Gas Hog is becoming one of my favorite 2600 games, it's so fun and addictive. I recently ordered a copy of Cross Force as well. Spectravision may actually be a bit underrated

Yeah, it's a fantastic game, so underrated. Did you know it was programmed by Doug Neubauer who created Star Raiders, Solaris and the POKEY sound chip? Cross Force is also one of the 2600's most underrated games too, you'll love it!

When you think about the primitive arcade games from your 1978 video that were using cutting-edge technology, it's incredible what can be achieved on this consumer-level 1977 machine. You did of course have to be a certified genius with patience levels off the charts to write even a bad a 2600 game....

And have a big computer and Atari emulator at the office. Some of these games look like kids made them for their computer, especially the screech as the musical notes rise. Why couldn't any shop have a sound and music person to help out? They all had to be solo projects, I think. Maybe a team worked on Moon Patrol?

Bumper Bash actually has some pretty decent physics for an Atari 2600 game. Better than some pinball games I've seen even on the PC back in the day.

I recall Chase the Chuckwagon being a super expensive holy grail of sorts back in my 90s retro collecting days. Now, unlike other systems, the prices have dropped considerably for rare Atari games.

I like the joke: Kids had to eat a lot of dog food for the proof-of-purchases needed to get that game for free! And, How many dogs are afraid at a bone thrown at them? You'd think with the title, he'd figure out a way for a dog to actually chase the chuckwagon! If I had 3 days to make a game for the 2600, I'd call in sick for 3 days so I could have double the time to work on it!

Wow! I thought there were only two Atari 2600 pinball games. Video Pinball and Midnight Magic are the only two I see when I search online.

Probably the only game they made that I would have been interested in.

The box art was pretty much spot on with what to expect from gameplay unlike that other company. :)

I don't actually think I've played any of these games! But 13 year old me would have loved X-Man . . . .

You should, both games are excellent, probably my 2 favourite SpectraVision games actually!

I have to say, I'm not familair with any of these games, I remember them for their brilliant joysticks. Some new stuff to try out on the Retro Pi now anyway!

SpectraVision/SpectraVideo had a number of unique game cartridges for the Atari 2600 VCS and they had announced that they were also trying to create their own computer keyboard in order to turn the Atari 2600 into an actual Video Computer System.

I think the only one I every owned and played was Nexar.

Funny enough Nexar was the only one I owned back in the day, I have nearly all of them now though.

With games of this quality coming out it's no wonder the video game industry crashed.

X-man? He'll be an ex man when those scissors get to him. All those so rubbish. And we paid about £30 back then for that trash! Amazing that people moan about game prices today.

Some may have come out at $20 or $10, or perhaps went to the bargain bin after Christmas when they couldn't return them to the company, because it was kaput. Oh look, 8:22 advertised for only £9.95!
