thank u for showing what u bought. the Aldi's in my "city" were only in lower economic areas (and that's where I live), but they opened a new Aldi in the rich part of city and it has 10x more stuff n a lot of plant based/vegan foods n fresher produce so I will be going there soon. When any one says racism is dead in America they should really visit the same chain grocery store in 2 different socio economic zip codes n see what's what ugh I hate it. at least the bus goes to this new Aldi so there is that otherwise I would have no way of trying it.
@Yeahthatshowifeel2 жыл бұрын
That’s truly sad! I mean it’s the same store don’t discriminate based on who lives there! We all want good quality produce😩
@konradehresman41402 жыл бұрын
For real though! I lived in two different areas of LA, one prominently Hispanic and the other a much older and more Caucasian demographic, and the difference in what products were even offered was ridiculous. Also the amount of extra presence of security at the doors, certain products put behind cases and locks in one neighborhood and not the other- it’s blatant and really gross.
@kikibunnie2 жыл бұрын
THIS!! The Aldi I go to isn’t in a rich area (in Baltimore ofc) but with her saying she got 3 zucchini’s for $3.64 and my Aldi being $3.88 PER ZUCCHINI and half the vegan products like cheese not even being available at mine is really evident they do not care about poor and black or poc people.

For the sushi, I would make sure that where you're ordering from has no dairy in their tempura batter, as many places do! I've only ever been to one sushie restuarant where they don't put milk in their batter. If it does have milk, you can ask them just to steam the vegetables!

our Aldi closes at 8 pm! I wish it was open later but I find, like you, that if I go after 7 pm, it's pretty good. YES! I HATE all the extra plastic wrap (and tray) on the fruits and veggies...

I had a 90$ food haul at Aldi's for 2 vegetarians, and I felt so bad, because I don't remember ever spending that much in one go at Aldi's. But then I remembered how bad inflation is, and I calmed down. We still have to eat. It'll just have to come out of another budget.

This is so interesting to see because this seems far more expensive than the Aldi in the UK. I think food must just be a lot more expensive in the US. My partner and I usually spend about $130 per two weeks at Waitrose which is an expensive supermarket in the UK.
@sofapop6532 жыл бұрын
Did you account for conversion of dollar to pound?
@katyferenczy-dakin2 жыл бұрын
@@sofapop653 yes we spend about £100 every two weeks in a more expensive store. Whereas this was about £70 in what is one of the cheapest food stores (at least in the UK it is)
@sofapop6532 жыл бұрын
@@katyferenczy-dakin idk if it’s the same there, but we are going through pretty bad inflation atm in America. I used to spend about $110 to feed my family of four for a week and a half/ two weeks. I now spend about $250. That might be the cause.
@PumpkinGollum2 жыл бұрын
@@sofapop653 we are going through inflation in the UK too, but I’ve also noticed a general trend of food being more expensive in the US grocery wise. Both through videos and being there myself. It’s interesting because take out/eating out is cheaper US versus UK but actual grocery shopping is the opposite

I’m sometimes able to buy the vegan shin noodles at Walmart Neighborhood Markets! I will say that the containers actually labeled “vegan” that you can find on Amazon seem to have a better texture, but the price is crazy high (probably just because it actually has the “vegan” label 🙄). So grateful you posted about these vegan shin noodles before though because I immediately started looking for them at local stores and they’re now my favorite instant noodles to buy ❤️

also kale in smoothies >>>>> spinach. please try it I promise it's great! also spinach is an oxalate containing green so it prevents absorption of a lot of its nutrients esp. calcium. But kale doesn't have oxalates and makes a much more nutritious smoothie. I also much much prefer arugula for savory meals in pastas, rice dishes etc. so much more delicious adds such a wonderful peppery flavor and obv much more nutritious than spinach. please try it! also eating too much spinach again due to the oxalates can lead to some stones in some people. rare but a possibility. so that's why I use kale for smoothies n arugula in savory dishes n limit spinach to when I eat out. I never eat lettuce as it's just water n tastes gross imo lol.

I think going to the grocery store while thinking you had covid was really not okay. I understand delivery is expensive but even pickup would have been better than going in the store and potentially exposing the few people there. The inconvenience of not getting to actually look at the options or paying a delivery fee doesn’t make it okay for you to possibly expose people to covid. Really changes my opinion of you.
