- Food: give the same dogfood as the breeder, gradually change if you want to - Freedom: don't give your puppy too much freedom too early on (babygates & crate) - Puppyproof your house! - buy multiple dogbowls (so you can wash them) - ID tag on color - Toys (for chewing & training) - use training toys only for training! - try out diffrent kinds - Dog bed: old towels or blanket (easier to clean, less tempting to chem)

i have been wanting a dog for 10 years. it was not possible since we lived in an apartment,and we did not have a yard. but when we moved to our first house with a backyard i was more insistent on getting a dog. 3 years later my husband surprised me with a great Pyrenees puppy. i admit i cried because i finally had my dog. well we have had him for a month now he is 3 monthes old. and he (koda) has changed me for the better. he is incredibly smart and a big clunky love bug. he is so big that i often forget just how young he still is. so when i get fustrated i stand back take a breathe and its all ok. because he is so young and an awesome pupster.

She’s great thanks. Almost 3 year old beagle. Will sit, stay (for a while!), come when called, shake paws, walk nicely on a lead, leave it, drop it etc. She’s super friendly with adults and especially kids. She does bark at the door and sometimes people going past the garden. I live on my own so I’m actually ok with that. I still think “look at me” was the best thing I ever taught her and has been the foundation of everything else. She’s generally pretty trustworthy now, with weaknesses for sneaking food and chasing small animals.

Another good tip that my paw family just learned is that if your pup bonded with a family member who suddenly will be more absent (spouse who travels a lot for work, kid who goes away to school or in our case a boyfriend who suddenly had to care for a sick relative out of state) putting an article of their clothing (worn) into their crate or on their bed calms them down. Our pup was getting depressed with his absence and one day when I was doing laundry he came and stole an old t-shirt of his out of the load and dragged it to his crate. Been better ever since and likes to fall asleep on it a lot.

IMO, if you have extra space include the number of your dogs emergency contact. That way if you don't/can't answer (for instance if your phone is dead after a full night of searching for your puppy), you have someone else who can. Also, if you live an apartment complex, or nowhere to keep the dog, consider asking a friend who has a fenced yard if you can put their address on the tag! That way if you aren't home when they bring the dog back, they have somewhere to leave him. My dog and my pup both have their godmother's number on their tag in addition to mine, and my parents address since I have no fenced yard. Just be sure to confirm with whoever's information is on your dogs tag, that they are okay with it! That also insures that when someone calls them about finding a husky roaming around, they won't tell the person they have the wrong number!
