I feel alot of people are unaware of theese crossmember bushings but they take alot of stress as they hold up the weight of the front end w the torsion bar resistance.

I totally understand and agree with the upgraded tie rods. I’m sure many people would love to see some of the idler arm and pitman arm upgrades, braces, and supports. I feel like the idler arm and pitman arms are so problematic. Most guys can get away with tie rod sleeves. I think Most of the flopping around in the front end of GM 2500-3500 platforms 4x4 comes from deflection of the idler arm and pitman arm.

Solid axle Conversion is the only way! Bullet proof if! Chevys biggest mistake was dumping the solid axle front ends in 1987 for the weak little tooth pick IFS, diesel or not the Chevy ifs front ends can’t handle any type of lift kit or larger tire. They just aren’t made for it. I had a ‘98 half ton Chevy that I did a 1 ton solid axle swap to, I started with a 3/4 ton ford high pinion dana 44 front axle, and 14 bolt rear, theee a dime a dozen, I transitioned to a Chevy side king pin dana 60, swaped t cases, adapted a np205 with 203 doubler using an advance adapters kit. When I was done it had about 14”-16” of Lift and rolled on 42” stampers. Hehe it was big. I did leaf springs in the front, i didn’t have the money to do a 4 link and go all crazy. If I was going to do it again I would 4 link the front end, knowing what I know how. 1 ton king pin Chevy and ford high pinion axles are hard to find these days, everyone now is using the ford sterling front axles from like 2005-2016 ford f250’s/350’s with the 6.0l power choke motor. There a beefy front axle and there’s lots of them out there, lots of wrecked 3/4 ton and 1 ton fords with blown up 6.0 motors, they were a ticking time bomb for a motor lol so there’s plenty of axles out there on trucks with a blown up engine! Back in the day a king pin 1 ton 35 spline dana 60 front end was about $1000. You can’t even find em these days. off road unlimited made the bracket front kits for the axle conversion to front leaf springs. I also ran a AGR hydro ram assist. I don’t even know if ORU even makes ‘em anymore or not, that was 20 years ago. Id’d never have another Chevy IFS truck! I want my truck to ride like a truck.
