Sorry you had all the grief. Glad to see they finally resolved it. I’m just passing 1000 miles on my 24 Road Glide and it’s been flawless so far. These bikes have become full blown computers attached to a motor. Gone are the days when all you had to look for were spark, fuel and compression when you were trying to get a bike to run.

Corporate won’t do shit. My 2024 rg at 119 miles had the head replaced. 273 miles had the infotainment screen replaced. Missed Arizona bike week (spent over $1000) because of the second issue. Now at 293 miles check engine light is on and feels like the clutch is slipping. Called corporate multiple times and have been told every time their only responsibility is to send the parts to the dealership. Refused to let me speak to anybody else to resolve the problem. Guess you need a KZbin channel to get any kind of compensation for the time wasted sitting at the service department and the hassle of dragging the piece of shit back and forth to them. Glad they took care of you. I get to spend my day hanging out with them again

Just being a home mechanic, you're kind of missing. The obvious you swapped the b c m to another bike, and it didn't work correct. Then you had issues with the battery. Which brings to the point? The bcm was bad they put in in the other bike. It didn't work, and that'd b CM fried your battery and therefore. That's why you need to switch out the battery food for thought

Not every faulty battery can be immediately tested as defective with conventional diagnostic tools. Some behave quite inconspicuously even under load and would master any specific test without complaint - but are still defective. It is not for nothing that many car manufacturers now attach so-called battery sensors to the batteries, which, in conjunction with battery management systems, monitor the battery in the on-board electrical system. Often, it is only through a targeted analysis of the recorded data that a faulty battery can be determined. Today's electronics are very sensitive to voltage fluctuations, which is also due to the fact that a lot of data has to be evaluated in real time. These batteries can work without any problems in an analogue vehicle, but often no longer in a digital system. And these are my more than 40 years of experience in the automotive sector, where for over 30 years I have mainly been busy finding and eliminating such errors. It's not as simple as some people think.

I have had my 2024 road glide for over a month now. I couldn't do an auto tune with the SE Pro Tuner but could base tune the bike without issue. I put it on a battery tender overnight after riding it a few times and then was able to auto tune. I unhooked the battery this week when I installed my stereo. It threw a few codes causing the check engine light and exclamation mark as well. I cleared the codes which only left the exclamation mark for about 40 miles with no codes. This finally went away but my high beams wouldn't work. I again threw the bike on the battery tender overnight. Rode to work...no high beams...I shut the bike off, turn it back on and the high beams started working and have worked since. Battery voltage is going to be super critical on these new Harleys for sure.

Sometimes you just get a wonky one. Back in 2012 I bought a new Ford Focus Eco boost. Ideal car for the UK and a car I much miss. Would fully recommend it to anyone.... except my specific one was the most gremlin ridden thing I've ever known. A/C was intermittent, split coolant hoses 3 times. Had a technician leave the coolant cap off so all the coolant boiled away. That wasn't the cars fault, but it caused an "overclocking" alert that no one could clear, needed a new engine and ECU for that. Eventually, 2 days from trade in, the cylinder head split and flooded the engine with coolant. Other people had one that never missed a beat....

As an owner of a 2022 PAS, I will give you a +1. Except they refused to replace my battery. If my bike sits for more that a couple of days without being on a battery tender, I will get random codes from the BCM or the ECM or things like the adaptive ride height or the compression release will not engage or the motor will not start or even traction/ride modes will error out. I had one time where I tried to run it after sitting and tried to take off and it just quit. Managed to get it started. Rode it to the dealer and they did an update. As long as I leave it on the charger, everything works fine. I had one time where I was even sitting in traffic too long, stopped and turned the bike off. Then tried to start it and had similar symptoms. But that has only happened once. So from my experience, YES the battery causes these types of errors. I hear in the 2024 PAS they upgraded the charging system and put a bigger battery in it. I may try a lithium battery. But as long as I ride it regularly it runs good enough not to upgrade it. Plugging in a tender is easy and cheap. I was thinking of buying a 2024 RG. Thanks for your videos!!!

