“If you don’t know about the story of Pinocchio, i don’t know what to tell you…Theres a whale, theres a kid, who is wood, and his nose grows into a tree, have fun with that.” Best plot summary of all time. I imagine someone who doesn’t know the story hearing that description. They’d be like “did she just have a stroke, or is that the craziest movie ever made…?”

I'm not here to pull you apart because of you not liking Avatar, but I feel like I should show myself cause there's a narrative spreading that people actually don't like it that much, just watch it for the visuals. Well let me tell you that's not the case and for me it's a lifetime event same as Titanic and the first Avatar were. I'm invested in characters, kids were wonderful, story was captivating and emotional and also I was in the movie! I live in Wellington and was lucky to be an extra and be directed by James Cameron. Imagine me biggest Avatar and Cameron's fan in the world and actually meeting my idol :) not even mentioning that was the reason why I moved to NZ from Slovakia haha, because I knew they were gonna be making next Avatar movies here :)

thank you for the no-thank-you of Avatar. i am fine with people just enjoying things as they are, as they will, as they do. fine. but, i WILL NOT sit through another moment of people convincing me that Avatar has a compelling story needing to be told. it is for the advancement of CGI, and that's it. James Cameron may be taking massive leaps in tech, but story-wise, just no. no, thank you. ... and, i don't know if he'll get to complete his goal with a 3-D GlassLESS 3-D experience by the last movie, but at SOME point, we all have to give ourselves permission to fail and accept failure. Soft and Quiet was my worst movie of 2022, not because of the way the movie was made or the cinematography or the actors or anything, but the subject matter. I had to pause the movie 4 times along the way and take walks around my apartment to breathe and calm down. I just couldn't enjoy the movie because of the subject matter and I was shocked, appalled and heartbroken and for that reason it had to be the worst movie of the year for me. I could not allow myself to even give it a rating on letterboxd. I understand why people continue to make shock value movies like this but I really wish they would slow down because I feel like at some point they feel too over the top and brutal that I ask myself why. Truly the most heartbreaking thing I've ever seen. I'm not telling anyone to not watch this or that it was a bad movie, I just couldn't stomach it myself and I can usually handle a lot of disturbing content. Just please check warnings first for this one guys x

I love very disturbing movies but I think the secrecy around movies like soft and quiet is super harmful. ig I assumed that content like that would go beyond the whole you can't know anything about it otherwise it'll ruin the movie kinda thing so I went into it completely blind as per recommendations from friends and reviewers and found myself as a Jewish person extemely horrified lmao. again, I love disturbing movies but I think if a film has to rely on such secrecy across the internet around the content in order for it to be 'good' or shocking or interesting then it isn't that good in the first place. for my friends that don't know cw for soft and quiet for anti semitism, racism, racist violence, nazism, sexual assault etc etc the film isn't worth being retraumatised for at all its not that good
@spookyastronauts
@spookyastronauts Жыл бұрын
I totally understand that! it has weighed on me too. But its always intent i go by and the director (an asian woman) is speaking from personal experience and wanted people to go in blind so i respect that the most.
