This is like watching Grand Designs after fitting a flat packed kitchen - its good for humility! Fortunately, the work of a craftsman can be admired by someone with basic skills, even if they can't replicate it. This layout is stretching the boundaries of what can be achieved and is a pleasure to watch.

Hi. Richard great as always mate can I ask what decoders you are using for the branch line?

I think what is most impressive is your ability to evolve the scene in line with your vision and skillset. You aren't afraid to reconfigure and repurpose previous work that cost you a lot of manhours as you know it will serve the layout better in the long run. A very commendable and inspiring attitude towards any project!

Nice to see another update. Some great changes done to that branch line, made a huge difference! Tankers are a pain to paint and to get that look spot on.. I've got it covered in a recent silver bullet video, features how to create that heavy brown dirt effect that those and many other pieces of rolling had coated on them. Could be a good pointer when you come to do the ferry vans.

All I can say is “Stunning” I am a very new joiner to this world after many years of static modelling, 12th and 24th scale car building and war hammer figures! I haven’t read all of the comments on all of the Everard videos, but one thing that also adds to the videos, for me anyway, is the totally modest, while remaining so professional voice of Everard! You could do voiceovers for books! I could listen all day! As for the layouts, engine work, scenery, it is all just fantasmagorical sir! Hats off to the Hornby series!….. Let’s have an Everard Junction TV series too….. Please!….👏👏👏👏

Great to see a new update from you, Richard. Really like what you have sone with the branch line - looks a lot more realistic now. The addition of a juice rail (with section gaps, track isolation switches, traction return cables, (maybe even a substation…?) will be the icing and the candles on the cake! I worked on the railway (S&T Engineering) between 1977 and 2018 and have to say that yours and Mr Watsons (Dean Park) layouts are the pinnacle for “modern image” as regards getting the detail in place and then getting it right. Really enjoy watching the model progress. The new locos are a treat to the eyes, particularly the 47 and the 60. Pleased that you haven’t gone overboard with the weathering and have kept it subtle. But the dmu’s and that lovely 2-EPB are also worthy of comment. They really do look the part. As does the container train and stone wagons. I used to have a model railway many years ago (N gauge, 1969 - 1974 Western Region) but that is all packed away in the loft and is unlikely to see light of day until it gets sold off - other interests and life have got in its way, as they do. But, if I did have a layout, I would be happy if it was to the same standard as yours. Keep up the good work and I look forward to your next update! Best wishes from the Wirral.

@DJ_K6663 жыл бұрын
The Black triangle was to denote which end had the luggage compartment. It meant No brake van at other end of train and was intended to avoid delays caused by having to move mail bags along the platform.

Very many Hornby class 31 models suffered from chassis corrosion problems, the Mazak metal would expand in humid conditions & basically destroy the plastic body ! This is why there are many broken bodies available. Hornby did offer replacements, repairs & even bought a lot of the affected models back that were either very old & or unrepairable.

24:20 Make sure to go rather light on the weathering for Eastleigh, as, given the special livery, I would imagine she was a bit of a Depot pet, and would thus probably be getting extra care and attention compared to a normal loco.

Mmmpph, you'll need a 3rd rail on the branch if you're going to use that 2EPB regularly ! (Peco code 60 bullhead rail, which I solder to brass nails as I found the Peco plastic "china" pots broke every time you clean the track !) One other problem with Southern 2 digit headcode stock, post 1964, is that you need two red blanks on the rear of the train, as the Southern didn't require tail lamps on Post 1951 design EMU's, from this date, which includes your blue EPB ! This does present a bit of a problem, if you are just shuttling and EMU back & forth !!! Two white blanks at the front of a train was normally only used for a short movement such as the platform to a carriage siding, otherwise a Numeric headcode was required. Indeed Bachmann didn't think about that... Your new layout is coming along nicely, happy modelling.

Hia Richard love your work again, like everyone else. In regards to the earlier body style of the 31 with the disc indicators if you check flickr 31138/141 & 144 were all still kicking around late 80s in various states of decrepitude both with and without the orange cant lines so one in blue would fit ok, and your choice of 60062, a Cardiff loco, fits right in with the Thames valley vibe
@johneyres30453 жыл бұрын
Another excellent update. I see what you mean regarding the branch line. Looking at previous updates it did look a bit tight. The new version is much more convincing going underneath at a more realistic angle. Even though you mainly run DMU’s on the branch i can just imagine the odd freight emerging from down there such as a oil or stone like a typical ‘off the beaten track’ type freight working.
@jonelson19833 жыл бұрын
Vastly improved branch line. With the loco you're going to bin why not bodge it up into a non-runner and stick it in a siding somewhere, abandoned with weeds growing around the wheels - you see lots of sidings overgrown on edges of lines containing various rotting wagons and stock all over the country.
