@Darth Sidious I will disagree with you saying that Star Wars survived the '70s because of supplementary material, books and comics for example. It was because of the toys. If the expanded universe material mattered people would know who Jaxxon is. And thank heavens almost no one knows or remembers Jaxxon. LOL . And back then 3 years between movies in a series was not as big a deal as it is these days. Nowadays, people have no patience, they want everything instantaneously. They want to see know every scintilla about a movie before it is even released. At that point, there is almost no point in actually seeing the movie anymore. And no, the comics don't matter, not to anyone but the comic book reader "nerds". I should know. I am one. I see one of my kind now and then, outing themselves at the theater after seeing a comic book movie. They are compelled to tell everyone they just saw the movie with the differences between the movie and the source material. The comics may be a foundation for the characters and stories, but they are too small a niche to have real impact on the mainstream. What people know about them comes from adaptations into tv, cartoons, movies. This is why everyone knows Hank Pym to be a grumpy old man that used to be a secret agent, instead of as being a wife beater. Or they know Superman for being all about Truth, Justice, and Freedom for all, but don't know that he murdered Zod and company in the '80s and was so traumatized over it he developed a split personality. That's a pretty big thing, but no one knows who Gangbuster is, do they? And none of that matters. Those stories are too small and too unknown to enter the public awareness. That's why the only people who would know Sinestro is destined to be bad are people who saw the cartoons, or anyone who saw him on screen for ten seconds and heard his name.

I liked the movie. Even though I feel it could have been better, it was still decent. I believe the CGI and the writing were the biggest flaws, which DC has been improving upon since then. The biggest problem the movie had was just coming out too soon before DC got into its superhero stride. If they remade it now, but had the same level of writing and CGI that Aquaman had, for example, it would have been a hit...or at least better than this. But yeah, it was still a fun movie, albeit more on the level of Fantastic Four than any of the major hit superhero films.

The movie is actually pretty good. As a movie it's great and fills all the criteria for a good movie. If you ignore the CGI that people complain about even though it isn't that bad, the rest is really good. The storytelling, acting, plot, pacing, everything is top notch as movies go. People just really wanted to hate on the movie and so they complained about anything they could, and everyone wanted to fit in and not be ridiculed for liking it if they did so the rest just followed along bandwagon style. I know damn well most people didn't and still haven't even give it a chance. I would not be surprised if 80% of nitpicking whiners never even watched the film.

You are not mad 'til you have 3. It serves as a reflection/reinforcement of a fractured personality, and two are just too few (they tend to cancel each other out). I feel like I’m the only one who liked this movie. They made a lot of mistakes but all super heroes movies does. The general story was good and it was so cool to see green lantern on the big screen but since everyone else hated it we might never see green lantern on the big screen again.

I just watched Green Lantern, and although it's not the best superhero movie there is, it's nowhere near as bad as people make it out to be. That being said, Sinestro taking the yellow ring at the end makes no sense whatsoever. He has no reason to do it and every reason not to at this point. Him turning to the dark side (or yellow side, whatever) should have been the subject of another whole movie.

+Francois Lacombe If I remember correctly from what little I've read of the comics (Sinestro Corps War pt 2 and Rage of the Red Lanterns, plus some origin stuff), Sinestro was already a horrible monster. He "policed" his home world with an iron fist, and basically already ruled through fear. Also, pretty sure Hal confronted him, and the Guardians kicked him out of the Lanterns. So he actually had a REASON to turn to using the yellow side of the color-wheel. Unlike here where he just.... Does.

+Francois Lacombe He does have reason to do it, he believes that fighting fear (which is the emotion behind the yellow ring power) is best to maintain his idea order (dictatorship pretty much - but not how he sees it) throughout the universe.. as they said in this video, to fight fear with fear. They set this up for a sequel and that is where everything would have been explained. Sinestro isn't 'destroy the universe' evil, he is evil in the way he operates... he hates the guardians, and uses less morale options for his bidding. But in the end believes what he is doing is the right thing and removing the Green Lantern Corp is a duty to the universe. He is honestly one of comic books greatest villains, and deserved to actually be the villain of that entire film with his Sinestro Corp instead of bringing in Parallax so quickly. Plus Hector is the villain that is just a creepy sexual predator with too much power.
