Yup, that's right. EuroTrash engine-swapped Audi A4 is back. Anyone surprised?
This time it's a crank no-start.
Let's see if we can efficiently pinpoint the problem and get lucky with another NPR fix.

Ivan, you can make a good living for the rest of your life doing this! Most mechanics HATE troubleshooting wiring, especially wiring cobbled together by amateurs. As a professional amateur myself, I have made ALL these mistakes! Fortunately, I learned my lesson from audio equipment, not engine sensors!

The problem is that people won't pay if the diag goes beyond the 2 hour diag which a lot of complex cars need. This was fairly an easy diag because you can replicate the failure but trying to diag something that is not failing but rather doing it intermittently is the worst since it is just time consuming to find the fault.

Looks like a younger guys car, he probably just wants to fix it himself for his own learning experience or satisfaction. granted buying something you can't diagnose easily yourself isn't usually a good way of going about that. Ha ha what a mess, reminds me of a time I helped an electrician on a job site about ten o’clock at night after a long day at work. I’m a carpenter but have been messing with cars and trucks for years. His chevy truck wouldn’t start it was a 1978 I believe, anyway it was wiring problems from an overheating a couple days before he had rad etc changed. I found about three or four melted grounding out wires. We patched them in with wire and wire nuts he had and it ran. Saw him three years later, it was still running no problems( he never replaced wires properly) great old trucks

I've been debating on getting one of those soldering irons. My neighbor, when I lived in silicon valley had some kind of Audi. I swear, every month he had some kind of breakdown. Meanwhile, my 1968 Camaro was just chugging along with my Honda CB750F Supersport. My wife's Chevy Celebrity from 1986 had the 2.8L MPFI V6. That was a very reliable car and engine. It had a peculiar starting habbit. It would start, cold, and the RPMs just went up and down and up and down until it finally stabilized out after a minute or two. Sometimes the first few dives it would stall. Warm and otherwise it ran perfect. It always bugged me, even the the factory service manual 2 inches thick I could never figure that one out.
