I've watched this series with French subtitles. It made me realize that I know a few words in French, it let me practice my hearing capabilities, and I have a long way to go, especially how would the locals say things.

In English, like l'oseille, very slang words for money are lettuce or cabbage - which are green leafy vegetables as well. They are kind of old-fashioned words but people use them -- sometimes they will say "green" -- "I won a lot of green at the racetrack."

Alexa, the hardest part of learning French is listening and want more of these kinds of lessons to improve. I usually turn on the subtitles on Netflix and jot down the new words to memorize them but sometimes hard to tell the difference between formal and informal. I guess I can sort of tell when a thug talks it's mostly informal. google translate won't tell you that. That's where you come in. You had another lesson about how the native French speakers omit certain words from sentences. I like that a lot. We're mostly taught(be it on duolingo or what not) the formal French and often times the spoken language sounds way different from the written. So I want more of these kinds of lessons and I want to say thank you for helping me understand spoken French much better. Listening to French News may also help. . which channel do you recommend? French is my 3rd language
