Tyson's and Foreman's strenghts were from different kinds. Tyson's power came from his speed and precision, as you said. Speed X force = impact. Foreman's power came from his base and weight. He was slower, but there were weight behind his punches. Tyson needed and opening, while Foreman created openings hurting badly wherever he strikes. It's like comparing an european high revving engine with an american muscle, both have power, but with different characteristics.

It was a grade A boxing Classic the older I get the more I really admire these men, especially foreman if you really sit bac and look at foreman and his boxing careers, I said Careers because he had 2 and his 2nd in my opinion was his best. He literally reshaped EVERYTHING while still keeping and never losing his power. He honestly gained more due to the extra weight he carried, and people say foreman was sluggish and slow but when u truly watch him he really wasn't at all. Especially for his age and size, even in his early days he was the hardest hitting heavyweight that was walking, and what makes Foreman's second career even more of a legendary fairytale type story, is that he achieved and in strategic fashion defeated Micheal Moorer the in same but different way Ali had done to him over 20 something years earlier. He was outsmarted by being Ali's dope in the ol rope a dope strategy, and foreman learned from this loss that changed his life and he turned around and stayed patient and threw a few left hooks missing on purpose to make Michael Moorer move and circle towards George's right side and to where he could be in reach of the good ol simple but devastating one two that foreman mastered to a Tee for that fight he worked on a straight percise cross and figured out how to put his power into the 2 which was his right cross and landed it on Michael Moorer's chin and foreman knew and predicted that if he could keep Moorer thinking that he could stand there and bang with foreman which EVERYONE that fought foreman knew that wasn't how you fought big George at all even if u beat him they all said he was the hardest they'd ever been hit by. But he managed to stay patient as Ali did with him and when the opportunity came foreman let the cannon go. Smart experience move and it got him the championship at age 45 everything he'd Experience boiled down to that moment even his loss with Ali, why? Because foreman was a natural offensive fighter in the beginning, the monster, and after losses from fighters that had a boxing in and out style such as the homie Ali and Jimmy young he got pissed and reshaped and found himself came bacc and had a whole second career basically I didn't even know he fought damn near over 25 fights maybe more in his come back from 38 years old and up, so he learned and understood himself very very purely and in order to do so u have to leave out of the stubborn stage and accept that your not always going to win them all and you have flaws and he understood his own weaknesses so he found what worked for him, the cross guard and how he could use it to suit him, meaning his knew he wasn't a bounce on your toes type of boxing wizard like Ali and others may have been even though he's showed that he could somewhat compete like that as well but to be the best him he had to adapt and find a way he could find the younger and faster fighters even stronger some may have been compared to the older foreman. But he never was the weakest he was always among the strongest of fighters period and will always be.

So true about Evander, he was never out of shape, even when he had long times in between fights. This was probably one of the keys to his success. He was always ready, so when he started training for a fight, he didn't have to focus so much on getting in fight shape, he would obviously have more time to focus on the game and how he would approach the particular fighter he was preparing for. Sports and especially fight sports can teach some good life lessons. With this I think always be ready for whatever it is you do and whatever craziness life throws at all of us.

Yeah he beat Tyson but let's agree or disagree to agree .Tyson best days meaning Cus D' Amato before Tyson went to jail was a ways behind him. So cool to see all the love for Holyfield in the comments. I really liked him in the 80's but felt he was underappreciated by the crowd. There's nothing like the test of time!
@mistyrains9392 жыл бұрын
The 90's really helped him convince people he wasn't just good but an all time great, fighting Tyson, Bowe, Foreman, Holmes, Lewis and etc and beating most of them at least once if not multiple times after that it was kind of hard to deny his greatness, top 5 heavyweight of all time imo, he deserved respect simply for the fact he could've stayed at cruiserweight and dominated with no real competition and instead chose to move up and fight the greats (most of them in their primes, and Holmes and Foreman were still very game even in their 40's evidenced by the fact Foreman was champ when he fought him lol) and he didn't just fight them he beat them and once again became champ in that division

George was amazingly skilled! He wpuld throw wide shots, and when the enemy was accustomed to the wider shots, he would catch them with a short shot! Nobody could really avoid him forever (apart from that one night Ali did it)... The older Foreman used a crossguard and fought with more patience! The younger foreman controlled more off of frames... Older Foreman could still use these frames when needed. Just a brilliant boxer! Power unmatched

Ali's performance against Foreman was perhaps the greatest feat in boxing history. He didn't dodge all of Big George's punches, but he covered up well enough to tough it out. I rem being 5 years old and watching his fight with Bowe and thinking he looked really intimidating, not only because of his build but his look- showed no fear- and that sticks. I have been watching boxing for 21 years, boxed and consider myself a pretty accurate analyst. Mike Tyson fell before the Douglas fight, and, if you pay attention he went into that fight with too much water weight (sign of poor training, or, bad training methods)--including the lack of discipline and mental fortitude he was known for, due to personal issues. Mike was the boxer that could have been, and, then some---if a Prime Tyson or a consistent Tyson would have went into that ring with Holyfield that night, a top 5 best Heavyweight fight of all time would have taken place along with Lewis (who Tyson stood a better chance of beating with in 6-8 rounds, if management would have let them fought sooner but they were developing their careers). Holyfield is tough as hell, and, he would have met Tyson's aggression in bursts. A real fight would have taken place in that ring.

Plus, he had all the skills and the HEART of a CHAMPION. He and Tyson could have fought every 6 months for years and Evander wild have won all of them. He was not afraid of Mike. We LOVE Mike, but he never won a fight that he actually had to DIG DEEP to win. Teddy Atlas loves to freaking talk but he really said it best on the Joe Rogan podcast and I agree 100%. 110% in sports terms.

Seems like Evander was in a really good mood. It was cool listening to him be free with his comments.
