I love how in The Boys you cheer them wanting to take down supes. But in Gen V you follow supes trying to take down humans controlling them. It's very nuanced and it shows they are good and bad guys on both sides. Also Shetty's orgin doesn't absolve her of anything. she blames a whole species for the actions of one supe. Yes Homelander is terrible and evil. Doesn't mean she has to kidnap, torture and kill innocent young kids because she thinks all of them are the same. Marie and her friends prove there are good supes.

It's crazy how the entire focus of The Boys is to eradicate Supes at any cost while Gen V is the complete opposite. Shetty is just like Butcher yet one is an antagonist and one is a protagonist. Same thing with our main cast in Gen V, if this was The Boys they would all be antagonists.

Not really? The focus of The Boys is definitely not eradicating Supes. You could make an argument that it's Butcher's goal to kill all of them, but you could certainly argue against that as well. Saying Shetty is just like Butcher is also weird, they might pursue the same goal but their circumstances/position and methods are entirely different. And almost most importantly, Butcher has been growing more and more into an antagonist during the different seasons of The Boys so far AND we do have multiple Supe protagonists in The Boys as well. Obviously it's still a fun contrasting perspective, just not nearly as extreme as you're making it sound.

It’s very well planned…..if you rewatch the boys season 2 where hughie goes to the orphanage pretending to want to adopt a kid,we see a screen full of kids in the orphanage and Marie was one of those kids

Shetty was telling the truth about her feelings for Cate but Cate was too far gone to actually care. Gen V is a great spin off of the boys, it’s the same story but with a change in perspective. Shetty and Butcher have the exact same goals and motivations but you root for Butcher because the story is told with humans as the focus. You’re against Shetty because it’s told from the Supes perspective. Even though in both shows we see examples that make us support and against their goals. This episode really made me dislike Cate firstly because she could have done more good by making Shetty tell the truth to the media and also because she forced Marie to relive her trauma fully knowing that she was seeing her mom because she can read her thoughts. She did this to her one friend that was trying to trust her.

Good point about the different perspectives, but it's also the case that in The Boys we are told early why Butcher hates supes, while in Gen V we're made to really hate Shetty before we're told about her justification.

@@pollyparrot9447 which is still the perspective flip. The show is told from Hughie’s perspective, so we already have a negative introduction to Supes. Butcher doesn’t reveal his reasoning in the first two episodes, just tells Hughie Supes aren’t great. Same thing is done in Gen v were we also see a Supes accidentally kill a human. The only difference is that our main characters in this show are supes so they aren’t privy to that knowledge of why Shetty is doing what she is the same way Hughie later is told about Butcher’s. Mind you our first introduction of Billy is of him lying and manipulating Hughie as Shetty does to Marie. They are the same character in different fonts. The show runners are proving how forced perspective can make you view things differently.

The answer is simple, she is not nearly as likeable as Butcher is, and actual likeable superheroes are the main characters of Gen V and Shetty directly works against them. So what if she wants to do what Butcher wants to do, she is boring and doesn't have a funny accent and way with words. Butcher rarely killed innocent supes too, and definitely doesn't have a lab where he tortures them. I really wanted to keep it short but you get the point even if it isn't written very well.

Shetty is no different from Butcher. Have you ever thought about it? Both on a revenge tour, both have lost loved ones, both use subs when they need them and both have absolutely no problem killing subs and exterminating them all. Both do not distinguish between good and bad subs and both manipulate people/subs to get what they want. The only reasons we like Butcher and not Shetty is that we hardly know Shetty, her family is not known to us, they were never shown to us and Butcher is funny.

Butcher from the TV show as far as we know has only killed bad supes; Shetty has a hidden lab where she tortures, manipulates, and kills kids. Butcher from the comics is way worse, and most audience members wouldn't like him. That's why they changed him in the show and made him a little bit better, because Butcher from the comics literally killed a baby supe with a lamp; I think it was a Black Noir baby.

