I don't know if this was intentional, but during the scene where the dementors are attacking Harry and Sirius, there is a moment when two dementors are doing the kiss on Harry simultaneously, while Sirius only ever has one at a time. I think Harry uses magic at the start of the film to instantly convey what the story is about: a teenage wizard. It's a very good filmmaking technique.
@OllieNorthover Жыл бұрын
How does that make sense? I don't think that ignoring a large plot point from the previous film (almost getting expelled when Dobby uses magic) can be called a good film making technique. Plus it makes Harry running away using a fake name after blowing up Marge make much less sense, it's supposed to be because he thinks he's going to be expelled and have his wand taken away for using magic outside of school.

There's a ton of problems in the movies and the books (as well) as far as underage magic goes. They explain that they can detect underage magic, the spell used, and the location- but not the caster. Harry shouldn't have gotten in trouble for Dobby using a spell in the Dursley's house, as nobody underage used magic. Also, they wouldn't have been able to tell that it was, in fact, Harry that casted a patronus when attacked by dementors. He was however the only wizard living in Little Whinging.

@alexsamatorchen97 Жыл бұрын
I had a similar thought. Rowling published the history of the Knight Bus in 2015 (well after the 3rd movie came out), so maybe there was a mix-up with the dates (1865 vs 1856) during production. You would think she simply could have matched the movie date with her Pottermore post in 2015 since there was such a long time between them.

Just a little note, the courtyard mentioned on 25:51 as well as the bridge on 26:02 are the new additions to Hogwarts that were designed for this movie and last till the end of the franchise. So, great video. But I thought I should clear up some stuff you say about the castle around the 26:00 mark. Firstly, the courtyard fountain is always present from this film forward. This courtyard it sits on is exclusively the clocktower courtyard, and the wooden bridge is unique to it. The courtyard you confuse it as is the viaduct courtyard, which didn’t exist in PoA. It was added in GoF and stayed until HBP until it was made bigger in DHP2. This courtyard sits in front of the great hall, not the clocktower. The viaduct courtyard and the clocktower courtyard are two separate courtyards. And both co-exist for the rest of the series. :)

@@ashleightompkins3200 why would he think he can get away with it though? He was almost expelled at the beginning of the last film just because Dobby did a spell near him. He would have to be really really stupid to decide to risk that again unless he had some reason to think it would be different this time.

rewatching this movie last night reminded me that Lupin lost 4 close friends the night Harry got his scar.

All of these Easter eggs are fun to think of and impressive the amount of detail put into the movies even though they missed obvious and easy to implement ones from the books. You're channel is awesome Morgan and I love your analysis of franchises I love, but you mentioned something that concerns me a bit. You said most people start making memories at around 2 1/2 years old. Am I an amalgamation if I remember things from before I was 1 year old? I've confirmed the memories with my mother, grandmother, and the rest of my older family members and not a single one of them has ever once lied to me in my life but does confirm that the details I remember from a house I only lived in for 6 months after my birth and also a house we only lived in for 2 weeks after my birth.

3:06 To be fair, he is in his room where no one can see him, & we can somewhat safely assume that any muggle that sees the light through the window would just assume their neighbor was just using some unique (muggle) flashlight or something.

the point he's making of pointing that out, is that the MoM has a strict policy that underage wizards can't use magic at home, and especially around muggles. Think about it. 2nd movie, Dobby used a levitation charm on the cake and Harry was warned because they assumed it was him, and 5th movie, Harry used the patronus charm to save Dudley, and he was expelled, later given a hearing.

Great work Morgan. Few extra points: the actor voicing the shrunken head is Lenny Henry who was married to the fat lady Dawn French at the time. The television programme playing in the Dursley house was the generation game hosted by Jim Davison - he hosted between 1995 and 2001.

Why did Fred and George never see a guy named Peter Pettigrew,next to Ron,while using the map in Hogwarts? Harry was present when his parents died,so why could he not see a thestral from the beginning?
@junior523 Жыл бұрын
There hundreds of students in Hogwarts and by the time Ron came to Hogwarts Fred and George had been in Hogwarts for 3 year and they got the marauders in 1st year so they had a good knowledge of the school. I think you have to know that the person had died for it to work or to at least understand what death means. Harry was 1 year old so obviously hadn't a clue.
