That LEEEEEEERRRROOOOOOYYYY! JENKINS is from a real game using whatever 'Twitch' we had back then.. The party was waiting for Leroy and Guilds (of working adults) gathered only one a week and Leroy was late. They were debating whether to leave without him and the cry was a virtual (in the game) "last call" for Leroy Jenkins. He was one of the stongest, in game players and they were not sure the could accomplish it without them. And then, he arrived.

It is, but also keeping in mind that Warcraft, Warcraft2, Warcraft 3 serve as the framework for World of Warcraft. I mean this movie features Dranaei, Night Elves and many other elements of the greater expansed WOW universe, this movie just wanted to start telling the story from the beginning.

The one thing I genuinely hated about the movie (I thought it was decent overall) was how many morons thought its rules of Mak'gora were canon to the game, ignoring all the other stuff that isn't (Medivh being Garona's father, Garona killing King Llane in battle rather than an assassination in his own home, etc). Namely, they think Mak'gora don't allow magic. The ONLY two consistent rules of Mak'gora are 1) The duels are 1v1. 2) Any weapon dropped is now "out of play" and neither side can use it anymore. Everything else is determined by the participants. Yes, that means magic is absolutely allowed unless expressly forbidden. Thrall used it in his first Mak'gora against Garrosh with no problems. It was only a problem when he killed Garrosh because his own self-doubts causing him to lose his connection to the elements. (and because Blizzard needed an excuse for Thrall to let the players have Doomhammer and lead the Earthen Ring)

Its a decent movie and for a Video Game movie adaptation at that time, it was very good and close to the source material. Also the CGI and practical props is also very good, especially the CGI, I remembered to be very impressed by how the Orc's look, they are big hulking beast that made them quite a stand out compare to most Orcs in movie/TV. its kinda sad that they gonna reboot it rather then continuing it, although this is back when Blizzard was still somewhat good at what they're doing, with how the studio is nowdays, I have no hope for the new movie.

I’m not familiar with Sargon but his argument about Gilgamesh makes no sense. Almost every ancient culture has their version of the flood narrative (probably bc Christians believe it was a global event). It’s hard to call them all copycats when some of these people would’ve had zero contact with Mesopotamians having originated on completely different continents. If his point is to say just the Judeochristian version is fabricated then that’s just a bad faith argument.

While I like the jabs, I agree with you on this. I would say his argument makes more sense when the Holy Roman Empire wanted to expand their stories, which do have a lot of rip-offs from greek mythology, and pagan mythology. But, even then, we don't really know if the copying was done on purpose or if it's a coincidence.
@BlueDog241
@BlueDog241 24 күн бұрын
@@Royalname31 It's true that King Sargon was born about 1000 years before the birth of Moses, "The legend of Sargon" which is the earliest writing about him was found on surviving stone Tablets made over 800 years after the Exodus was written. So it's not a "rip off" I think It's more likely a coincidence.
@sawanna508
@sawanna508 20 күн бұрын
@@marcuswilson5192 It's true the flood narrative can be found in other cultures but the one in the bible is clearly taken from the Gilgamesh epose. Both are very similar (inculding the bird send out three times) and are told in a similar area. I know a South American mythos with a flooding event but it is compeletly differentlly from the bible/ Gilgamesh ebos. If such a flood happned what would have caused it? 40 days of rain is not nearly enough to drown the whole world. Similar narratives are no evidence for real events. Everything passed on orally becomes fault very quickly. We can see that with rumour or urban legends also called Friend of a Friend-Tales. The same happnes when true events are passed on between generations. Hell, just look at WW 2 and what is/was told about it and what not. The Gilgamesh-Epos is not the only narrative retold in the bible.: For example the virgin birth is taken from the egyptians. Since israelits/hebrews/ jews were often out cast and traveled a lot it is just naturally that they picked up tales from areas they passed through. I'm also pretty sure I read an egyptian legend/tale about a baby sent away in a basket on a river. Also some archeologists like Israel Finkelstein or Neil Asher think that the entire legend around Moses is compeletly made up.

This one disappointed me the most, because it felt like there was a handful of funny little gaffs they could have pointed out, like: - Savage half-orc assassin still knows to drink her tea with the pinky raised. - Lothar is introduced to us piss-drunk in a bar... on top of a bar that looks too narrow to pass out on without falling off. - Blackhand kills Lothar's son by stabbing through his armor, so effectively that when he pulls his weapon out, there is no hole in it. But no, all he does is accuse Warcraft of ripping off other properties. I guess he must be a Games Workshop fan.