@@reynaldolorenzo8409 Yes, Butcher has visibly not killed any good Sup's yet. But only because his friends wouldn't let him. Yumiko would already be dead by Butcher. He shot and wanted to kill her. Starlight is also only alive because he still needed her. He was just able to hold back himself and didn't shoot her with his sniper. You don't need to sugarcoat it. He doesn't care, or at least he didn't care until a certain point. Well, and again, that doesn't mean anything compared to Shetty, because she didn't have time to show anything to the contrary compared to Butcher, because she's dead now. But here is one more or less commonality. Shetty definitely loved a Sup, and that was Kate. Butcher, well he doesn't love anyone from the Sups but maybe he likes Starlight by now. I think he would still let Yumiko jump over the cliff at the next opportunity, if it benefits his goals and certainly any other Sup he doesn't know as well, no matter if good or bad. Shetty and Butcher are the same.

And nah, he has been going for supes for years before we meet him, before Hughie, etc., nor do MM, Frenchie, or Mallorie mention him killing innocent supes, or kid supes, only really bad ones, criminals. And Sherry loving Kate doesn't mean anything; she still tortured and killed innocent kids; that's worse than Butcher killing really bad ones. Butcher and Shetty are not the same; their goal is the same. Learn to differentiate.

And that this was the first point you found worth mentioning, even though you know exactly who I'm talking about, to strengthen your position, shows that you have nothing to say. And that continues in your comment. The fact is what I wrote and everyone has seen it. He wanted to kill Kumiko, Mimiko, Camaro and the only reason she's still alive is because everyone else prevented it. She would be dead now and this scene clearly shows that Butcher kills Sup's without knowing anything about their character and motives. You can try to gaslight as you want. It just doesn't matter if Butcher has already killed good Sup's or not. He would do it and only because others prevented it, Kamiko is still alive and not because he decided so. He is just like Shetty. And only the people around him prevent worse every time. Butcher, whose first thought was to hand over his wifes son to Vaught. And here again he was only prevented from doing so because he loves Becca. Not because Ryan is a child or because he knows anything about him. He only considers Ryan because of Becca. And he only cares about him because of a promise to his wife. I'm curious to see what happens if he gets his hands on the virus. He will most likely not use it because he has had time to develop in the meantime. Time that Shetty didn't have anymore.

And he wanted to kill Kimino because, in his eyes, she was a bad person; she was killing people; they had been following her tracks, and he didn't know why. No one stopped him from shooting Starlight; he stopped himself. Like I said, he hasn't killed any good supes, so it's you who need to stop gaslighting. When he gets the virus, he would want to use it on Vough supes and all the bad ones, or maybe they will go more comic accurate and start doing more horrible shit and will try to use it on Starlight and Kimiko too, we'll see, but as for now, he hasn't killed any innocent supes that we know of, only bad ones, and he and Shetty are not the same. Butcher hasn't kidnapped supe kids and experimented on them and killed them; only all the criminal supes are connected to Vought. Keep being delusional, buddy.

20:40 I believe Neuman cares for Marie to some degree, but I also think she has a secret agenda. Neumann is smart, and she may see Marie as an investment in case things go wrong with her own plans. She's basically putting her eggs in a different basket. The vice presidency is one of them, and Marie is another. Marie also just handed her a gift by sharing valuable information.

Can we get some likes on this comment so that spartan and pudgey can react to the vikings series. Now that GOT, LOTR, Hunger Games etc has been watched you really need to check it out. Vikings has a low budget first seasons as they do with many new tv shows. But the storyline is thick and rich with history. Actual history on some stuff too and really realistic in terms of how living used to be back in those days. The graphics get insanely better with many huge battles, going from generation to generation, father to son. If you liked game of thrones this is a masterpiece compared to it. In my opinion much better than GOT w a much better ending. Or alternatively pls react to spartacus that shit was fire too. Imo top 3 1) Vikings 2) Spartacus 3) Game of Thrones
