Apparently Evan had a therapist on set. He always puts himself into his characters. On Mare he broke down because he didn't think he did well in his best scene and he won an Emmy. He walked away from AHS after his best season because it was mentally wearing. He doesn't play about his craft and I admire that about him, but boy do I worry about his mental health. Bravo for not glamorizing Dahmer. It was a slippery slope but EP, RM and everyone involved here really nailed it.

I've been rooting for him to win for years and I personally think he should've gotten one for James Patrick March on Hotel (rather than Gaga), or Kai Anderson in the Cult season. As much as I think his performance here was award worthy (possibly his best work in a career of already amazing performances), I think it would rub most people the wrong way, notably the victims who had to relive their trauma with no consent nor knowledge about the series until the announcements Also it might reinforce the whole glorifying real life monsters issue, so he's most likely getting snubbed again, unfortunately.

It’s one if the best dramatized series about a true crime case I’ve ever seen. The acting is truly amazing and it gives so many details of the case that most people are unaware of if they haven’t gotten deeper into it before. It shows a fuller picture of the victims, their families and how everyone was affected. The social ramifications of homophobia and racism are made clear as well which is very important to understanding the whole case as well.
@loki-of-asgard7877
@loki-of-asgard7877 2 жыл бұрын
Only they didn't do an accurate portrayal of the story. The real story had nothing to do with racism or homophobia. Yes dahmer targeted black gay men, but he was also physically attracted to them because he was gay too. Also tracy edwards specifically isn't even gay. Even said so on live camera during his court testimony. You can search it up. He was a desperate drug addict that agreed to pose nude for a $100 before ever reaching the apartment. He also called the police. He didnt get stopped or return to the scene of the crime. I can go on & on, but it's more fiction than anything.

I mean, I guess its more for the audience pull but some of the rudest ppl ever r just simply ppl who hate themselves. & there's not even a damn thing redeeming about them. Not even superficial sh. @@gacj2010 method acting is essentially “working from home” in the acting world. It’s when you decide to literally become that character 24/7 until the movie has concluded. Which means even when you’re done for the day and have time to relax and unwind, you continue to dress, speak and behave as if you’re still on camera and in character. Needless to say, it can be mentally exhausting. Movies can take years to finish and to someone trying to commit fully to a role like that, you can see how someone might lose sense of who they are. Imagine the most evil character in your favorite movie. Thinking to yourself “wow this actor crushed it”. Now try to picture that actor going home to his wife and kids exactly the way you saw him on screen. Would you want to live with someone like that for 1-2 years? @@wabmwijesinghe8440 Absolutely, it does carry more weight, because it is real, not fiction. Just thinking about how some actors got weird and a little too into their method acting, with a fictional character (Health Ledger as Joker for example). They put out legendary performances mind you, every time, but it can disturb them mentally.

@@MrBilld75 According to his co-stars in the Dark Knight, Heath Ledger would go back to his normal self after a day of shooting or he would consult with them about the way he acted things out. He wasn't a true method actor; he admitted that. He did have trouble sleeping and he had a severe cold around the time of his death. He mixed up his prescription drugs and it proved fatal. I don't think it was caused by being the Joker. True method actors are Daniel Day-Lewis and Joaquin Phoenix. I think Evan Peters is kind of following in the footsteps of Heath Ledger's style of acting though.

@@kguerr197 Oh, o.k., very interesting. I did not know some of those things. I was always getting the one sided "The Joker role made Heath Ledger crazy and may have contributed to his death" stories. And all they ever said was "drug overdose" never what it was, but implied it was narcotics. And I thought maybe he took the role too seriously. This sounds much more reasonable and much like the nonsense around Bruce Lee's death and conspiracy theories. Yet, the real truth, was it too, was also due to a bad reaction from medication. His own wife debunked the rumours and friends, there was no nefarious plot to kill Bruce.

I hope not? I? As a young woman... Was never the same hearing it. As well growing up in the area where Clifford Olsen was killing kids all around me, my brother and friends. We were made to travel from groups of two? To groups of three. Many of Cliffords victims... just blocks, miles away from our homes. We never understood the gravity of what we were actually up against. But? The hindsight is emotionally exhausting. Like? You just missed being that child? Overwhelmed me as a young woman. Then? Came Bundy and Dahmer. As women? My circle? We were terrified. Blown away and in constant watch. It literally changed how I moved, where I went and with whom. It changed how I trusted society as a whole and there? Began my distrust and frustration with various police departments. As women. White? We too were not taken seriously when we would reveal perverts. Laughed at and dismissed when told we had been chased, stalked, approached, flashed, grabbed but got away... EVERY time. Never once. Out of our dozens of complaints were we ever taken seriously. I'm so glad we are in a more advanced emotional time. But? Authoritative action? Is still absolutely disgusting. So much more needs to be changed. It changed us all. Especially the ones that lived right through it all. I hope that this actor? Who played Dahmer? Would never be the same. Or I'd be worried that he was the same as his role. You can't even listen to this shit? And remain the same. It changes you. Absolutely does. For me? For us? We fkn got a hell of alot smarter about how we lived. I spent my whole youth from Clifford Olsen on... Looking over my shoulder. And when I realized what I truly was looking over my shoulder about? That reality took me years... To overcome in a healthy way. So YES! It has to have changed this young man. He did an amazing job too. The producers. Respectful to not glorify this seriously mentally ill man. They told it well. Unfortunately. A revictimization then occurs for all those that lived it. To those, I say.... It needs to be told and we need to watch what not to do, officers men/women... Need to learn. Society needs to see the pain this Mann caused beyond what was okay. Because had many of these humans, like I? Amd. My friends back in the day? Been taken fkn seriously? Would have seen his victim list cut literally in fkn HALF! I don't blame the black community nor the minority community for absolutely losing their fkn shit. I'm surprised it wasn't worse? And I don't blame them one damn bit! I feel like the dahmer series does everything it's attempting to do almost perfectly, and I love that they sympathize with the victim's families and never give dahmer any glorification. However my only quarrel with the series is that they financially proffited off of it, and I haven't seen anything about the victims getting any compensation, or even a headsup that they were gonna make this series.