The entire internet is not willing to hear Tolkein didn't INVENT most of his lore, he borrowed and adapted the vast majority of it from old northern european folklore because LOTR is ultimately an attempt to outdo Wagner's "Der Ring des Nibelungen" opera cycle because he disagreed with the ideas within the cycle. Tolkein did not invent orcs, or dragons, or elves, or goblins, or gold, or dwarves, or magic rings.

The worst part about Gish Gallop Jeremy Gish Galloping about the cities being friend or foe... is that they're all friendly to each other. The Dwarves of Ironforge are allies with the Humans of Stormwind as well as with the Gnomes of Gnomeregan (yes, that's actually the name) and the Kingdom of Lordaeron. There are also the Night Elf city of Darnassus in Northrend, and their forest home which I forget the name of. But crazy Windrunner lady burned it to the ground because she's crazy. And of course we have the High Elves. Also, fun fact: Fel magic is on the extreme opposite end of the spectrum from Arcane magic. Arcane represents Order, Fel represents Disorder. Since Fel is derived from the blood of demons, it can thusly be assumed that Arcane comes from the blood of gods. Also also there was a major disaster in Northrend where a magical experiment gone deadly wrong destroyed not only the Highborne City of Shandaral, but also Moonsong Forest. The Arcane explosion turned the entire forest to crystal, and thus Moonsong Forest became Crystalsong Forest.

Just discovered your channel recently, i never took CS seriously when i watched them, just thought they were just joking in the video because much of what they said felt absurd, like pure nonsense, so i used to play their videos in the background to try to get to sleep.

The word Orc is way way older than Tolkien it was used in 16th century for a creature we would call an ogre but it goes back even further as a sea creature hence why killer whales are call orcas. Its also likely related to the Italian orco demon monster which likely comes from the Roman underworld god Orcus. Also Hippogriffs were created by Ludovico Ariosto 1516.

Jeremy just needs to stay away from video game movies. Even if they're average or mediocre to even horrible.

He needs to stay away from comic book movies and sci fi movies as well, by comic book movies, I mean DC as well as Marvel comics. I still can’t forgive him for his take on Sam Raimi’s Spiderman movies, nor can he be forgiven for his take on Star Wars. The fact he even went after Star Trek is also unforgivable. Speaking of which, Birdman needs to sin CinemaSins’ take on Star Trek from the Motion Picture to Nemesis.

How considerate of Jeremy to never once, in all these years of receiving valid constructive criticism over the way they destroy, I mean sin movies, bother to even half heartedly make an attempt at improving their sinning methods so that people like Birdman can earn a living sinning them in return

Also, despite your belief that the Exodus story is a myth, I'm wondering if you're gonna cover CinemaSins' Prince of Egypt video, just because the movie is THAT good and shouldn't be tainted by stupid nitpicks.

15:06 Yes you could say that Warcraft does rip off Star Wars from time to time including their storytelling but I would argue that Warcraft's character arcs are much better written than some of the Star Wars' characters I mean let's be real here Anakin Skywalker wishes he were as badass as Arthas Menethil was.

Talking about Netherwings and not Fel Reavers... 😮
@LuckySmurf
@LuckySmurf 23 күн бұрын
I think he was using the Netherwings as an example (albeit randomly). The portal WAS designed to be accessible for larger entities but not necessarily for dragons specifically (who would use the portal for their own purposes later on). But yeah, I think Fel Reavers or demons in general would have been a better example to use.

I see the movie adapted an important part of the WoW aesthetic, where the males of nonhuman humanoids are hulking monsters, and the women are hot ladies in bodypaint

Interestingly enough, I remember reading that Tolkien didn't claim his world building to be entirely original but instead drew on the various mythologies from Europe albeit going against the standard fantasy trope of his day of using the real world from before much documentation (e.g. Three Hearts and Three Lions being set in the formative years of France), Orks being from Tyrolean folklore, Elves and Dwarves drawing from Scandinavian mythology, Hobbits from Scotland and Ireland usw.

Indeed. Much of his intention was to create a singular functioning mythos for Britain as a kind of over-myth for them, due to being multiple kingdoms with lots and lots of diverse histories and stories. It's why he built the meta narrative of it being a book he translated into English and all that.
