Love your podcasts Florence. It’s helped me learn more quickly how to choose projects better suited for myself and an address yarn selection. I find your delivery very authentic and a pleasant background while I’m knitting, or even when I’m a little stressed and trying to unwind. I’ll buy your fennel seed cardigan pattern as soon as it’s up. I would have signed up for size C testing but I assumed that is a size for which you have many testers.

This year my focus has been on socks, working on no. 14 right now! But about to finish jumper no.1 from 2022. 2023 has already been dubbed the year of jumpers with my Christmas presents accounting for that! Always enjoy spending time with you in your podcasts :) x

Angora is very similar to alpaca in terms of being not at all stretchy, extremely, extremely soft and fine, and also, far warmer than (sheep) wool! In fact it is usually blended with wool to make an angora garment actually wearable and not too hot. I have 2 angora rabbits and you should see them in the snow, trust me, they are fine! I’m far more worried about them in summer than in winter 😂 🐇

And, in your opinion, which yarns are softer in terms on not irritating sking: angora or alpaca/baby alpaca? I was considering knitting a sweater of angora but I am not familiar with that fier yet.

I would LOVE to see a sweater surgery video!! I think it's just so cool and interesting. Also I've worked with ladies who've done it (I work in Costumes in Film) and I honestly was so floored and insisted they were magic! Haha. I sew a lot so my knitting FO's have been pretty minimal. I finished my first ever tank top and a toque for my partner. I'm currently working on lacey fingerless mittens and a long cardigan that is just feeling so cozy.

I also really like the heavy merino by kfo but mine is pulling quite badly actually 😮 I’ve knit the sweater no 23 with it.. I‘ll also have to do a „what I’ve knit in 2022“ - I love the format! :)

Hi Florence! Thank you so much for your videos and tutorials! Thanks to you, I knit my very first sweater in 2021 (Edit: 2022, of course :D) and now, I'm hooked! I am planning to knit the sweater no. 18 in the near future but I have been wondering about the collar. The pictures of MFTK show a pretty tight-fitting collar. Did you make any modifications to the pattern? Your collar looks exactly like I prefer my collars to look - not too tight around the neck. So I would love to know how you achieved that or if maybe the pictures of MFTK are just misleading...?
@handmadebyflorence2 жыл бұрын
I don’t think I modified it but the whole thing is very oversized on me! so that might have an effect on how it fits

Would it be fine to show step by step your kneeting of sample in size measure mentioned in your vedeo's that can easy to follow. Just knowing is not enough but gioeng through step by step is more easier to me this is my first kneeting project .

I don’t think they’re especially transparent compared to other brands, and i’ve heard stuff about their business practices I don’t love! it’s really hard to find info though
@issiehazell2 жыл бұрын
@@handmadebyflorencecould you maybe elaborate on what you’ve heard about their business practices? Drops are my go to brand rn but I don’t wanna buy if their unethical :/ Google isn’t particularly helpful
@NessieFromTheLoch2 жыл бұрын
I don’t know that much but they do have info about the countries different fibres come from, dyeing etc on their website. all their silk is cruelty free and their wool is mulesing free. They also obviously follow all of the EUs rules and regulations. I have no idea about what it’s like for the people making their products or anything though!
@wooogie6722 жыл бұрын
i mean there’s really no such thing as an entirely ethical yarn (or any product for that matter), but idk if they’re particularly shady. if they are, don’t be too hard on yourself because you didn’t know, and you already have a plan to use it so it’s not just going to sit and collect dust

Why isn’t Drops yarn considered ethical? I’ve never used it but I keep hearing podcasters say this.
@handmadebyflorence2 жыл бұрын
my reasons for not choosing it are general lack of transparency about their manufacturing process and the fact I’ve heard they’re difficult for retailers to stock. it’s nice yarn mostly, but I do wonder how it costs half as much as every other brand lol there’s also a lot of controversy about their free patterns being very similar to patterns by indie designers anyway, no judgement towards anyone who does use their yarn, and I have lots in stash still to use up
