Michelle could not have presented Eurovision 2022 because she works for Mediaset and it is not certain that Mediaset would have given permission. And in any case Rai certainly preferred to use its resources.Especially the new acquisition Cattelan.However, Switzerland made a great choice with Michelle.

Michelle Hunziker is very well-known not only in Italy but also internationally. She was born and raised in Switzerland and started her career there before achieving success abroad. In Switzerland, she worked as a TV presenter, hosting shows such as Cinderella. In Germany she became a household name by co-hosting major TV shows like Deutschland sucht den Superstar (the German version of American Idol) and Wetten, dass..?, one of the most popular entertainment programs in the country.

J'espère qu'on pourra avoir un peu plus de français, d'allemand et d'italien, et pas uniquement de l'anglais pour la présentation du concours. Depuis les années 2010, le concours est devenu unilingue anglais et ça manque de diversité.

Le français devrait être quasiment à égalité, étant donné qu'il est une des deux langues officielles de l'UER. Par contre, l'allemand et l'italien ne sont langues officielles qu'en Suisse. Et vu la confusion qui a régné lors de cette longue et fastidieuse séquence où les intervenants mélangeaient toutes les langues au sein même d'une seule phrase, franchement, je crains que nous ayons tout à y perdre lors des Live Shows si 3 ou 4 langues se télescopent en permanence.

It is sad that all disabled OGAE fans are excluded from seeing any of the shows live in the arena in 2025 in Basel! 😱 What is the reason why the organizer has for the first time in the 2000s excluded fans who are disabled, old and unable to stand from ESC in Basel. The fans who have so faithfully traveled around ESC for 15 or more years in May every year.😭

@DanTony68 You are wrong. OGAE International has received a total of 500 ticket packages for each show type, which have been distributed between all clubs. But 0 "ZERO" seating ticket packages for persons who not are able to stand several hours 3 times this weekend. Tickets are not free to see live shows aprox 900 CHF.

The contest was miltilingual untill the early 2000s. Before, it was very common to listen to French, German... Watch the contest hosted in Luxembourg in 1984. The host, Désirée Nosbuch, mixed all the languages. :)

If you are watching an event from the stadium next door, you aren’t really there. It sounds like a glorified tailgating party (almost certainly at an inflated price)

The stadium viewing is promoted as a public viewing event, not as the event itself, so there's no reason to complain. As it's moderated and as it will also feature life acts as well, a higher price than a normal public viewing is justified. There will be other public viewing events all over the city of Basel for the less affluent fans.

The hosts seem so inexperienced in speaking English that they switched to German during the Eurovision press conference. That’s quite surprising and, honestly, a bit disrespectful. When the Netherlands hosted, we also stuck to English and didn’t revert to Dutch.

I am sure that they will not have any problems hosting the show in English. This press conference was mainly targeted at the Swiss media and I guess the Swiss are more conservative than the Dutch about their languages. (Austrian here who knows the outrage of people with little English skills when people speak English in their country...)