I had a bad connection on the ground to starter on 2022 FXLRST. Cussed me all sort of start issues. This happened to me years ago on a bagger but I had forgotten. My personal experience with AGM batteries told me that they are polterguiest waiting to happen! I purchased a 2021 pan america in 2021 in less than 6 months My nightmares started. Using an AGM trickle charger from the beginning I started having starting issues, codes, ghostly experiences. Dealer swapped out the battery by orders of HD. Bike ran fine for about a month then the gremlins returned! Met a guy out in California with similar complaints with the same bike. He turned me on to a battery company that specializes in off road batteries for off road toys. I ordered one of their lithium batteries and never looked back. 2 years later and my pan america still runs like new! I also have a road king, that I put a lithium in, that had a replaced bcm by HD. The ghost on that bike left! I also picked up a new FXLRST back in November that has had to non starting episodes! No one currently makes a lithium fir it. As soon as they do I'm getting that AGM nightmare out of that bike! I truly believe it's the problem! It is funny that not every bike out their is freaking insane!😂

I don't ride a Harley, but I can honestly say all of the new ~2020+ bikes at some point will have issues with the battery. You may find you need to start the bike right away to avoid draining the battery as the lcd screens can take a minute or two to boot up. Also be careful with running accessories. For example if you are blasting music through your speakers and you pull up to a gas stop, you want to turn off your speakers completely to avoid draining your battery. Always carry a set of jumpers.

My research on tracing the wire. is that the CAN BUS+ to the DLC connector is broken or a bad solder in the wire harness. Waiting on the dealer to find the issue and or problem.

Just based on my personal experience, Harley's biggest problem is their dealerships. Especially when it comes to trying to modernize. I had a Street 750 for 6 years and, it was a far better bike than people give it credit for, but the dealerships didn't seem to want to sell them and the service departments didn't want or didn't know how to work on them. I've heard numerous horror stories with the Sportster S and Pan Am where the bikes are in and out of the service department multiple times until the owner finally takes it to a different dealer that fixes it on the first try.

Electrical gremlins are the worst!! Intermittent issues are horribly frustrating, and I’m sure that these things are a Tech’s worst nightmare. Glad you got it squared away.

My 1999 Dyna Super Glide might not be as fancy as these new bikes, but it freaking starts every time I push the start button and has never once EVER in the entire time I've owned it left me stranded anywhere. Just saying.

The simple problem was the Dealer service. Sorry but I wouldn’t even want that bike after the way it was running.

This is the problem with Harley. Any other brand having these issues and the customer would swear off them and the company would take a big hit. But Harley gets away with it because it's customer base will cop anything.

More new cars and new motorcycles appearing with lithium batteries that keep all these electronics happier. Lead acid just can not keep steady enough or high enough energy level. Many cars going with 2 batteries. Some companies ditching the old 12 volt going to 48 volt architecture

All my bikes receive lithium IRON(LFP) batteries day 1. Consistent voltage(no drops) lighter, last 3-5 times longer, longer warranty, charges in minutes, not hours, no trickle charger needed, no hydrogen gas or corrosion, larger CCA, full power stating til almost 0% state of charge(lead acid stop cranking at 70% charge. The bike cranks faster. Should be standard on Harley’s

If you have a new bike or a bike that is only a few years old and it needs work then the name on the gas tank is the problem

Once again, the bike only uses the battery to start the bike. Realize the bikes power is supplied by the alternator once the bike is started.

The original problem was probably a cable connection issue. Then the battery got damaged. Modern batteries suck. If they EVER lose charge they get damaged. A charge on a battery conditioner may bring it back to life.

Dude I had a bit of an opposite experience. I had a not very intrusive noise coming from the cam shaft during the infamous oil pump issue times. So everyone freaked out. I was told that they had to contact corporate (tech department in UK) for instructions, if the issue wasn’t something obvious….like in this case. Their 1st answer was to check the oil pressure, which was a bit lower than it was supposed to be…. in idle. Then 5 days waiting for the next step. And so on. Every single step took about 5 days. It was right after COVID so the mechs didn’t have much work and did everything UK said pretty much right away. But the next step took 5 more days. Honestly, I think corporate instructed the right things in my opinion, so no complaints there. But boy… 5 days for every single sentence they wrote in that conversation was quite long. It was one of those chats with a girl that’s not very interested, so she texts you super short answers every few days. It was right after COVID and a lot of thing were still semi-functional, so I wanna believe that it had something to do with that. The dealership in the other hand, did everything as quickly as it gets and knew what the next steps were gonna bee, but had to wait for the messages.

I will almost guarantee these new 2024 harleys will be eating batteries left and right with all these new electronics. This new technology is very sensitive to voltage and requires a lot of voltage to stay operational. It will not take long for the systems to drain drain the battery. I know several people that are replacing batteries in their new cars and trucks within the first two years because of similar issues

Why do you think I own a carbureted sportster, I can fix it myself and there's not a lot of b*******. I don't have to run to the boutique dealer to have my bike work done. Part of the pride of ownership is maintaining my machine and being able to, enough said
