16th birthday, I made the decision to run away and go to a friend's house. My mom and her fiance told me not to come back. I lived with that friend for a year before things started settling down. I'm so grateful for the Trevor project and I look forward to the day that we don't need it anymore.

But once he started “the call”, a whole different side of Eugene came out and I love how the Try Guys have balanced entertainment and serious platforms they want to back. It's kind of odd/interesting/sad? that English, having the stark contrast between he and she is such a big language in the world today. Among the languages of the world that is actually pretty rare feature to have. I have nothing against English despite not being a native speaker myself, but in situations like this I guess it could be more convenient to have a language with gender neutral pronouns.
@Jenna_Talia4 жыл бұрын
@@adpwd2156 I want to learn another language, but it's difficult speaking given anytime someone hears my accent they switch immeditately to English. I think the issue is that English being such a binary language has created an international idea that absolutely no language could make it on it's own with gender neutral pronouns. English has such influence that people think that binary gender is the standard and not the other way around.
@adpwd21564 жыл бұрын
@@Jenna_Talia Yes exactly! Having the distinction between genders in pronouns is common in Indo-European languages, many of which are big languages, but these actually are just a tiny dot among all the languages in the world. There are thousands of (admittedly smaller, usually) languages that don't make that distinction. Also, what you're describing about learning other languages is a thing, certainly and I'm often guilty of switching to English too, just because it's easier. I usually don't talk about this in public but maybe somebody who watch this video needs to hear it. I was going to try guys soon for years. And Eugene always touches my heart. I am a Christian and have been since I was young. When all of this LGBTQ and transgender stuff started getting more talked about I was very confused. I left a church because the discrimination didn't feel comfortable in my spirit. Then I found out that my niece wanted to transition at the age of 16. I knew she always felt different, she as in past tense. Never felt comfortable in the body she was in. So she started taking the hormones and changed her name and became my nephew. I remember praying very hard on how to tell my ten-year-old daughter what was going on and still be the Christian I feel God wants me to be. I prayed for days that I wouldn't mess it up. I love my sister and my nephew. The answer was so simple... LOVE! That's what Jesus is to me, love. I don't judge my nephew. We get along very well because we are actually are a lot alike. I am a child of the 80s and now he is 17 and has seen more 80s movies and I have and has a vinyl record player. Which is a passion we both share. We love to hang out together. And guess what, my ten-year-old daughter said okay if that's what he wants. Children are so innocent. We are the ones that affect their attitudes and their image of things that we don't understand. That's where you get racism and discrimination from. From the misunderstanding in the inability to truly share God's love. This Christian loves these Try Guys! I love my transgender nephew! And I love Jesus! Those things do not conflict with each other.

Devilishly Yours. That’s the misconception that a lot of Indians celebrated. They decriminalized ‘unnatural’ sex in India, two months ago. There is no conversation of socially accepting or stopping discrimination against the LGBT community. It literally enrages me that we still have derogatory jokes about gay people in mainstream media. I wish something like this had been around when I was a teenager. Growing up asexual and non-binary was confusing and hard, I always felt like I was broken in some way and I didn't have the words or the terminology to explain who I was. Even now I feel like I have to constantly justify how I am the way I am and I lost a huge amount of friends when I needed them in my struggle. It may have gotten better for me in adulthood but that isn't always the case, and to see organizations like this is so amazing and encouraging. I can only hope that we get more youth outreach programs for LGBTQ youth and continue to educate people so that hopefully the rate of crisis calls lowers as people feel accepted and validated.

For everyone asking, demisexual is on the asexual spectrum, I'm not quite sure how to explain it but it often is described with it being "secondary sexual attraction." This is how it's possible to be both demi and bi. I myself am ace btw.
@paigeharris38215 жыл бұрын
@@amberdaze7892 explained it pretty well. The gay-straight spectrum (or Kinsey scale, if you want to use that) is a spectrum of who you are attracted to, and the asexual (or ace) spectrum is a spectrum of HOW that attraction is experienced. So you can be into boys, but only experience romantic love and not any sexual desire, or feel that sexual activity isn't needed for a fulfilling relationship or won't increase your love for someone. You could be bisexual and feel attracted to both men and womxn, but that attraction develops as a result of knowing them deeply as people, not aesthetic interest or chemistry. You can be "turned off" by the idea of having sex with someone you've had coffee with once, even though you really clicked and have a lot in common, and have sexual interest in someone that you've known for a long time but never romantically dated. You can also be aromantic- which is a different experience from asexuality, but a lot of times we see the two treated as the same thing

Jim Von Schmittou so you are saying these kids should deny who they are? Or abandon the community that accepts them as they are? Please explain further.

Many people in the community are trapped and many people who Have gotten out of the community are often under threat thes kids believe its better to take their lives than to under than to be under threat

I almost committed suicide about 7 months ago now. It was a wild ride. I was depressed, I felt unwanted, lonely, confused. I was confused about where my life was going, I was confused about who I am. I felt, broken. I didnt know who I was or who I could be. I never wanted sex or anything along those lines. And I felt broken and not human. About 2 months ago I discovered that there was a thing called Asexual. And one day I just said out loud that. "I'm Asexual." I just giggled from joy of finally know who I was. And I'm slowly starting to get a hold on my life and where I'm going in it. I haven't had a suicidal thought in about 6 months now. It's great. And thank you to Charlene who helped me when I reached out to a Crisis Text Line. You're amazing 💕 And to everyone out there who is struggling, you are so loved. Reach out, we are all here for you

Not everyone must consume the rainbow, and we are all okay with that! Finding out where you fit on the spectrum is cool and helps many! I'm glad you, as a random stranger, are alive so people can talk to you :)

I live in Britain, England. I came out as bisexual in my school to my “best friend”. She told my entire year which included 190 other students; her and this other girl in my class came up to me and started to pick on me. I just didn’t understand, I closed my self off from everybody believing that that’s how everyone must feel about my sexuality. One day this boy waved and started to get the same train as me, we decided to do the journey together. When I was comfortable, he started introducing me to all his friends and then they introduced me to all theirs. I found out that people do support you, you’ve just got to find them. After my best friend hurt me, it sent me spiralling. To be honest, I never had really dealt with depression or anxiety before the incident. But when it happened… well there’s going to be *permanent* damage on my arm. Please don’t close yourself off just because of one incident, companies like this can help you get through your hard times. Thanks for reading x

Agree. He may seem a little harsh on the outside but on the inside he is a really caring mature but also very sensitive man. You go Eugene ❤

One of your best videos yet!!!!! I came out in my 50's and wish there had been a place like the Trevor project for me when I was young. Maybe I wouldn't have waited so long.
