Honestly, the feels on a moment when an entire squad misses on purpose because they don't want to kill a fellow who saved them. I assume that because they all fired that moment was a realisation that nobody was on the side of those orders, they didn't want to be the one to kill them AND neither did anyone else, all of them assuming that one of the others could take the shot they couldn't.

Good point. It wasn't just a Middle East/Vietcong tactic either. The Americans employed such tactics against the British in the Revolutionary War. And the Native Americans employed those same tactics against the Americans. It is simply survival. Its like a giant street fight. Gotta do what you can to survive. No rules.

What I liked about this episode is how, in the start, we can see the evolution of the battle-tactics of Anakin's forces. Comparing this with the second battle of Geonosis-episodes is really interesting. Ofcourse, Krell comes along and it's geonosis all over again..

I know, I was pointing out some mistakes he made. He described krell as having six arms (I believe the technicality is 4 arms, 2 legs) and he called the battalion the 202nd. To be honest, it was probably the entire 7th Sky Corps deployed anyway given the scale of things. Oh well.

I don't see anything cowardly about the Ombarans and their tactics. While not as individually capable as the clones they made use of terrain and every weapon at their disposal. It's actually much harder physically and psychologically to endure combat conditions for days and weeks at a time like they did than to commit their entire force to a bunch of dramatic but ill-advised make or break charges and inflexible defenses the way most battle flow in Star Wars. One could look at the Japanese tactics in the Pacific Theater of WWII to see how sometimes it took more werewithal to stick to more intelligent tactics. As military thinkers have stated throughout the ages: courage isn't willingness to die or kill, it's the ability to endure pain with patience.

I've been waiting for someone to make a vid like this for awhile. This is probably my favorite battle in the whole Star Wars series. Very gritty and raw. And it showed just how mature the Clone Wars series could be.

The Umbara arc was my favorite of the whole clone wars. It was the best example of what the series and did right what it so often did wrong. The fights were there to instill a sense of dread and stress and that every moment could be your last as they moved through hostile territory. Compare that with season one the hidden enemy where 90% of it was just generic action of Obi-wan and Anikin fighting Ventress well the clones do the job of looking for the traitor. I use to love light saber fights but more and more these days I'm just bored by them, they go on forever and contribute nothing to the plot beyond mindeless action scene.

I just love this Battle it’s like Star Wars version of the Nam. It’s so awesome, also it’s the most emotional due to the fratricide caused by Krell, it almost made me cry.This whole battle arc had me engaged the entire time.

I discovered these episodes last night, and I absolutely loved them! General Krell was such an awful character, and I enjoyed the twist that he was actually the bad guy the whole time, rather than just the mean general similar to the drill seargent fro. Full Metal Jacket. Also, the action, animation, and overall atmosphere was so brutal and ruthless this time. Like you said, these episodes truly showcase the raw vicious nature of war, and its amazing to see clever foreshadowing of Order 66, stuff that I didn't pick on until you mentioned them! One thing I must talk about is that, until it was revealed that Krell was revealed to be a villain and Dogma killed him, I hoped that Anakin would've slaughtered Krell good. Never would I have been brought to say this, except for possibly Windu for not apologizing to Ahsoka for condemning her for destroying the Jedi Temple when she was actually framed. All in all, wonderful episodes, wonderful videos, and its even more of a wonderful time being a Star Wars fan!

Thinking about Krell. With Order 66 in mind he was right to misstrust the clones, but his actions to basicly send them into their deaths (including the missinformation about the enemy disguised as clonetroopers) still marks him as a traitor.

Dude I loved your speech about the clones at the end. It help realize why I always loved the jango fett clones. Also 4:12 I know youre referring to the republic but its also true in other nations’ militaries but not in the USA. Everybody from the barely functional boot ass pfc to the chill salt-dog gunny knows their mission and how it relates to the greater operation. Also tbh if anybody forced brothers to kill each other many of them would want vengeance against the man responsible. But still bro that was a very awesome and well in depth video. The weapons of the Umbara actually also make sense. The light centipede tanks would be very good in tight spaces and their many turrets allow them to take out a very large amount of troops. They also have thin armor to increase speed but powerful shields to compensate. The heavy tanks have strong armor to defend against the rockets but they also have mini turrets underneath to keep troops away. There is no rapid fire cannons high because there is no way troops can reach that. It's also rounded so landing on it from above is very hard. It's long legs were also ideal for walking through such a jungle area.

This story arc not only showed how the clones matured and some Jedi had actually become competent commanders but also a foreshadowing of the future Empire. A military action to bring a planet and populace back into compliance, instead of negotiations. To be fair the Umbarans were put in a rock and a hard place situation.

I always admired the struggle clones like five's endured over the Jedi's because not only are they fighting a war but struggle with being different while being the same as their brother in arms. The Jedi just seem to know what their doing at all times, and with relative ease. Also, is their any information as to when Rex took out his chip and why he wasn't apart of the Jedi Temple attack? Was he allowed to retire before the end of the war or what?
