The video implies that Amy is dead -- her feet never touch the ground, she has symbolic winding cloths on her hands, and the fly lands on her fingers. And the man is clearly bereft and wandering as if he's looking for something he knows he won't find -- looking up as if to find her there.

I always kind of read it as a follow up to their first hit, where she fell from the ledge. Notice the building he looks up at seems to be similar architecture. The song was based on a short story that Ben Moody (blonde haired guy at the piano in the vid) wrote about losing his grandfather. In the video, Amy is the spirit of the person that has gone, singing Ben's words as he mourns her loss. You can see that her feet never touch the ground, and no one seems to see her in the video, and she is wearing wraps around her hands and feet, traditionally used in burial rituals indicating she is dead and it's her spirit we see. It's one of the most emotional songs for me. I cry almost every time I hear it, and I'm a man in his 50s. Her voice is so clean and pure. One of my favourite female vocal artists of all time.
