So, if the Death Angels are their biosphere's equivalent of leaf-cutter ants, then let's pray that their equivalent of an anteater failed to make it to Earth as well!

My main problem with this movie was the insane inconsistencies of what the creatures reacted to. A loud book? A creature shows up not 5 seconds later. Thousands of humans marching down a street through rubble? Anyone who's ever been to any march knows just how loud that is, and yet it took a solid 30-40 seconds for anything to show up. And that's the most extreme example, yet that movie had so many different things that were inconsistent with the aliens.
@mccheesy98654 ай бұрын
I think their attracted to no natural sounds like a window breaking or a book falling like you said. Continuous sounds like a waterfall or thousands of people walking are probably more natural sounding to them so it probably took them some time to figure out that all the people walking was actual people and not like just something that nature does occasionally.

Also the helicopter lured many of them away from the area so they would be pre occupied chasing the helicopter.

I just loved the film because the lead actor had a cat as a loyal companion 😸! This was a pretty good film and really helped the lore along, especially the nest scene. Looking forward to more which push the lore and maybe see more of the alien host since these Death Angels seem more like shock troop to clear out a planet in preparation for the real invasion.

Your statement at 9:00 is VERY apt. The faster that future storytellers infuse COMPASSION with ass-kicking/survival instinct/forward striving elements, the faster we'll get back to being satisfied with what we're given. I just hope it begins far soon rather than later.

Yeah I like they are expanding the lore a bit more. I heard somewhere that the death angels don’t attack out of malevolence or anything, but rather it’s a defensive mechanism because they are blind and on their world it was dead quiet. So maybe they are “attacking” sounds as if that sound is a threat. This would reframe how we see them completely. Doesn’t make them less terrifying lol.

I'll take a BUNCH of these movies, showcasing the spectrum of people that are educated/prepared enough to defend themselves, and then those who clearly AREN'T. It would make for an interesting slate of "which fate would YOU choose?"-style stories that could propel half a dozen storytelling offerings that aren't only endearing, but a clear sample of people choosing/fostering their own fate.

I had a thought, the Death Angles must have evolved on a inhospitable and hostile planet of intense competition. Also, if the Death Angles are really the vegetarians of said planet, then who were their predators? And if the Death Angles and their food survived crashing on Earth, where did their predators crash land at?

The whole premise is ridiculous... they showed in the first movie that these things are super sensitive to loud noises to the point where it hurt them, yet they show these things arriving on meteors crashing into the planet. Even if you buy the fact that they are somehow tough enough to survive the impact, the crazy loud noises from the the point of entering our atmosphere to impact would absolutely kill them based on what we saw. Additionally, why would these things go anywhere near places like New York? I get terrorizing people in small towns in the countryside, but if loud noises were really that painful for them, then they would complete avoid all population centers and naturally head somewhere quieter. It is an interesting premise for a scary movie to help build tension and suspense, but the origin story they gave the aliens just doesn't make any sense. They also would have been smarter to say they were drawn to loud noises because of how they hunt rather than being a weakness too... otherwise the narrative of the story falls apart. Horror/ scary movies always suffer from the problem of explaining the lore in a way that makes sense because the movies are just designed to deliver jump scares and suspense.
@theinkslicer4 ай бұрын
Sound isn't their weakness tho, they're just drawn to it because obviously they're blind. Only reason the characters were actually able to hurt them in the first films is because they hit a certain pitch that fucked with their senses, there's a frequency with anything. Like nails on a chalkboard for us. It just kept their faceplate open long enough to get a hit in on the soft tissue under it. Also it's not like these things chose to land in nyc
@ozzysummerall25014 ай бұрын
Sound doesn’t kill them, the high pitched frequency messed with their senses and ability to think straight, the atmosphere wouldn’t have killed them via sound, same with New York or any major city. The same thing works for humans, but the right pitch for us and we’d be disoriented, but we can live in New York and major cities, or listen to loud music with headphones or AirPods without being disoriented. And as for being tough enough to survive the landing, their planet had such an extreme environment they evolved overtime to overcome the harsh environment, therefore allowing them to survive their planet exploding and send them to Earth.

I thought I saw movie art, showing Aliens Ships sending these parasite laden meteors. It was kind of disappointing when I didn't see this. I like the idea, of them using the corpses of their victims to create the organic soup for their food. I would love to see this story turned into a TV Series, or a series of Video Games, where we see the story shown around the world. How each part of the world deals with this infestation, have other nations discovered their weaknesses to high frequency sounds? It'd be cool if another group in another part of the world have discovered this, and then discover that the Death Angels can destroy each others armored plating, so these survivors harvest the bodies of the ones they kill, and make suits of homespun armor out of their plates and teeth, so they can survive longer in battles with them. And there are human societies that practice total silence, such as Ninjitsu Practitioners in Japan, Shaolin Monks in China, Buddhist Monks in Tibet, Christian Monks and Nuns in Monistaries and Convents, and Native Tribes in The Amazon. Would these groups venture out into the world, finding and taking survivors to safe safety, and eliminating as many Death Angels as possible? As for water, I think they don't mind water, but being immersed in it blinds the Death Angels, muffles any sounds, that's why they avoid it, their Echolocation abilities are useless. That being said, I'd like to see how other creatures in the sea, deal with these Death Angels, particularly Orcas, whom we all know emit high frequency songs to navigate and communicate. Could these be lethal to the Death Angels? And would the Orcas attack and feed on a Death Angel, if given the chance?
@jadzsienes21843 ай бұрын
reading this made me realize that i am more scared of the possibility that these DAs would evolve to have echolocation similar to whales, tho i doubt theyll go to that direction for this franchise, and plus that doesnt mean they can learn to automatically swim first.

Nice video-thanks! I was pleasantly surprised who much I liked this one. I liked it more than the second and almost as much as the first one. I liked how focused it was on the main characters and I thought Lupita Nyong’o and Joseph Quinn were great. And thanks for that info about how the Death Angels (DAs) are akin to leaf-cutter ants. I’ve felt since the first film that they are non sentient and akin to insects. Speaking of which, my theory on the DAs is that they’re like giant Tardigrades (aka water bears). For those that don’t know, Tardigrades are just about the hardiest animals in existence. For example, they can be exposed to levels of radiation and temperature extremes that virtually no other animal can survive. They can even survive long exposure to a complete vacuum. What happens is they become dormant but once exposed to water they come back to life as if nothing happened. Similarly, I believe the DAs were dormant for millions of years but when they were exposed to the Earth’s atmosphere that were revived. And fortunately for them, but for humans, their food source also went dormant but revived when exposed to the Earth’s atmosphere.

Somewhat similar to The Tomorrow War. Another movie I couldn't take seriously. It is important to consider practical limitations and to have critical thinking; otherwise, the viewer is pulled out from the immersion of the story and turns the sci-fi into a Looney Tunes episode. I love movies, and science fiction is definitely at the top of the list, but once the director and the characters start making... beyond questionable decisions just (to quote Ryan from Pitch Meeting) so the movie can happen... that's not the right reason and definitely not the right direction. Just for fun I asked GPT about constructing the sand pathway. 😂 If that's app 40cm wide and 3cm thick, it would be 638,639 lbs or 319.32 US tons per 1 mile.
