I actually think the presentation of the game is really good. It's got that Matrix grittiness to it, everything in the Matrix has that subtle green haze, and the combat is presented in an appropriately cinematic manner. The presentation gives no doubt to the player (or viewer) that this is indeed of The Matrix franchise. I remember the game being confusing on where to go next, and I remember some of the mechanics being fairly unwieldy. I think if this game were remade today with more modern game design concepts it could be really great.

"Did anyone else play this game?" Yes. Me. I have beat this game, no joke, at least eight times. Not only that, I had the Prima strategy guide as well. I remember loving the Street Sweeper Shotgun as that was my weapon of choice, but also know that I hated the sewer level. (I want to say that's level ten, but it's been years.) I know there is a couple optional levels if you beat a boss very late in the game and that's really the only major change in the stories I remember other than the driving levels which has the girl is the driver and the guy as a shooter.

I remember really liking this game, too. I actually learned the controls well enough to recreate scenes and moves from the original film (doing a flip to pick up a shotgun, wall-running at someone to kick them, etc.). It was cool that they put all that in there so you could do it. I also remember Path of Neo was better, but had even more bugs (both the glitch kind and the anthropomorphic ant kind).

I also played this game an obscene amount of times, as The Matrix was the biggest thing in my life around then (I was like 11, 12 maybe) to the point where I still remember a lot of the combos even though I haven't played it in about 15 years. Objectives are handled pretty weird, as they aren't telegraphed very well on where the game wants you to go a lot of the time, and that dramatic music it uses feels extremely silly during those parts where you have beaten everything in the room but are just running around looking for where to go, but other than that I think this game was pretty amazing for what it was. This game gave me the impression like it really wanted you to feel like you were playing a movie, so once you have beaten it like 3 times and know exactly where to go, and what all the moves are (using focus while disarming an enemy with a 2 handed gun is wicked) it feels a ton better, but that's also kinda its downfall. The first playthrough, the one that's supposed to feel the best, honestly feels like the worst. This video has made me want to play through it again, which I just might do.

I can remember fighting that first agent full clip for an hour straight hoping I'd come across a hidden secret or glitch in the game that let me beat him but he just deflects or counters you

combat in this game is more hilarious to behold than i remember. what i DO remember is that if you get an Agent stuck trying to dodge bullets and shoot them in the legs, the part of them not dodging or moving in any way, they still dont get hit and its annoying cuz in the movie they showed that Agent's cant dodge point blank shots.

I love this game on GameCube and PS2. It actually has a fairly surprising amount of like advanced controls and things you can do and surprising number of quote-unquote combos. One thing I love to do was: once I learned or relearned, depending on how long it had been since I played, all of the advanced techniques was to go back through all of the early levels and absolutely tear stuff up with all my advanced skills.

Not gonna lie, I enjoyed this game when it came out (likewise I pre-ordered and everything). It was definitely rough, but because it was damn near impossible to die I just enjoyed doing flippity-do-wall-jump kicks and such without worrying about if it was practical. And the music was still good for that Matrix-feel (the stage where you run from the agents is the part I really remember). There are unquestionable rough edges (I played Niobe first and it was clear they spent more time on her animation than Ghost, though that might not be saying much), but honestly for just wanting to play a game based on the Matrix, I couldn't complain back then.

My memory of this game is that it's pretty much like Dead to Rights in that there's 1 or 2 specific levels worth playing over and over with cheats on. 10 seconds in and Jared absolutely crushed it (and subsequently me) I did play this as a kid on xbox, and had an okay time; oblivious to the jank. this is an absolute delight of a trainwreck I'd happily watch 'til the end. I remember the post office, and the airport "boss" kicking my ass, and now that some other commenters mentioned sewers i vaguely remember that too, but that's about it. Definately didn't beat it. Its a shame you didn't finish it. Near the end, if you can beat Seraph (spelling?) then you get like 8 straight levels of running away from Agents which is, in my personal opinion, the highlight of the entire game. It was back then, anyway. I have no idea how that would hold up now lol
