We have been able to laugh at -or with our own foibles, from My Name's McGooley to Kath and Kim. And it was never, ever nasty or bitter. And watch Ten Canoes and see that aboriginal Australians have a really great sense of humour. It infuriates me that this has vanished and I don't have anything to laugh WiTH any more.

An excellent discussion, Andrew Doyle is always an impressive speaker. I hope his and Graham's new comedy projects in the USA go well. I can see more and more creatives moving over to the USA, where the right to free speech is enshrined in the constitution. Dr Peterson was in great form in this discussion, his analysis is spot on. He was also looking particularly smart in the grey pinstripe suit. The Trump victory in the US Presidential election should spell the beginning of the end of woke over there, but it will take time for the ripple effect to reach us in the UK, especially with a newly-elected leftist government here who are authoritarian and pro-woke. We're in for a rough few years. People have been sent to prison for a single statement made on social media, so we're on the slippery slope towards Stalinism over here. There is no such thing as "hate" crime. Something is either a crime or it is not a crime. I loathe this Orwellian language.
@pamelaroyce528528 күн бұрын
I surprised my very conservative law school professor in 1993-1995 when I said I didn’t agree with “hate crime.” I was, at the time, pegged as a liberal and still consider myself a traditional liberal. But the nature of the crime is not made worse because the victim has some particular characteristic. Pain and suffering are the same and that is all that we should look at. We criminalize behaviors, but not thought (not yet, anyway). You are right. The concept is Orwellian. Time to stamp it out.

@oliveoil764229 күн бұрын
WTF happened? The tolerant providing the intolerant equal footing??
@elpidalastname983429 күн бұрын
@oliveoil7642 it all started in WW1, when Britain saw just how much society was willing to let them get away with. The Defense of The Realm Act (DORA), was created during WW1 as a justification to suppress and invade the lives of private citizens. Things such as banning alcohol, illegalizing the use of a camera, feeding birds, or even whistling for a taxi was illegal Britain unless it was to signal an air raid. They would even jail people who used "disloyal language". They even went as far as to create a social movement to shame men who refuse to join the army. Children as young as 16 were shamed by their female friends & girlfriends, despite not even being legally capable of joining due to their age. The British government also quickly adopted the idea of manipulation & propaganda through news. Despite popular belief, average people were actually very good and moral. As always, it's the politicians and greedy businesses that cause problems. So for example, when Germany invaded Belgium, they stole Belgium's church bells and melted them down to help with the shortage of steel. By the time it hit Britain's media, the Germans apparently tortured women & children in Belgium and hung their bodies upside down in the church bells to use them as human clappers. This tactic of media manipulation was used under DORA as a way to motivate their citizens to fight to save Belgium women & children, but also out of fear for their own family's lives. Britain quite literally lied to lure in men as young as 16 to join the army. But don't misinterprete what I am saying, I am not defending Germany in any way. They were just as bad as Britain. On the bright side however, this goes to show just how heroic and good people can be. But unfortunately politicians can use that to trick us into believing we are doing the right thing. The reason I mention all this is because it's moments like this when we all slowly started to lose our freedoms around the world. And they try to use fear to justify it.

Oh my goodness! I am so glad you had Father Ted’s creator on the podcast, dearest Dr. Peterson, what a treat. My editor at Wrong Speak, Adam Coleman, had him on “Breaking Bread” some months back. At the moment I’m coping with severe winter storms and power outages here in gorgeous Maine but will be back to enjoy this conversation and share thoughts soon. With Ruth Anne’s love

Father Ted was so popular … I remember Father Jack's 'feck' became the swear word of choice for my entire school. There's always time for a nice cup of tea ... Go on, go on, go on, go on, go on.

Wonderful interview , my daughter , who left Ireland to live in Vancouver refuses to speak to me now because I don't agree with the woke mind virus . It is heartbreaking for me, I'm sure I am not the only parent in this position.

Try to un brainwash yourself. Start by getting off KZbin. Your daughter sounds smart so well done raising her. Surely your relationship with her is more important than this overblown culture war nonsense.

I live in the Netherlands, the country which was ruined by Mark Rutte. I wholeheartedly agree, Europe is heading towards a world of pain. We had cheap gas, now we pay 6 times as much for much lower quality gas from the USA and we pay for another country which is in-between R and Europe. Germany got completely de-industrialized because of the lack of gas and expensive electrictity, the Netherlands strongly depends on the Germany industry and wellfare which is disappearing fast. The governments here now waste money on military toys instead of things like education, once again the budget for education got cut, while the population is growing. Europe is heading towards a world of pain!

And too many blame it on the U.S., and no I’m not American.
@peterjansen482629 күн бұрын
@@oliveoil7642 I see the USA and UK cause a lot of suffering all over the world, Europe is far from innocent too, they participate. It is clear that the USA is the current empire of the world (USD being the world trade currency) and the UK was the previous empire of the world. Europe has been a lapdog of the USA which does whatever the USA tells it to do, that doesn't make them any less responsible. We had a fiduciary money system without a hard currency since the 1970's, that has a limited lifespan. It is quite impressive that so far they could prevent a hard crash but it will happen eventually, according to many economists somewhere in the 20's or at latest 30's. In my modest opinion much of what is currently going on (war against Russia) can be explained by many countries understanding that this will happen soon, countries want to have a strong negotiation-postiion when that happens and they want to weaken competing countries from another block in the world. Depending on how you interpret Rutte his words he might have alluded to this with "preserving our way of life".

They never your friend from the beginning Graham. I can assure you, I would have stood by you! So please don't think that it's down to you. I don't have friends myself, because in the past, I was bullied, then then stabbed in the back! I never had any doubts to your goodness and the truth, but there are not many people like you and I, hence the madness going on in the world at the moment? When I was younger I used to wander what was wrong with me, and why I don't have friends? Someone came into my life and explained to me it was jealousy! I then understood, but didn't make life anymore pleasant, because I have strugwith loneliness that is the most "Distractive " to your heart and soul! Loneliness "Kills!" 🙌 Blessings to you Graham Jordan and Andrew ❤❤❤❤❤ People will realise what they have lost Graham, but find True Friends, that are friends with you and not your "Status!" Love to you❤❤❤❤

Graham is very modest. Sitcoms like Father Ted and The IT Crowd were huge here in the UK. The Gen Z people in my life love them as well. The comedy their generation has been fed is basically a lecture, and people want a laugh.
